Big Digital’s Dashain offer lets you exchange your old phone for a new one

0

Big Digital, Nepal’s largest multi-brand electronic retail chain is celebrating this festive season with a bunch of interesting offers. There’s up to a 50% discount on select products, free silver coins, and an exchange offer where you can trade your old phone for a new one. Or you can also exchange your old phone for a laptop or home appliances. Let’s learn about the Big Digital Dashain Offer 2022 including its validity period and more.

Big Digital Dashain Offer 2022:

What is Big Digital?

Before talking about all the incentives in this sales campaign, allow me to briefly go through what Big Digital is. As I mentioned earlier, this is a multi-brand electronic retail chain—which means you can find electronic goods from different companies all under one roof. Big Digital says it currently stocks products from over 90 brands in more than 100 categories.

Big Digital Nepal

And since it is a part of the Triveni Group, you can rest assured that anything you buy from Big Digital is a genuine product. As such, you’ll also get a VAT bill and official warranty (if applicable) with your every purchase. Currently, Big Digital has set up two retail stores: one in Gwarko, Lalitpur, and the other in Kamalbinayak, Bhaktapur. You can learn more about Big Digital by clicking here.

Up to 50% discount

One of the biggest talking points of this offer is the discounts that Big Digital is offering. There’s up to 50% off on select items whereas most other products are also enjoying a certain percentage price cut.

Big Digital Dashain Offer - Summary

If you were curious about the 50% off item, it’s the Hisense 32″ HD TV (HX32N2173H). It is currently available for just Rs. 15,695, against the usual market price of Rs. 31,390. For a complete list of discounts, you can visit their website.

Free silver coins

Next up, the Big Digital Dashain offer lets you win free silver coins as well. The higher your value of purchase, the more valuable silver coin you get.

Total purchase value Silver coin
Rs. 20,000 or higher 5 grams
Rs. 40,000 or higher 10 grams

Exchange offer

Okay, let’s now get into the meat of the matter, which is the exchange offer. Under this, Big Digital is accepting your old phone for a new phone, laptop, or any home appliance.

And for this, the company has partnered up with Sabko Phone, which is a Nepali startup that deals with buying second-hand phones, repairs, and selling refurbished phones. Sabko Phone currently accepts used, factory-unlocked phones from the following brands:

Moreover, not all smartphone models from the aforementioned brands are eligible for trade-in. To check if your phone can be exchanged for a new one, simply head on to this link. It will ask you a few questions about your phone’s condition. After all the digital valuation process is over, a technician from Big Digital will also evaluate your old phone’s condition to give the final valuation. And on top of all this, Big Digital is handing out an additional 5% value as well.

For example, if your second-hand phone’s final valuation comes to Rs. 10,000, you will get Rs. 10,500 instead as an exchange deposit. With that, you can either get a new phone or a laptop or home appliances. That too at the offer price, of course.

Cashback, EMI

Other than this, the Big Digital Dashain offer also includes a cashback of up to 10% (max Rs. 500) when making payments through Khalti digital wallet. And NIC Asia bank’s credit card holders can get their desired product at 0% EMI too. The good news is that the EMI amount here is calculated based on the offer price instead of the usual MRP.

Big Digital Dashain Offer: Validity

The Big Digital Dashain offer will be valid till Ashoj 30 (October 16). But a company source has informed us that they’re planning to extend this campaign till Kartik 14 (October 31). To claim this offer, you’ll have to visit Big Digital’s aforementioned retail store at Gwarko (Lalitpur) or Kamalbinayak (Bhaktapur).

iPhone 15 series could introduce USB-C and an Ultra model

1

According to reports, Apple is refreshing its naming scheme for the upcoming iPhone 15 series. We might see an ‘Ultra’ model instead of a ‘Pro Max’ the next year. Here, we will take a look at the early rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 series.

iPhone 15 Series Rumors Roundup:

It hasn’t even been a month since the release of the iPhone 14 lineup, and rumors about the iPhone 15 series are already in circulation. Trusted sources such as Mark Gurman and Ross Young point to some significant changes in the upcoming iPhone 15 series next year.

Bye Bye Pro Max, Welcome Ultra

According to the rumors, Apple is bidding a farewell to the ‘Pro Max’ branding and replacing it with ‘Ultra’. We had our first Pro iPhones in 2019 with the iPhone 11 series. As for the Ultra moniker, we recently saw it on Apple’s latest flagship smartwatch. That aside, the Ultra moniker has popped up before with the M1 Ultra.

iPhone 14 Pro Max Design and Display

The possible integration of Ultra branding does not seem that farfetched as Apple already made some changes to the iPhone 14 series naming scheme with the resurgence of the ‘Plus‘ model.

USB-C Charging

Mark Gurman also believes that the iPhone 15 series will have USB-C charging ports instead of Apple’s proprietary lightning ports. He also added that Apple is already testing this feature well ahead of the EU’s fall 2024 ultimatum.

Dynamic Island for the non-Pro iPhones

Apple could introduce Dynamic Island to all the iPhone 15 models according to supply chain analyst Ross Young. It was one of the main highlights of this year’s Far Out Apple event but only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max had it.

iPhone 15 Series Launch (Expected)

The iPhone 15 series is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2023. It will be interesting to see what Apple brings to the table next year. Will Apple finally do away with the Lightning port? Is there going to be a new Ultra model? Only time will tell.

Samsung is working on 3D face unlock with dual under-display cameras

1

Samsung is working on a new facial recognition system that will employ two under-display cameras as suggested by a patent. This patent was filed at KIPRIS last year and has just been made public. So, let’s take a brief look at the Samsung dual under-display camera facial recognition system and how it works.

Samsung Dual Under-display Camera Facial Recognition System:

The technology works on a simple idea based on capturing multiple images of the user from two angles to create a 3D model of the face. This model can in turn be used to unlock a device and other authentication needs as well.

Samsung Dual Under-display Camera Facial Recognition System Patent

The patent strictly mentions under-display cameras which is interesting as only Galaxy phones with the tech are foldables. This could mean Samsung is using the platform to experiment with new technologies.

However, it could also mean Samsung opted for under-display cameras in order to get the user’s angles from a wider angle range. Thus, we can expect Samsung to put a camera around the under-display fingerprint scanner area at the bottom of the display. Samsung might even combine the two optical modules into a single unit.

Pupil Size Scanning

The patent does not reveal much in detail about the system. But, the mockups show a normal phone with two under-display cameras – one at the top and one at the bottom.

Samsung Pupil Size Scan Patent

Likewise, the patent also covered pupil size measuring which can be used as an additional layer of security. Since the size of the pupil differentiates based on the lighting, this method can be used to avoid trickery via the use of pictures or masks.

Samsung Dual UDC Facial Recognition System: Launch and Availability

Just because Samsung applied for a patent does not guarantee that it will be used in actual products. While the concept is intriguing, it is currently only an idea and may still need years of work for commercial implementation. As a result, its possible launch remains unknown for the time being.
