Brand that was big once

Meizu started out in 2003, first making MP3 players, then moving into smartphones. Back in the day, phones like the Meizu M9 and MX series stood out for their sleek design and a custom Android system called Flyme OS. Around 2015–2016 Meizu was a big name in China, going head-to-head with brands like Xiaomi and Huawei.

But things went downhill. Tough competition, lack of new ideas, and weak marketing outside China caused Meizu to fade from the spotlight. By 2020, the brand had almost disappeared from the global scene.

A new start

In 2022, Meizu was bought by Geely, the company behind Volvo and Polestar. Since then, Meizu has shifted focus i.e., not just making phones, but also building a tech ecosystem that connects smartphones, cars, and smart devices.

With new products like the Meizu Note 22, mblu 22, and mblu 22 Pro, the company is trying to get back into the premium market (once again).

So, what’s coming to Nepal?

Meizu is stepping into the Nepali smartphone market through a partnership with Teletalk, one of the country’s leading distributors. Although the specific models haven’t been officially announced, it’s likely that Meizu will introduce budget to mid-range devices at the beginning phase.

HP has launched two new midrange laptops in its refreshed OmniBook series. This includes the standard OmniBook 5 with AMD’s Ryzen AI 5 340 and a higher-end variant with the Ryzen AI 7 350 CPU. So, without further ado, let’s head into the specs, design, features, and expected price of the HP OmniBook 5 series in Nepal in this article.

Display and design

Starting with the display, the HP OmniBook 5 has a 16-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and 62.5% sRGB colors. The display also has an anti-glare coating, which helps in reducing reflections indoors, but visibility may be limited in bright outdoor settings since it can kick up to 300 nits of brightness only.

These processors are paired with 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM, which is soldered and not user-upgradable. For storage, both models come with a 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD, with no mention of additional drive slots.

Like I mentioned before, its cooling system is no joke either. Even when playing something as graphically demanding as Genshin Impact, the GT 20 Pro climbed to just around 44°C, which is quite commendable. It has a nice 144Hz AMOLED display too, while the battery life side of things is a solid B+ too. We also found the GT 20 Pro’s 108MP main camera to be surprisingly good for both photos and videos. Although the fact that it doesn’t have an ultrawide shooter is a bummer.

So, the Galaxy A36 is kind of the little brother to the A56. It’s cheaper but still does a lot right? Sure, it’s running on an Exynos chip, so it’s not a gaming monster, but it handles regular tasks just fine. You won’t lag while multitasking or doing regular stuff like browsing or watching videos.

The camera system’s pretty good too, especially for the price. You get a 50MP main camera, which takes some pretty sharp shots, plus an ultrawide lens and a macro lens for up-close shots. It’s versatile, and while it’s not perfect, it’s solid. One thing to keep in mind – no headphone jack, and you can’t expand storage with a microSD card. However, you get an excellent One UI 7, which is both loaded with features and runs on Android 15. The battery is decent as well, supported by a 45W wired charging. Hence, all in all, it’s a really good budget option.

Nature’s Battery

Perhaps the most ingenious aspect is how the device powers itself. Rather than using traditional batteries or wireless charging, the team developed a galvanic cell that uses the body’s own fluids as an electrolyte. The device creates its own power using two different metal electrodes that react with surrounding biofluids – essentially functioning as a tiny biological battery that works just long enough before safely dissolving.

The medical community has shown significant interest in this technology, particularly pediatric cardiologists who treat infants with congenital heart defects. The AI race keeps accelerating, with new models constantly dropping. In this race, OpenAI has somehow managed to keep itself in the spotlight always. The hype is reaching a new high with the internet in love with the dreamy Ghibli-style content coming from its image models. Riding that wave, OpenAI is getting ready to roll out GPT-4.1 along with some other new models. Let’s get into the depth of the ChatGPT 4.1 rumor.

ChatGPT 4.1 is on its way!

OpenAI is preparing to drop a batch of new AI models. Even though they haven’t officially spilled all the details yet, Tom Warren from The Verge says one of the models is definitely GPT-4.1. One insider even called it a refined version of GPT-4.0, which is honestly exciting, since that model already handled audio, images, and text all at once in real time. The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman teased on X that they’re about to roll out a long-awaited feature, and that kind of tease usually means something pretty major. So, it is most likely a 4.0 model. We might see it go live next week.

Not just that, but also its smaller versions that include GPT-4.1 mini and nano. If that’s true, it could mean faster, lighter models that work on more devices or use less power. Honestly, that would be a big win for everyday users.

Other models

But that’s not all. OpenAI is also working on more models beyond GPT-4.1. They’re close to releasing the full version of their o3 model, and we might also get to see a compact o4 mini soon. AI engineer Tibo Blaho spotted code hints in a new ChatGPT web version that mention o4 mini, o4 mini high, and o3.

That’s a strong sign these are right around the corner. But don’t be surprised if there’s a delay because the sources say they’re facing some serious capacity issues because of the Ghibli thing. Just last month, OpenAI had to limit usage temporarily because of how overloaded their systems were. Sam Altman even joked that GPUs were melting from the massive traffic, especially from free-tier users. So yeah, we will soon get to see the GPT 4.1, but not sure when.
