How to find the best phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal?

If you’re willing to buy a smartphone under 40,000 in Nepal, then the options available these days boast plenty of incredible features. Including a high refresh rate OLED display, an OIS-ready camera, and a powerful midrange processor. Of course, not every smartphone brand offers all those features, but that should be the benchmark for filtering out the best of the bunch.

Apart from them, most phones in this price range also bring an attractive and sleek design language. Whereas fast charging (generally 33W or higher) is also pretty common here. Now, although we have tried our best to summarize each phone’s strengths and weaknesses in short descriptions, we would highly encourage you to check out our full review of these phones (if available) for more information.

Note: In this list, we have also included a few smartphones that cost more than NPR 40000 — but not by a lot. The prices of such products are marked with an asterisk (*) at the end.

Best mobile phones under NPR 40000 in Nepal:

5. Realme Narzo 70 Pro

Realme Narzo 70 Pro

On the 4th spot of our best phones under 40,000 in Nepal is none other than the Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G. It features a stylish design with a flat frame body with a sleek “Horizon Glass Design” weighing 195 grams and upfront, greets you with a 6.7-inch AMOLED 1.5K screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

It is powered by the Dimensity 7050 chipset, has up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and runs on Android 14 with minimal pre-installed apps and two years of updates. The phone includes “Creative Air Gesture” for touchless operation, a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX 890 sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 16MP front camera.

And the primary camera is pretty good with some poppiness in outputs. At the same time, the front unit needs a bit more tuning. Lastly, powering the phone is a 5000 mAh battery with 67W fast charging and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Both of’em are just pretty nice for the price!

4. Samsung Galaxy A26

Samsung Galaxy A26 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G bags the fourth spot in our best phones under 40,000 in Nepal list. It doesn’t bring much changes as compared to its past iteration, the Galaxy A25 5G. So, you get the same U-shaped notch panel while the frames now get a Key Island for volume rockers and a power key. This time there is no stereo speaker and a 3.55mm headphone jack, sadly and a mono-speaker is what we get.

Apart from that, it brings a 6.7-inch FHD+ SuperAMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. There is a flagship-grade Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. Running the things on the core is Exynos 1380 SoC, built on a 4nm architecture. It features 4 x 2.4GHz Cortex-A178 cores and 4x Cortex-A55 cores. Memory-wise, it’s paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy A26 5G Specifications

3. OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G

OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G takes the bronze medal on our Best Phone under NPR 40,000 list in Nepal. Initially, the phone was launched at a higher price tag of NPR 53,999 but OnePlus Nepal has now provided a generous 17,000 rupees off. Not only the price but the specs are also too appealing. We have the Snapdragon 782G chipset which offers a tri-cluster architecture with prime Cortex-A78 cores at 2.7GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4GHz, and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz. Which is way better than the Helio G99 or even the Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 SoC. On top of that, you get 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

The optics side is also pretty sorted with a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor which takes super decent pictures. Besides that, the 8MP Ultrawide camera is also good while the 2MP macro lens is something, we barely use on a daily basis. Moreover, you get a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. OnePlus also ships a compatible charger in the box.

Overall, the Nord CE 3 5G is a phone to beat at the 37K tag with a gorgeous 120Hz 6.7-inch AMOLED panel, a powerful chip, and really good specs.

OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G 5G (6nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 12GB RAM, 512GB storage (UFS 3.1)
  • Software & UI: OxygenOS 13.1 on top of Android 13

The newly launched Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is the second best phone under 40,000 in Nepal, you can currently buy. This new model brings in the Dimensity 7300-Ultra SoC, a 4nm fabbed processor. This is quite an upgrade over last year’s Note 13 Pro 4G with Helio G99 as the 5G version didn’t make its way to Nepal. It is paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512GB internal storage.

As for the display, you are greeted by a flagship-grade 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate alongside wet hands touch support, Dolby Vision, 1,920Hz PWM dimming, DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+, and a triple certification from TÜV Rheinland for eye protection features. Likewise, the optics side once again witnesses the 200MP main sensor with OIS, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro shooter. Lastly, fueling this guy is a 5110mAh battery with 45W of wired fast charging support.

Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G Specifications:

1. Nothing Phone (2a)

Nothing Phone 2a - White

At the number 1 spot on our list of best phones under NPR 50000 in Nepal is the Nothing Phone (2a). The recent price drop brings it here rightfully, although its initial price was kinda overpriced. The Phone (2a) is a decent option that ticks a lot of boxes that we look for on a midrange phone anyway.

Starting with performance. The Phone (2a) is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 Pro chip, which can handle most of your everyday use just fine. Especially since Nothing’s custom Android skin feels so smooth and effortless compared to most Chinese phones. Then there’s the promise of 3 years of OS updates and a year more of security patches that further sweetens the deal.

Glyph Interface

And of course, its design is as unique as they come. You don’t get all the Glyph lights like you would on Nothing’s more expensive phones like the Phone (1) and Phone (2), but it gets the job done to keep you notified. You know what? Even though the Phone (2a) has a plastic build, it doesn’t feel that cheap when you’re actually holding it in your hands.

It has a nice 120Hz OLED display too. With decent colors, brightness levels, and everything. I’m pretty happy with its vibration feedback as well, while the Phone (2a)’s battery life isn’t too bad either. And under light to medium usage, it should easily last you around one and a half days.

As for cameras, Nothing has gone with a similar dual camera setup at the back as on the Phone (2), but with a different set of sensors. We found its camera capabilities to be pretty decent for the most part, although Nothing could still push an update or two to further optimize the Phone (2a)’s cameras.

Nothing Phone (2a) Specifications:

  • Display: 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, FHD+, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro 5G (4nm mobile platform)
  • Memory: 8/12GB RAM, 128/256GB storage (fixed)
  • Software & UI: Nothing OS 2.5 on top of Android 14
  • Rear Camera: Dual (50MP main, 50MP ultrawide)
  • Front Camera: 32MP sensor (hole-punch)
  • Security: Fingerprint sensor (optical in-display)
  • Connectivity: Dual-SIM (Nano), WiFi 6 (Dual-band), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS / AGPS / Glonass / Galileo / BDS / QZSS, USB-C, 5G
  • Sensors: Accelerometer, Ambient light, E-compass, Gyroscope, Proximity, Sensor core

Sony Alpha 7C Price in Nepal [Updated]

Typical full-frame cameras are rather bulky and heavy. Because of this, portability has been a major area of complaint about such a category of cameras. Last year, Sony introduced the Alpha 7C (a7C) as a solution to this problem. The company even called it “the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame camera” – with In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) at its launch. The camera has finally come to the Nepali market. So let’s discover more about the Sony a7C including its features, price in Nepal, and availability.

Sony a7C Overview

Design

Here, the Sony a7C looks similar to the a7 III (not to be confused with a7S III) or the company’s APS-C cameras like the Alpha 6600. Measuring just 4.88 x 2.80 x 2.35 inches and weighing 509 grams (with battery and memory card), the a7C is about 19% smaller and 22% lighter than the a7 III. The body of the camera is made of magnesium alloy. Complementing the compact body, Sony also unveiled the new FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 kit lens that it calls “the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame zoom lens”.

Sony FE f/4-5.6 28-60mm zoom kit lens
Sony FE f/4-5.6 28-60mm lens

It has a 0.39-inch XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 2.35m dots, 100% field coverage, and 0.59x magnification. Similarly, there’s the 2.95-inch adjustable-angle (with an approximate rotation angle of 270-degree) TFT monitor. It supports touch shutter, touch focus, and touch tracking. In terms of wireless connectivity, it supports dual-band WiFi (2.4, 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.1. Moving on, you can find one UHS-II SD card slot, one USB-C Type 3.2 (for power and data transfer), a micro HDMI, and a separate microphone and headphone jack. Its high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery lets you capture 740 images or up to 215 minutes of continuous video recording.

Sensor

Sony a7C features the same 24.2MP 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor with a BIONZ X imaging processing engine like the a7 III. It has a 15-stop wide dynamic range and a 5-axis image stabilization. This camera can continuously shoot at up to 10fps with AF/AE tracking and up to 8fps in live view mode.

As expected, the a7C has an incredible low-light shooting capability with a standard ISO range of 100 – 51,200. Sony also employs noise reduction technology to enhance details in nighttime shots. It supports 16-bit processing and 14-bit RAW output too. Moreover, it can shoot up to 223 JPEG (Fine L), 115 compressed RAW, or 45 uncompressed RAW images in a single continuous burst.

AutoFocus

In terms of autofocus, the a7C has AI-based real-time tracking for fast-paced subjects. Matter of fact, it has the same AF technology as the Sony a9. The a7C has 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection AF points covering about 93% of the image area.

If you recall, the recently launched Panasonic Lumix S5 mirrorless camera (which is one of its closest competitors), only has a DFD system. Additionally, for better focus, it uses real-time eye AF that works on both human and animal subjects. There’s also a dedicated AF-ON button to easily activate real-time AF.

Videos

Moving on to the videos, the Sony a7C maxes out at 4K/30fps (or 24fps) or 1080p at up to 120fps with full pixel readout. Thankfully, these don’t have any time restrictions. However, Sony should’ve at least gone with a 4K/60fps recording. Anyway, both these formats are limited to 4:2:0 8-bit and 100Mbps bit rates. It supports HDR (HLG) and S-Log 3/2, S-Gamut profiles for adjusting the dynamic range.

Sony a7C Price in Nepal and Availability

The official Sony a7C price in Nepal is NPR 190,000. You can purchase the camera from authorized stores and other shops in Nepal.

Why did Framework build a desktop?

0

Framework laptops are known for their customizability, upgradability, and sustainability, aligning with the right to repair movement. Unlike traditional laptops, Framework devices feature easily replaceable components, including storage, RAM, battery, ports, and even the motherboard. This design allows users to upgrade their hardware over time rather than replacing the entire device, reducing electronic waste and promoting longevity.

What is Framework Desktop?

Recently, Framework introduced its first desktop PC.

The Framework Desktop is a compact 4.5L PC with prices ranging between USD 1,099 and USD 1,999. It features high-quality CPU fans made in collaboration with Cooler Master and Noctua. The desktop also includes a customizable front panel with a 3D-printed sticker, allowing users to personalize its appearance.

Framework Desktop customizable front panel

And here’s where things get interesting. While Framework aligns with right to repair and customization values, the Framework Desktop is not as modular as we expected.

Unlike their laptops, which allow users to easily replace most of the parts, even the motherboard, the desktop PC doesn’t offer the same level of customization. Some core components, such as CPU and RAM, are not swappable, which goes against their very own values they built their brand on.

But why??

The answer to this question is quite surprising. Framework partnered with AMD to bring their latest Ryzen AI Max “Strix Halo” mobile processors, which include Ryzen AI Max 385 and Ryzen AI Max+ 395. The Ryzen AI Max series sits at the top of AMD’s lineup of mobile chips for graphical tasks, offering exceptional performance and a massive improvement over the previous generation.

AMD Ryzen AI Max Strix Halo Processors

The AMD Ryzen AI Max 385 has a 8 core / 16 threads “Zen 5” CPU and 32 core “Radeon 8050S” GPU, while the top of the line AI Max+ 395 comes with 16 cores / 32 threads and a whopping 40 “Radeon 8060S” GPU cores with all the latest features from AMD.

By placing this laptop class processor into a desktop form factor, Framework can push its performance to the limit. Unlike in a laptop, where power and cooling constraints can often throttle performance, the Framework Desktop allows this chip to sustain up to 120W continuous power and 140W peak power at boot on both configurations. All while maintaining a quiet and efficient cooling system.

Who is this for?

The Framework Desktop is designed for developers, researchers, and machine learning enthusiasts looking for a powerful, local AI processing machine.

  • For AI tasks

Those Strix Halo processors have a pretty capable NPU (Neural Processing Unit) with up to 50 TOPS of performance. But what makes the Framework Desktop so good at AI processing is due to all those GPU cores. They are specifically well-suited to handle the massive parallel processing required for running complex tasks like training Large Language Models (LLMs) or performing AI inference locally. The more cores, the better the GPU can manage simultaneous calculations, ensuring smoother and faster processing.

Framework Desktop also supports up to 128GB of memory, with 96GB assignable to GPU tasks on Windows (more on Linux), making it ideal for heavy AI workloads. The ability to dedicate a large amount of memory to the GPU allows the system to efficiently manage massive datasets and complex computations without lag.

According to Framework, the 64GB and 128GB shared memory variants showed excellent results when tested with “Llama 3.3 70B”, a 70 billion parameter model, demonstrating the ability of those Radeon GPUs to deliver real-time performance for AI tasks.

  • For gaming

And for all the gamers out there, the Framework Desktop punches way above its weight. In Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p Ultra settings with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) and FG (Frame Generation) off, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 scored 85 fps. Outpacing NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 mobile, which scored an average of 79 fps according to Notebookcheck.

Gaming on Framework Desktop

What’s even more impressive is that both AI Max 385 and AI Max+ 395 show only a small performance gap in most games tested by Framework.

Final words

While the Framework Desktop may not be as customizable as their laptops, it represents an innovative approach to local AI processing, leveraging the power of AMD Ryzen AI Max processors. Designed for users who need a high-performance, energy-efficient, and secure machine to handle demanding machine learning, AI workloads, gaming, and everything in between.
