It consists of two phones – Redmi A1 and A1 Plus which are the successors to last year’s A1 and A1 Plus. In this review, I’ll be talking about the Redmi A2 Plus, which is basically the A2 but with a fingerprint scanner.

Redmi A2+ Full Review

Design and Build

  • 164.9 mm x 76.8 mm x 9.1 mm (192 gm)
  • Plastic Back, Plastic frames

As a consumer looking for a budget-friendly smartphone, I find the design and build quality of the Redmi A2+ quite impressive. It brings back a sense of nostalgia with its resemblance to the A1 variant. The cute color options and leather-like textured finish add a touch of elegance to the phone. It comes in light green, black, and a soothing baby blue color, which you personally find appealing.

On the positive side, I’m glad that the fingerprint sensor is included in the A2+, as it is the only feature that sets it apart from the A2-only variant. The camera placement is also similar to the previous version and looks great. The speaker is positioned at the top, providing loud and clear audio. Moreover, it has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, allowing you to use earphones, which is not common in many modern phones.

One thing I was hoping for in this upgraded version was a Type-C port, but unfortunately, Redmi still went with the micro-USB port. That was a bit disappointing since most phones nowadays come with Type-C, offering faster charging and data transfer speeds.

Display

  • 6.52” HD+ LCD
  • 60Hz refresh rate

When it comes to the display, the Redmi A2+ comes with its 6.52-inch LCD screen, offering the same quality as the A1 variant but at a lower price. It boasts a decent HD resolution, making YouTube videos look not that bad, considering its budget-friendly aspect. For basic usage like scrolling through Facebook & Instagram and playing YouTube, the display quality is quite acceptable.

Redmi A2+ display

However, I must admit that for users like me who enjoy watching Netflix and Prime TV, the display does have its limitations. It can only handle SD-resolution content, which is a bit of a downer. I would say that Redmi A2+ is made for everyday tasks and casual media consumption, where it still manages to deliver a satisfactory experience.

So, while this display might not be the top recommendation for heavy media consumption, it definitely punches above its weight for its price range, offering a delightful viewing experience for everyday use. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between affordability and functionality!

Performance

  • MediaTek Helio G36 4G (12nm)
  • Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53
  • PowerVR GE8320 GPU

When it comes to the performance of the Redmi A2+, Xiaomi has made some improvements from the A1 variant. The phone now features the Mediatek Helio G36 octa-core chipset, which is quite commendable for its budget-friendly nature. I played low-end games like Piano Tiles and Temple Run, and the performance was smooth without any lag, and I was quite satisfied.

However, it’s essential to keep realistic expectations, especially for heavy gaming enthusiasts. While the Helio G36 chipset is an upgrade, it still is not ideal for running high-end games like PUBG. During my testing, I noticed that even average games like Subway Surfer didn’t offer a completely smooth experience. The phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is not sufficient for installing and running high-end games. However, we also get a 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant.

Redmi A2+ performance

I tried scrolling through the TikTok app on the Redmi A2+, and it felt a bit laggy to me, which was unexpected. Initially, the phone seemed OK for the first couple of days, but after using it for a month, the performance degraded. Thus, it is only reliable for basic tasks like scrolling through Facebook and making calls.

One helpful tip is to install “lite” versions of applications for a smoother experience. Overall, for basic tasks, the Redmi A2+ is suitable, but it might not be the best choice for those who are heavy smartphone users.

Software and UI

  • Android 13 Go-Edition
  • MIUI

Xiaomi has provided Android 13 on the Redmi A2+, based on the GO edition. As a result, it includes only essential Android features and doesn’t have excessive bloatware.

However, one drawback I noticed is that background apps don’t run smoothly on this version. This can make multitasking a bit cumbersome. Despite this limitation, the Redmi A2+ still offers a decent user experience for basic tasks. The GO edition strikes a balance between functionality and the phone’s processing power. It may have some limitations, but it provides the necessary features for everyday use.

The Redmi A2+ supports only Wi-Fi 4G and single-band Bluetooth, operating on the 2.4 GHz frequency. It’s only suitable if you don’t heavily rely on high-speed internet or advanced Bluetooth peripherals.

Cameras

  • Dual (8MP + 0.08 MP depth)
  • 5MP selfie

Normal images

The camera performance is quite inconsistent, and it struggles to maintain consistent exposure in different lighting conditions. Furthermore, when zooming in, the pictures lack details and clarity.

Portrait images

As you can see, the Redmi A2+ faces challenges in properly detecting edges in portraits, resulting in less accurate portrait shots. Additionally, similar exposure issues persist just like in normal images; the camera struggles to maintain consistent exposures.

Selfie images

The Redmi A2+ features a 5MP front camera, which performs decently for basic selfie needs. While it may not deliver exceptional results or stand out in terms of clarity and vibrancy, it manages to provide passable selfie shots. The images appear slightly washed out, but considering its budget-friendly price, it’s understandable.

Lowlight images

In low light conditions, the Redmi A2+ suffers from significant noise. Additionally, the lack of sharpness in objects further impacts the overall image quality. These issues can be a drawback for those looking to capture clear and detailed photos, especially in challenging lighting situations.

Videography

Getting to the videos, the phone can only record 1080p 30fps videos from both the front and back. The videos came out extremely shaky and also, and the Redmi A2+ cannot maintain the lighting and exposure in the videos as well.

Battery

  • Non-removable Li-Po 5000mAh battery
  • 10W charging

Redmi A2+ battery

I am quite impressed with the Redmi A2+’s battery aspect, as it comes with a 5000 mAh battery. It is one of the strongest features of this budget smartphone Redmi A2+. I experienced using it for an entire day and still had some charge left with normal usage. Even on days when I spent hours scrolling through social media, the battery easily lasted a full day.

However, one downside is that it comes with a 10W charger so, it takes a bit longer to charge the phone fully.

Redmi A2+ for Primary Use: The Conclusion

As for myself, I would not consider purchasing the Redmi A2+ for my primary use. From my own experience, I believe it is best suited as a secondary smartphone. If I were looking for a budget-friendly option to fulfill basic needs such as making calls, occasionally social media scrolling, and watching YouTube videos, the Redmi A2+ would be a practical choice. Additionally, for individuals like office workers who require dual smartphones, this phone could serve as one of the best secondary options.

However, if I anticipate heavy usage or multitasking, the Redmi A2+ might not be the most suitable choice due to its limitations. The display may not be as satisfactory for tasks that require higher resolution; performance and storage capacity are also insufficient.

In summary, the Redmi A2+ serves well for essential tasks and basic use only and not for heavy usage and more demanding tasks. Nonetheless, for its price range, it offers a practical solution for individuals seeking a budget-friendly smartphone.

Redmi A2+ Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Slim and attractive design
  • Good battery life
  • Android 13 (Go Edition)

Cons

  • Not the greatest Performance
  • 10W charger (slow charging)
  • Inconsistent cameras

Nothing introduces CMF sub-brand for affordable products with same design philosophy

1

Towards the end of last year, there were reports that Nothing, a relatively new brand, is already in plans to announce a new sub-brand. It is now official — Car Pei has confirmed that there will be two new products under the CMF by Nothing branding.

CMF By Nothing Overview:

Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei made an exciting announcement in the  “Community Update” video. The company is now launching a new sub-brand called CMF by Nothing. This sub-brand, as explained by Pei, will offer more budget-friendly options compared to the main Nothing brand. That said, the focus of CMF by Nothing will still be on delivering products with classic and timeless designs. However, it will play safe with tired and tested technology leaving new innovations to the main brand. Car Pei also claims the brand will still maintain a high level of quality that’s often hard to find in its price range.

Products in the Lineup

CMF by Nothing’s debut will include two initial products planned for release later this year: a smartwatch and a pair of earbuds. Both of these products will be imbued with the same design philosophy shared by both Nothing and CMF by Nothing. The emphasis is on ensuring that CMF products not only look great but also function seamlessly, driven by a dedication to user experience that echoes Nothing’s approach.

Nothing’s Ongoing Commitment

While CMF by Nothing aims to offer more affordable options, Nothing itself remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design innovation. The flagship Nothing products will continue to represent premium offerings with top-notch performance and the latest technology.

Distinct Focus and Separate Team

To make sure of a clear focus on its core products, Nothing has established a separate team within the company to look after CMF by Nothing. This division aims to prevent any distractions from the primary product lineup.

Upcoming Details and Teasers

More information about the upcoming smartwatch and earbuds from CMF by Nothing is expected to be revealed in the coming months. We are expecting plenty of teasers and sneak peeks to build excitement for these new additions to the market.

Conclusion

Don’t you think Nothing’s announcement of the CMF by Nothing sub-brand marks an exciting step toward offering affordable products? As the smartwatch and earbuds prepare for their debut, tech enthusiasts and consumers alike can look forward to learning more about what CMF by Nothing has to offer in the near future.

The device is launched here at the price tag of NPR 17,499 for the sole 4/64GB variant, making it the cheapest 5G phone in Nepal. The closest 5G phone to come near this one is the Poco M3 Pro 5G at NPR 23,999 (4/64GB). Powered by the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, is this the best one in the price range? OnePlus Nord N200 5G Review:

Design and Display

  • Glass Front, Plastic Back, Plastic Frame
  • 6.49-inches IPS LCD, 90Hz refresh rate
  • 2400 x 1080 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio

As usual, let me commence with the design first. Taking a glance at the phone, the Nord 200 5G looks beautiful. As a budget-centric phone, you get an all-plastic body with a glass front. But the frame and glossy rear panel don’t feel cheap at all. While the rectangular camera module does seem a bit outdated in 2023. Still, for a phone of a budget caliber, this has to be one of the best-looking phones in the sub-20K price range.

Getting to the front, you get a punch hole cutout on the left. It is an IPS LCD panel measuring 6.49 inches here. OnePlus has provided a 90Hz refresh rate here and on my usage time, I found it to be pretty good. Talking of the display quality, it is good and sharp for an LCD panel. The multimedia experience is on the decent side with the single speaker, producing fairly nice audio.

Performance

  • Snapdragon 480 5G, 8nm mobile platform
  • 2x Cortex-A76 (@2.0GHz), 6x Cortex-A55 (@1.8GHz)
  • Adreno 619 GPU

The Nord N200 gets a 5G chipset, which is pretty rare in this price segment. Not only 5G connectivity, the Snapdragon 480 SoC also brings a capable performance. I ran the Geekbench benchmark test on this guy and it manages to bring a single-core score of 700 and a multi-core score of 1632, which is higher than the Helio G88 found in this range. So, how’s the overall performance then? Well, on my usage time, the day-to-day tasks felt smooth. Switching between the apps, and scrolling on social media, does it without hiccups.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G Gaming

I’m someone who loves playing games. Given that it’s a budget midrange phone, I tried some light games alongside, some PUBG and CODM matches. The SD 480 catered a very good gaming performance on light titles like Subway Surfers, Clash Royale, Clash of Clans, etc. Meanwhile, you can dial up to 40fps and 60fps on PUBG and CODM respectively. But do expect some fps drops here and there. Overall, the phone can handle casual gaming but if you are a heavy gamer, it wouldn’t cater fully to your needs.

Ad-Free OxygenOS Experience

The phone originally came with Android 11 which is now upgradeable up to Android 12. As OxyegnOS has been ‘Oppofied’ now, thankfully the OxygenOS12 on this phone still carries the good old OxyegnOS vibes. I know, Android 12 in 2023 doesn’t sound too appealing but for day-to-day usage, you are getting a good OS experience with no Ads and bloatware.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G Android 12
Android 12

Phones in this price range run annoying ads and come filled with bloatware. Well, this is not the case with the Nord N200 5G. One thing to note, the budget N series only receives one major software update. Hence, this guy won’t get the Android 13 update, so you have to settle with Android 12 sadly.

Camera

  • 13MP Main
  • 2MP Macro + 2MP Monochrome

OnePlus Nord N200 5G Camera

Let’s get into the optics section. The phone does provide a triple camera setup (13MP + 2MP + 2MP) here, with no ultrawide unit.

Daylight Shots

As evident from the samples, the daylight imageries from the Nord N200 are just on the average side. I shouldn’t be too nitpicking on a budget phone but have to say, it is quite poor at maintaining exposure. Overall, the phone is only good to go for casual users.

Portraits

Okay, moving to the portraits section, you get a decent result. The skin tone and dynamic range are not that good though. While the edge detection is okay for the price.

Selfies

The selfie part is also not that great but I would call it decent anyways. You can tune into the background blur level and most of the time, your selfies are ready to go for your Snaps and Insta stories.

Night

When the sun goes down, outputs from the N200 5G are average. You do get a dedicated night mode here which apparently takes better images. But be sure to keep your hand steady.

Battery

Like every other midrange phone, the Nord N200 gets its fuel from a 5000mAH battery. You get a compatible 18W charger bundled in the box. And it takes around 2 hours for a full charge. Talking of its backup, the battery lasted for more than a day on medium usage. If you are a light user, do expect 2-day long battery life.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G Review : Conclusion

Time for the truth! The OnePlus Nord N200 brings a decent set of experiences to the table. You’re getting a capable 5G chipset in the budget and a clean OS here. Although the camera is not on the appealing side, it does its job for casual users. The battery life is great with a 18W charger in the box. While on the updates part, you’ll have to settle with Android 12. Overall, a worthy device in the sub 20k price bracket.

OnePlus Nord N200 5G Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Good Design
  • Decent Performance from Snpadragon 480
  • Ad and Bloatware Free Oxygen OS

Cons

  • Stuck at Android 12

Infinix’s latest gaming phone is official in India with Dimensity 8050

1

Infinix, the Chinese smartphone firm, is rapidly growing in the African market and has a notable presence in South Asian offline markets too. Instagram is getting a bunch of AI features

Instagram is working on a bunch of new AI features, including one that notifies users if a picture is generated using Artificial Intelligence or not. Let’s find out more.

    Instagram AI features

    AI image label

Courtesy of app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, we have insights into some of the upcoming features of the Meta-owned social media platform. Instagram is reportedly testing a new “Created by AI” label for photos to inform users about the source of some images. From the screenshot, we can gather that this categorization can either be done by the original poster of the image or by Meta themselves.

Since a lot of people might be unfamiliar with the latest developments in the world of generative AI art, they might mistake an AI image for a real one. Which could result in a slew of problems. As such, Meta will be labeling such content to prevent confusion, misinformation, and potential propaganda.

    Instagram AI Image Label

In the said label, there’s also a short description of what generative AI is. And a link directing users to “Learn More” about AI in Meta products. But at this point, it’s unclear how far Meta is in testing the feature and the rollout time frame.

    Message summary

Another AI feature that’s probably coming to Instagram is called “Message Summary”. As the name suggests, this will summarize your direct messages (DMs) so you quickly have an idea of everything you’ve chatted about with someone.

    Instagram AI DM Summary

And we can assume that this can be especially useful for influencers and creators who get thousands of messages every day. By getting a quick summary of DMs, they can understand their audience’s collective voice or get connected with brands quickly. And it’s likely that Meta will be deploying its own large language model (LLM) — Llama 2 — for this.

AI tools in Instagram’s Story editor

Oh, Instagram Stories will be getting an AI makeover too. More specifically, the AI brush tool will allow users to add or replace certain parts of their images in the app itself. From the description, it sounds very similar to something like Adobe Photoshop’s “Generative Fill” via Firefly. And integrating it natively will greatly boost the number of people using such AI features.

There’s also something called “Restyle” which is like “Filters” but on steroids. Restyle will allow users to apply visual styles to their image stories. So you’ll be able to transform your selfies into a paper art, 3D image, comic, and more.

Besides this, other upcoming features on Instagram include the ability to share location in notes, improvements to “Quizzes” during Live, and the ability to “Plan an event”.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Graphics Cards Price in Nepal [Updated]

In this article, we have listed the latest price of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics cards in Nepal, along with the specifications, features, and availability.

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Overview:

The official successor to the GTX 1050, the new Turing-based GeForce GTX 1650 is the card to buy for $149. Now that might come as a surprise for most, the fact that the GTX 1050 launched for just $109. Even if you compare it with the GTX 1050 Ti, that one launched for a full $10 less. Nevertheless, this is the new GPU that Nvidia wants everyone to rejoice over. Sure, if the pricing matches the performance, there are no doubts it will receive the same levels of success.

As with most budget Nvidia cards, there will be no reference version for this one. We also do not have any type of benchmark numbers; the company chooses to keep those under wraps. We should be getting those numbers soon as the card starts shipping today (April 23). So what’s new here? Well, for starters, Nvidia claims a boost of almost 1.7x over its direct predecessor and a whole 2x over the GTX 950. In contrast with the current gen, this one holds 60% (in theory) of the firepower in reference to the GTX 1660.

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Specifications:

    • CUDA Cores: 896
    • Rops: 32
    • Core Clock: 1485MHz
    • Boost Clock: 1665MHz
    • Memory Clock: 8Gbps GDDR5
    • Memory Bus Width: 128-bits
    • VRAM: 4GB
    • GPU: TU117 (200 mm2)
    • Architecture: Turing
    • Manufacturing Process: TSMC 12nm “FFN”
    • TDP: 75W
    • Single Precision Perf.: 3 TFLOPS

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Price in Nepal

Now in 2023, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card start at a price of 25,000, which is quite affordable compared to the newer RTX 30 and 40-series cards. You can buy NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics cards in Nepal from Hukut Store.

Graphics Card Price in Nepal (Starting) Availability
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Rs. 25,000 Hukut
[Note: The price of the partner cards may differ slightly from the starting price discussed above.]

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650: Initial Thoughts

Even though there is no Ray Tracing feature involved, it does come with variable rate shading, an enhanced NVENC encoder, enhanced memory compression, and more. Another interesting subject here is the 200mm2 die size, the same as on the GTX 1060 with its GP106. But all this means nothing unless we know how the GPU actually performs. The specs and the final output are never 1 to 1, to begin with.

The new Tecno Pova 5 Pro takes a glowing inspiration from Nothing Phone (2)

    1

The “Pro” sibling of the Tecno Pova 5 is now official with a more powerful chipset and an LED-lit back similar to the Nothing Phone (2). And the Pro model doubles down on its gaming aesthetics with even more gamer-centric features. So, let’s get right into the design, specs, features, and expected price in Nepal of the Tecno Pova 5 Pro.

    Tecno Pova 5 Pro Overview:

    Arc Interface

Tecno Pova 5 Pro shares a lot of its visual aesthetic with the vanilla Pova 5, but with the exception of the LED strip on its back. This “Arc Interface” — as Tecno calls it — is similar to the “Glyph Interface” on Nothing phones. However, instead of a single white backlight, it can glow in 9 different colors. And it’s useful for things like notifications, incoming calls, in-game actions, and more

The phone itself is relatively heavy at 220 grams and features a plastic build. There’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, while the Pova 5 Pro is available in “Dark Illusion” and “Silver Fantasy” color options. Tecno says the phone will also have a special “Free Fire Edition” which comes with a custom theme, specialized icons, Garena ringtones, stickers, and gift cards.

Techno Pova 5 Pro Arc Interface

Up front, the Tecno Pova 5 Pro features a large 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen of FHD+ (2460 x 1080) resolution. This 120Hz panel has a pixel density of around 396 ppi and can hit 580 nits of peak brightness.

    Performance and Memory

Under the hood, Tecno Pova 5 Pro is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080 5G chipset, which is just a rebranded Dimensity 810 by the way. This 6nm chip has a similar CPU cluster as Helio G99 but with a slightly overclocked Cortex-A76 CPU (2.4 > 2.2 GHz). And also a more powerful Mali-G57 MC2 GPU instead of the G52 MC2.

Moreover, Tecno Pova 5 Pro comes with 8GB of RAM which can be expanded to 16GB via virtual RAM. Alongside that, it comes with either 128 or 256GB of internal storage. In terms of software, it runs on Android 13 with Tecno’s HiOS 13 skin on top.

    Gaming features

For a better gaming experience, Tecno has included a few special features in the Pova 5 Pro. One of them is called “Bypass Charge” which powers the phone directly from the charger instead of routing the power through the battery. Just like in gaming laptops, this feature allows the device to deliver stable frame rates without worrying about battery life. On the other hand, it also helps to maintain good battery health by reducing wear and tear on lithium cells.

    Techno Pova 5 pro Gaming

There’s also a port monitoring feature that warns the user in case of potential damage to the charging port. Other than this, Tecno Pova 5 Pro gets a large 2,820mm² vapor chamber with a 12,979mm² heat dissipation area, which supposedly keeps the chipset up to 2°C cooler.

    Camera and Extras

Tecno Pova 5 Pro sports a dual camera setup on its back with a primary 50MP shooter complemented by an AI lens. And the “Arc Interface” — paired with the LED flash — can also double as a secondary flashlight to brighten up your photos. On the front, you get a 16MP selfie shooter capable of recording up to 1080p 30 fps videos. Its “Dual View” video feature lets you record from both front and back cameras at the same time as well.

This gaming phone gets its juice from a massive 5,000 mAh battery which supports 68W fast charging. Tecno claims it can take the phone from 0-50% in just 15 minutes, while a full charge takes 45 minutes. Other than this, the Tecno Pova 5 pro features Hi-Res and DTS-certified stereo speakers alongside a Z-axis linear motor for tactile feedback. Wireless connectivity options include WiFi 5, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC.

    Tecno Pova 5 Pro Specifications:

    • Display: 6.78-inches IPS LCD panel, 120Hz refresh rate, 580 nits brightness
    • Resolution: FHD+ resolution (2460 x 1080 pixels)
    • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 6080 5G (6nm)
