Best Laptops under Rs 50,000 in Nepal [Updated]

Laptops have become a necessity everywhere, from offices to schools. Buying a new laptop in Nepal can be tricky. Technical specs can get confusing and you might end up making a terrible choice. To help you with that, we have prepared a list of the best budget laptops under NPR 50000. Hence, you don’t need to go through the hassle of visiting stores and comparing prices and features, because we have done it for you.

How to buy laptops under NPR 50,000 in Nepal? [Mini-Guide]

With a budget of around NPR 50000, it’s hard to get laptops with an Intel Core processor in Nepal. So, if you spot one, get it right away.

Just a year ago, you had to end up with lower-end processors like Celeron processors. Now, you can find at least Intel Core i3 and AMD Ryzen 3 processors in this price range, offering a much more significant performance boost than the Celeron processors. You should also easily get 4GB (or even 8GB) of RAM and 256GB of SSD in this price range.

Bigger displays might be tempting, but a smaller screen with a similar resolution will yield better pixel density and clarity. Also, always get your laptops from reliable sellers even if they charge a little extra as they provide better after-sales service.

Best Mobile Phones Under Rs. 30,000 in Nepal [Updated 2025]

In this article, we’ll be taking a look at the best phones you can buy under NPR 30000 in Nepal. Right now, there are a lot of options among midrange phones, especially in the 30K price segment. The main reason for this is the purchasing power of the majority of the Nepali audience. Hence, every major smartphone brand has at least one offering in this price range.

How to find the best phones under NPR 30000 in Nepal?

These Android phones offer excellent value for money with good performance and other features at a midrange price point. If you wish to buy phones under NPR 30000 in Nepal, you should be able to get a decent set of features. Full HD resolution is fairly common at this price, whereas AMOLED panels are appearing in more and more phones too.

Similarly, performance shouldn’t be an issue, especially the ones from brands like Xiaomi and Realme. Multiple cameras are also readily available on midrange phones these days. However, don’t fall for the multiple-camera setup as the macro and depth lenses are quite a marketing gimmick. So, make sure to check out our individual reviews in detail to find out more.

Note: In this list, we have also included a few smartphones that cost more than NPR 30000 — but not by a lot. We’ve done this so that you can further curate your choices, and also because we don’t want you to miss any good deal by spending NPR 500 – 1000 more. The prices of such products are marked with an asterisk (*) at the end.

7. Infinix Note 40

Infinix Note 40

At number 6 on our list of best phones under NPR 30000 in Nepal is the Infinix Note 40. And this guy impresses in a lot of ways, starting with the design itself. The Note 30 is available in two attractive color options with a nice, clean design.

It also has a pretty responsive 120Hz display, plus it’s AMOLED this time. Battery life isn’t going to be a problem on this thing either, while the Note430 brings a familiar Helio G99 chip for smooth everyday usage and a decent gaming experience.

This is quite a popular chipset of choice in this price bracket. We’re also quite fond of how generous Infinix has been with the memory configuration on this guy. The Infinix Note 40 has a decent camera setup too. We would’ve liked to see an ultrawide shooter too, but its 64MP main camera and a 32MP sensor on the front are reliable enough for taking photos.

Infinix Note 40 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate

5. Honor X8c

Honor X8c

Honor X8c is an upcoming smartphone in the 30K segment. It’s the successor to last year’s Honor X8b, and the company has stuffed quite minimal updates this time to offer.

For example, the 90Hz refresh rate has been bumped to 120Hz. While the 3,240Hz PWM dimming is here to stay. The Honor X8c also enjoys a high-res 50MP selfie camera, whereas Honor has also focused on the design side of things here. Its green colorway has a unique leather texture, while the phone itself has gained some thickness. It’s 7.1mm while its predecessor is 6.78mm.

On the battery side, the Honor X8c carries a bigger 5000mAh battery with a 35W wired charging. Oh — and besides a higher-resolution selfie shooter — it has a front-facing flashlight as well. Arranged inside a pill-shaped cutout. There’s not much to talk about in terms of performance though, since it uses the Snapdragon 685 chip, offering a slight boost over the SD 680.

Honor X8c Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate

  • Price in Nepal (Expected): NPR 29,999

4. Redmi Note 14 5G

Redmi Note 14 5G

The newly launched Redmi Note 14 5G is also a pretty well-rounded phone for some NPR 30000. It brings in the Dimensity 7025 Ultra SoC, which is fabbed on a 6nm process. This chip is fairly powerful for the price and should go very decent for day-to-day usage.

Xiaomi has gone with an eye-catching look here that we really dig. And although it’s got the same 120Hz AMOLED display, the display quality is great for a sub 30K phone. The in-display fingerprint sensor is also here to stay for a more premium experience, while Xiaomi has bumped the peak brightness level to 2,100 nits of peak brightness. It retains a stereo speaker setup as well.

Other than this, as for the optics, the Redmi Note 14 5G, there is a 108MP primary camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 2MP macro unit. Here, the selfie camera also enjoys a new 20MP sensor. But for something that launched in 2025, we’re not a fan of the fact that it still boots on Android 14-based HyperOS.

Redmi Note 14 5G Specifications:

  • Display: 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 5
  • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra 5G (6nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 8/12GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256/512GB UFS 2.2 storage (expandable)

Kathmandu Metropolitan City rolls out an initiative to microchip pets

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has rolled out a pet microchipping initiative, advising pet sellers to microchip dogs and cats before sale. This information was recently published on their Facebook page, along with instructions for pet owners to register their microchipped pets at their local ward office.

A microchip, which is usually implanted in the animal’s neck, stores important information such as the owner’s name, the pet’s age, and its health history. This data can be scanned using an electronic reader, helping authorities maintain better records of domestic animals within the city.

According to Nuranidhi Neupane, head of KMC’s Agriculture and Livestock Department, the regulation is part of a broader effort to simplify pet registration and improve animal monitoring. While also supporting efforts to manage local and street dogs more effectively.

Implementation in progress, but still in early stages

After asking the KMC office for more details, I found that the program also aims to take care of and manage street and local dogs more effectively. Once the system is in place completely, pet owners will need to have their pets microchipped at a veterinary clinic and provide certain documents to their respective ward office for registration.

Officials, however, clarified that the system is still in its early stages. They are encouraging the public to get used to the system, but at a gradual pace. They have already begun data collection exercises, and in the future, all pet-related records will be stored in a central database. A new web portal will also be launched to provide notifications regarding any pets. Including updates on registration and other relevant information.

Mr. Neupane emphasized that this regulation is part of KMC’s broader goal of promoting responsible pet ownership. With microchips providing a permanent ID for each animal, the hope is that the abandonment rates and traceability of pets improve in Kathmandu City.

iPhone 16e is now available in Nepal

0

Apple announced the iPhone 16e a while ago. The new model succeeds the iPhone SE introduced in 2022 and brings several new upgrades, and it’s now available for purchase in Nepal as well. This article will cover everything about the latest iPhone 16e, including its availability and official price in Nepal.

iPhone 16e Overview

Display and Design

The iPhone 16e features a sleek design similar to the iPhone 14, with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that offers a resolution of 2532×1170 pixels at 460ppi. The screen can reach a peak brightness of 1200 nits, ensuring visibility in bright environments.

The device also introduces a notch for Face ID, replacing the older Touch ID, aligning with the design language of other recent iPhone models. Compared to the iPhone 16, the 16e is slightly smaller, being 0.1mm narrower and 0.7mm shorter.

iPhone 16e Design and Display

Performance

Internally, the iPhone 16e is powered by the A18 chip, built using 2nd-gen 3nm technology, which is also present in the iPhone 16. This chip, along with 8GB of RAM, ensures that the device can handle Apple’s AI features like Apple Intelligence for tasks such as notification summaries. The iPhone 16e comes with 128GB of storage as its base option, and there are no 64GB variants available. A notable change in the iPhone 16e is the use of an Apple-developed modem, making it the first iPhone to move away from Qualcomm chips. This new modem supports 5G connectivity, providing faster mobile data speeds.

New Features

One of the standout features of the iPhone 16e is the customizable Action Button, allowing users to quickly access various functions. The device comes with a USB-C port, which is now required in the European market. Although the phone supports Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W, it does not support MagSafe accessories or fast wireless charging, which is available on pricier iPhone models.

The iPhone 16e also has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, making it suitable for exposure to water up to 6 meters deep. The camera system is a bit more straightforward, with a single 48MP rear camera, offering a wide-angle lens with optical image stabilization and a 2x optical zoom telephoto option. It also has a 12MP front-facing camera.

iphone 16e Features

Camera system

The iPhone 16e sports a 48MP wide-angle camera with a 2x optical zoom telephoto option and an f/1.6 aperture. The front camera has been upgraded to 12MP with an f/1.9 aperture. The camera system supports Dolby Vision HDR video recording at 4K 60 fps, slo-mo video at 1080p 240fps, and Cinematic mode up to 4K HDR at 30 fps.

Battery and durability

In terms of battery life, Apple claims the iPhone 16e lasts 12 more hours compared to older iPhones, but this comparison is actually made with older models like the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE series, a subtle detail Apple didn’t make clear. Despite this, the iPhone 16e does offer a bigger battery and the energy-efficient A18 chip, which results in an improvement in battery performance, with up to 26 hours of video playback. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

Connectivity and features

The device supports 5G (sub‑6 GHz), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS, providing robust connectivity options. It supports dual SIM (nano + eSIM), Face ID using the TrueDepth camera, and stereo speakers for enhanced audio. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16e runs on iOS 18.

What’s the difference between iPhone 16 and 16e?

While it shares a lot of features with the iPhone 16, including the A18 chip, the same 6.1-inch display, aluminum frames, action button, and an IP68 rating. There are several things the company didn’t highlight.

Notably, the iPhone 16e lacks MagSafe charging, the Dynamic Island feature, cinematic and spatial video recording (due to its single 48MP camera), and the latest-gen Ceramic Shield glass. It also has one fewer GPU core than the iPhone 16 and doesn’t feature the 120Hz refresh rate found in the more premium model. As mentioned above, another significant change is Apple’s shift from Qualcomm to its in-house C1 5G modem for the iPhone 16e, which powers the device’s 5G connectivity.

iPhone 16e Specifications

  • Display: 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED
  • Chipset: A18 chip with a 16-core neural engine
  • Camera: 48MP wide, 12MP front
  • Battery: Up to 26 hours of video playback

Sony’s Alpha 7R Series is basically a master photography machine. Launched as the successor to the A7R IV, the Sony Alpha 7R V comes with a 61MP full-frame Exmor R sensor and AI autofocus. In this article, we’ll get to the specs, features, and price of the Sony Alpha 7R V in Nepal.

Sony Alpha 7R V Overview:

Camera Sensor

Sony has retained the 61MP Exmor R full-frame sensor on the Alpha 7R V. Accompanying the lens is the latest BIONZ XR processing engine for improved color reproduction and texture rendering by up to 8 times. The 35mm sensor is back-side illuminated (BSI) for improved low-light photography.

Sony Exmor R CMOS Sensor

Talking of its videography aspects, this camera can capture up to 8K res videos at 25p with a modest crop at 1.2x 10bit 4:2:2 quality. Likewise, it also supports 4K/30/25/24p and 1080/120p recording with no crop.

Handling the stabilization here is a 5-Axis Image Stabilization. Other attributes include 16-bit RAW output, S-Cinetone profile, breathing compensation, focus map, and Active+ stabilization.

Design

As for the design, Sony hasn’t made drastic changes here. It is visually identical to its predecessor. The new A7R V is a bit thicker though due to its 4-axis LCD display with a 2095K dot resolution screen. Likewise, there is a new heat dissipation structure to keep the thermals in check while video recording and burst shooting.

Sony A7R V Design

The A7R V boasts a closed shutter mechanism protected by a cover when turned off. While Sony claims a 500,000-frame shutter life on this camera.

Autofocus

The new A7R V has improved AI autofocus. There is a 693 on-sensor phase-detection AF points that cover 79% of the image frame. As compared to the R IV’s EV-3, it can focus down to EV-4. How Trump’s tariffs could impact Nepal: A Nepali perspective

When former U.S. President Donald Trump introduced heavy tariffs on imports, it caused a stir in the global market. Although Nepal might not be the direct target of these tariffs, the effects will still reach us especially when it comes to products like the iPhone. Because you know, what happens in Washington doesn’t stay in Washington really. Let’s break it down simply.

iPhone price hike

The Trump administration imposed a baseline 10% tariff on all goods entering the US, including products from Nepal. However, other countries faced even steeper tariffs: 20% on goods from the European Union, 26% on exports from India, and a hefty 54% on Chinese goods.

Since most iPhones are assembled in China, this 54% tax could make them much more expensive in the U.S. (some say up to $2,300). But the problem is Apple might lower its profits in America to keep U.S. customers happy and then raise prices in other countries (like Nepal) to make up for the loss.

iPhone Price Hike due to Tariffs

Stuck in the middle

The U.S.-China trade war started because the U.S. accused China of unfair practices like stealing technology and selling cheap goods. This led to high tariffs on Chinese imports, and China responded by placing tariffs on U.S. goods like soybeans and cars. While Nepal isn’t directly involved, we are affected because we rely a lot on Chinese products, like phones and electronics, which might get more expensive due to these tariffs. For many of us, who already save for months to buy the latest phone this is definitely not great news. You can see how these global changes don’t just stay “global” anymore; they affect our wallets too.

Nepal’s role in the global game

Though Nepal may seem far from the big powers like the U.S. and China, we’re not untouched by the effects of this tariff war. We import a significant amount from China, and as the tariffs hit Chinese goods, the prices will likely rise here too. Additionally, if global trade tensions escalate, Nepal’s economy could feel some turbulence, particularly in sectors that depend on affordable imports. It’s a reminder that no country is an island when it comes to trade, Nepal included.

What’s next for Nepal?

Nepal might be a small player in the global market, but we’ll still experience the impact. If prices continue to rise, Nepali consumers who are known for hunting down the best deals may start looking for alternatives. Maybe we’ll have to hold on to our old phones for a bit longer. And even if it’s not the end of the world, things will definitely change.

Conclusion

Nepal might not be directly involved in the tariff wars, but at the end of the day, we’re stuck paying the bill. As prices go up, we might find fewer gadgets in our pockets.
