Why Nepal needs Quick Commerce in the current landscape?

Quick commerce, or Q-commerce, has emerged as a game-changer in the current hassled and chaotic economy. This rapid delivery model is transforming shopping experiences globally, and Nepal stands to benefit immensely from this innovation. In this article, we will talk about why Nepal needs Quick Commerce.

Quick Commerce in Nepal Overview

What is Quick Commerce?

Its basically an evolution from traditional E-commerce to something that will provide you goods within an hour. Its main goal is to provide clients with goods like food, medicine, groceries, and other everyday necessities as quickly as possible. Businesses in this industry make sure that orders are handled and delivered quickly by utilizing technology and efficient logistics. This calls for effective routing algorithms, real-time inventory management, and a network of nearby stores.

Quick Commerce in Nepal

The Global Growth of Quick Commerce

Quick commerce is growing rapidly around the world. People love the convenience of getting what they need almost instantly. With the rise of smartphones and better internet access, more people are turning to Q-commerce for their shopping needs. Busy urban lifestyles and the increasing demand for instant gratification fuel this growth.

Why Nepal Needs Quick Commerce

Urbanization

More people are moving to cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan. These urban areas are bustling with activity, and people have less time to shop in traditional ways. Quick commerce offers a convenient solution for busy individuals who need essentials delivered quickly.

How about the present?

Athough there are food delivery services like Pathao Food and Foodmandu, Nepal still lacks quick commerce services. These food delivery companies do not cover the full range of products that Q-commerce can offer.

Quick Commerce Would Change Nepal’s Economy

Introducing quick commerce in Nepal could change the economy. It would create numerous jobs, from delivery drivers to warehouse staff. Local businesses would see increased sales as more customers opt for quick delivery options. This shift could lead to higher productivity and economic growth, as people spend less time shopping and more time on other activities.

Limitations of Q-Commerce

However, quick commerce also has its downsides to think about. One big issue is the high costs of running it. You’ve got to invest a lot in fancy tech, building up infrastructure, and hiring and training staff. There’s all this stuff like setting up smart systems to manage stock in real-time, making sure everything gets where it needs to go quickly.

Another obvious limitation is the environmental impact. Increased deliveries often lead to more traffic congestion and higher pollution levels. The frequent use of vehicles for rapid deliveries increases carbon emissions unless sustainable practices are adopted. This environmental footprint is a concern, especially in densely populated urban areas like Kathmandu where air quality is already a significant issue.

Landscape of Nepal

Lastly, in a place like Nepal, with its rough terrain and far-off villages, spreading quick commerce services will be pretty tough. Places like Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Jhapa, and Biratnagar can handle it fine, but getting to rural areas is a whole different story. The bad roads and tough landscapes make it hard to deliver stuff there fast.

Quick Commerce in Nepal: Conclusion

Quick commerce holds great promise for Nepal. It can transform the way people shop, boost the economy, and create jobs. Starting with urban centers like Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Biratnagar, quick commerce can gradually expand, bringing its advantages to more people across the country.

Laptops are going to get more expensive in Nepal thanks to the goverment

The government on the latest budget hearing for the fiscal year 2081/82, has decided to slap a 5% excise duty on laptops. This has raised criticism all over the Internet, with many labeling it as an incredibly dangerous act that might set us back for decades in this growing evolution of Information technology. Let’s dive into discussing more about the latest IT act, particularly that of the 5% Excise duty on laptops, where we further address the latest move by the government.

5% Excise duty on laptops Overview

On the Budget Announcement

In his budget speech for Fiscal Year 2081/82, the Honorable Finance Minister Mr. Barshaman Pun unveiled plans for the ICT sector. The substantial budget, totaling over Rs 1.863 trillion, encompasses a range of initiatives, including those for the IT sector and telecommunications.

Budget announcement

About the 5% Excise duty on laptops

The government of Nepal decided to impose a 5% excise duty on laptops. Previously, laptops were only subject to the standard 13% VAT. This new excise duty will increase laptop prices. For example, let’s consider a laptop called BladeRunner, initially priced at NPR 100,000. With the 13% VAT, the price becomes NPR 113,000. After the new budget announcement, you’ll also have to pay an additional 5% excise duty, further raising the price.

And this is going to get superbad

Here’s the thing: a 5% excise duty might increase government revenue, but laptops are no longer a luxury. In today’s digital age, laptops are essential in every sector—IT, finance, tourism, education—everything depends on the Internet. Imposing a 5% excise duty will not only burden everyone but could also put the development of the IT sector in the graveyard

Here comes the Grey market

The increase in laptop prices is likely to cause a surge in the Grey market. This could lead to the accessories market being largely dominated by grey sellers, which will negatively impact authorized sellers who offer genuine products with VAT bills. However, it’s not just the authorized sellers who will suffer; the government will also be affected. A decline in revenue collection is imminent in the near future.

5% Excise duty on laptops: Conclusion

The government of Nepal has made a significant blunder by imposing a 5% excise duty on laptops while claiming that “Nepal will become an IT hub in the upcoming years.” Laptops are already expensive, especially for students in rural areas, and this increase will make them even harder to afford. This move risks putting the dreams of young children to sleep forever, contradicting the government’s ambitions for the country’s technological advancement.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024) with Intel Core i9-14900HX and RTX 4090 is here!

Lots of 14th Lenovo gaming laptops recently arrived in Nepal but the Legion Pro 7i with top-of-the-line Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA RTX 4090 definitely stole the show for me. Not only is it one of the only (if not the only) laptops to feature the RTX 4090 in Nepal, it also has great overall specs including a super fast 240Hz display and tons of RAM. In this piece, let’s take a look at the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 (2024), its price in Nepal, features, and specifications.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024) Overview:

Performance

Since the Legion Pro 7i is a gaming laptop, let’s start things off with performance. Under the hood, the 2024 iteration of the Pro 7i features the newly announced Intel Core i9-14900HX processor. This is the highest-end Raptor Lake (refresh) chip and features a surprising 24 cores (8P + 16E) and 32 threads with a maximum turbo frequency of 5.8 GHz. Intel says you can expect better single-core performance as well as under mixed load.

Looking at benchmarking results from Notebookcheck, the i9-14900HX scores a whopping 2232 points in the Cinebench R23 single-core test. That’s a 61-point lead over the Core i9-13980HX and an 8.6% lead over the Core i9-13900HX (2055 points).

Shipping a laptop with a Raptor Lake CPU over the newer Meteor Lake does sacrifice in the efficiency and iGPU department, but since the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024) is a gaming machine, going with the higher-performing Raptor Lake Refresh options was probably the right move here.

Configurations of the laptop can ship with up to an NVIDIA RTX 4090 (at 175W). Although the new chips bring support for up to 192GB of RAM, memory will be limited to 32GB (RAM) and 2TB of Gen 4 SSD.

Design and Display

On the design front, there aren’t a lot of new talking points in the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024). There’s the “LEGION” branding on the left edge and a “Lenovo tag” on the lower right edge of the aluminum lid.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i 2024 design

As for the display, you are getting a WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) res IPS screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. There will be configurations with up to 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response times (with OverDrive). Moreover, the screen can hit up to 500 nits of peak brightness, and carry X-Rite Pantone and TUV Rheinland certification for proper color coverage (100% sRGB) and low-blue light emission. It also supports NVIDIA G-Sync and comes with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Lenovo also mentions that higher-end PureSight displays will have a wider 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.

Battery and Ports

Moving on, the Legion Pro 7i (2024) ships with a large 99.99 Wh battery and supports up to 330W wired charging. For wired connectivity, it features a single Thunderbolt 4 port, 4 USB Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with 140W power delivery, an ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Technically speaking, the new chips support WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 5, but the exact specifications of this laptop haven’t been disclosed.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (Gen 9, 2024) Specifications*:

  • Design & Build: Aluminum Lid, Metal Build

I compared Redmi Note 13 Pro+ against Xiaomi 14. And came to a shocking conclusion!

Smartphones are depreciating assets, meaning their value drops the very moment you take wraps off your latest purchase. Knowing that you’re bound to ask yourself: Is it really worth spending a lot on an expensive phone, especially when it’s not gonna be worth anything extra in the next few years? Midrange smartphones fare a bit better in this regard and honestly, why spend more when you can get almost all the necessities in a phone half the price? With that philosophy in mind, we decided to pit Redmi’s Note 13 Pro+ against its flagship sibling the Xiaomi 14, and compare a thing or two.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus VS the Xiaomi 14

This year, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, a phone packed with some premium features. It boasts a sleek and sturdy design, an IP68 rating, a good camera, and a display that rivals those of high-end models. These qualities have made it one of the top contenders in the best phones under 50,000 category in Nepal.

Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi 14, considered the best phone under 1 lakh rupees in Nepal. As a flagship model, it boasts premium features, a robust and attractive design, an excellent display, a high-quality camera, and overall top-notch performance.

Design showdown: Not a clear winner here

Ok, let me clear things up here – there’s not much difference in the design of the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and the Xiaomi 14. The first noticeable distinction is size: the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is larger and slightly heavier than the Xiaomi 14. But besides that, both phones feature a Gorilla Glass Victus front, a choice between a glass or silicone polymer back, and a premium aluminum frame.

Additionally, both have IP68 dust and water resistance. In terms of aesthetics, preference is subjective—some may favor the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, while others might prefer the Xiaomi 14. Personally, I lean towards the Xiaomi 14, but many of my friends prefer the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. Ultimately, both designs are equally impressive, and neither phone outshines the other in this aspect.

Display – Subtle differences

When comparing the display specs of the Xiaomi 14 and the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, the differences are subtle. Both phones offer impressive features like Gorilla Glass Victus protection, 10B colors, 120 Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision and HDR10+ compatibility. These features are expected of the flagship Xiaomi 14 but are quite a rare find for a 50k phone.

However, the Xiaomi 14 stands out with its higher peak brightness of 3000 nits, making it more suitable for viewing HDR content. Having said this, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus provides a vibrant display and a very eye-pleasing experience but when I compared it with the Xiaomi 14, the highlights appear slightly overexposed compared, just slightly.

Regarding haptics and vibration, the Xiaomi 14 offers a more flagship-like experience than the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, although the latter’s haptics are still commendable. The Xiaomi 14’s LTPO display allows for a variable refresh rate down to 1 Hz when necessary, a feature absent in the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, which is limited to 60 Hz. Additionally, I felt that the Xiaomi 14 also boasts a faster touch ID.

In my experience, Xiaomi 14 is slightly ahead of the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus in almost every display segment but is it worth paying double? About that, let’s be real, NOPE!

Performance – Something to think about?

Now this is where it’s worth paying 1 lakh for Xiaomi 14 – but only if you are a gamer. If you’re not, then, you know what I’m about to say.

The Xiaomi 14 boasts the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, making it the first compact phone to feature this top-tier chipset. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra, which despite its name, doesn’t quite live up to the “Ultra” hype. Yikes! According to Geekbench scores, the CPU in the Xiaomi flagship delivers roughly double the performance of the Redmi, and its GPU is about three times more powerful on paper. But what about the actual usage?

When it comes to normal everyday performance, there’s a slight difference between the two phones. Opening apps feels especially snappy on the Xiaomi 14 while the Note walks at its own pace. Given their price points, this is something that’s expected of the two and it’s not going to surprise anyone when I say that the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus feels a bit slow when pitted against the Xiaomi 14 if you can walk past that though both phones handle multitasking and everyday tasks smoothly, with no stutters and no slowdowns in sight.

Gaming

However, the difference becomes significant during gaming. First, I played PUBG on the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and it felt smooth and enjoyable. There was nothing I could complain about except for its curved display which sometimes led to accidental touches on the notification bar, a bit distracting.

But when I switched to the Xiaomi 14, the difference was immediately noticeable. And FYI, now you can play PUBG in 120 FPS. The touch response on the Xiaomi 14 was much faster, and the overall gameplay felt incredibly smooth. But!!! there was a drawback—the phone got extremely hot after just three games. Like, super hot!

Therefore, when it comes to gaming on the Xiaomi 14, I suggest playing at lower FPS settings to prevent the phone from overheating. I played at 90 fps which effectively controlled the temperature while gaming. I also tested Genshin Impact for about 30 minutes each on lower fps, and the phone didn’t exceed 41 degrees, which was impressive.

Ice Loop vapor chamber system in Xiaomi 14

Xiaomi claims they have included an Ice Loop vapor chamber system that offers three times the thermal efficiency of standard vapor chamber cooling solutions. However, the limitation seems to be the smaller chassis. This compact phone also struggles with extreme conditions like hotter climates.

Overall, the Xiaomi 14, priced at 1 lakh rupees, is clearly superior to the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. That said, it’s not that the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus can’t handle gaming—it can, but the Xiaomi 14 provides a noticeably better experience. The gameplay on the Xiaomi 14 feels much smoother, though you should avoid playing at super high FPS settings to prevent overheating.

If you’re an avid gamer, it’s worth investing more in the Xiaomi 14 for its superior performance. However, if you’re a casual gamer, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus performs perfectly fine and offers great value for the price.

Software and UI

The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus has been impressive so far, and it still shines especially after the new HyperOS update. The phone now supports Android 14 with HyperOS, it initially launched with MIUI 14 based on Android 13—much like last year’s Redmi Note 12 Pro+ that came with Android 12 despite Android 13 being available. Moreso, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is set to receive updates up to Android 16, thanks to its 3-year software update policy.

Xiaomi 14 Hyper OS

The Xiaomi 14 also comes with the HyperOS but the good thing here is, Xiaomi has committed to providing 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates. The HyperOS in both of these phones feels much lighter and more optimized than MIUI.

Camera

The Xiaomi 14 features a 50MP primary, ultra-wide, and telephoto lens with 3.2x zoom, and a front camera capable of 4K video at 60 fps, offering advanced features like Leica color modes and 8K recording.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus camera specs

The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, on the other hand, includes a 200MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro lens, with a 16MP front camera limited to 1080p video, and 4K video recording on the rear camera.

Daylight

When it comes to daylight performance, the Xiaomi 14 and the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus each have their strengths. The Xiaomi 14 features a 50MP Omnivision Light Fusion 900 primary sensor, which excels at maintaining details and dynamic range. However, its dynamic range processing can sometimes be too aggressive, leading to crushed shadows. The phone offers two color modes: Leica Vibrant, which produces vibrant colors similar to Samsung’s processing, and Leica Authentic, which provides toned-down colors but with occasionally excessive contrast.

In contrast, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, captures vibrant and pleasing photos with a generally good dynamic range. It handles contrast well, although highlights could use some improvement. Overall, the Xiaomi 14 offers more consistent results and versatile color modes, making it the better choice for daylight photography.

Ultrawide

In terms of ultra-wide lens performance, the Xiaomi 14 is clearly better than the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus. The Xiaomi 14 captures good detail and highlights look better with better overall quality. However, it lacks optimization in edge and color handling.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus delivers reliable shots but the overall quality is not in the same league. Details are often worse and the highlights don’t look as balanced as the Xiaomi 14.

Portraits

For portrait photography, the Xiaomi 14 stands out with its multiple focal lengths and effects, including an impressive 75mm Leica portrait mode that produces excellent background bokeh and well-processed skin tones. The black-and-white filter using the telephoto lens also delivers stunning results.

Meanwhile, we can only take 1X portraits from the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus which are inconsistent on top. Although they generally look nice with plenty of details, skin tones and background blur can be hit or miss, and the color science needs refinement too. Thus, the Xiaomi 14 provides a superior portrait photography experience.

Selfie

In the selfie department, the Xiaomi 14’s front camera impresses with its ability to shoot 4K videos at 60 fps and a wide field of view. Selfies are detailed and social media-ready. The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, with its 16MP front camera, produces good selfies with a pinkish tone and a bit of smoothening, though they lack the fine details of higher-end devices.

Video capabilities are limited to 1080p, which is a significant drawback compared to the Xiaomi 14’s 4K selfie videos. Overall, the Xiaomi 14 offers better selfies and front-camera video performance.

Nighttime

Low light and night images are kind of a mixed bag between the two smartphones. While you’d expect better clicks from a smartphone that costs more than twice as much, Xiaomi 14 often disappoints with its overexposed shots. The Note has its own faults too and I didn’t like the greenish tint present throughout most of its photos. Both phones click bright enough photos but I don’t think any is a clear winner in this case.

Battery

The Xiaomi 14, with its 4610 mAh battery, charges fully in 40 minutes using the included 90-watt adapter and offers about 5.5 hours of screen-on time. The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus features a 5000 mAh battery, providing a full day’s usage, and supports 120W fast charging, reaching 100% in just 20 minutes.

Xiaomi 14 Vs Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus: The Verdict

The Xiaomi 14 undoubtedly provides a superior overall experience with its flagship features, making it worth the higher price tag for those seeking top-tier performance, camera quality, and software longevity. However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus delivers exceptional value for money, offering many flagship-like features at half the price.

Xiaomi 14 usage

If budget is a concern, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is a highly capable device that doesn’t disappoint. Therefore, while the Xiaomi 14 is better in many aspects, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus proves that a 50k phone can indeed hold its own against a 1 lakh phone, especially for those who prioritize value over top-tier specs. Hence, the 50,000-worth Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is NOT better than the 1 Lakh-worth Xiaomi 14 but it is definitely a better value than the Xiaomi 14.

Realme 12 Pro+ review: We’re talking stellar 3x portraits!

0

And for that price tag, you are getting a 3X periscope zoom lens, a Sony IMX890 main camera,  and a beautiful design. But besides that, what else is there, and how is this phone? Worry not,  I’ll share my experience regarding that in this Realme 12 Pro Plus review.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Review:

Cameras

  • Rear Camera: 50MP IMX890 main (with OIS), 8MP ultra-wide, 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope portrait camera
  • Front Camera: 32MP

Okay as you have expected, I’m gonna start by addressing the elephant of the room here first–the cameras. Finally, someone from the pack decided to cut off the useless depth/macro sensors and provide a more functional and trendy 64MP 3X Periscope lens instead. Kudos to Realme here! (Other brands should start taking notes). The last time we saw a periscope lens on a Realme phone was on the Realme X3 SuperZoom, released back in June 2020.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Camera

Along with the zoom lens, you get a flagship Sony IMX890 with OIS as the primary shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. While upfront, there is a 32MP snapper. The camera specs look too good on paper, right? What about the real-world performance?

Portraits

The portrait game on this guy is pretty strong. It clicks the best portraits in the range, period! You get that professional camera-like vibe with enough details and sharpness.

Periscope Zoom

The 64MP periscope lens as the name implies can do 3X optical and 6X insensor zoom. And the shots are decent if not the best.  You can also go up to 120X digitally, which I wouldn’t simply recommend, because the outputs are not usable, given that this is a mid-range device.

Daylight

The daylight imageries are also on the commendable side. The initial days were not that great but Realme has provided multiple updates and the primary camera has gotten much better. The dynamic range is good while the outputs stay on a slightly poppier side, which looks pleasing to my eyes.

Ultrawide

The 8MP ultrawide unit also does a decent job. It is not good as the main camera for obvious reasons but for some casual shots, you can count on it.

Selfies

Talking of the selfies, you can snap some good-looking outputs with ease. There is a slight pinkish tone though.

Nighttime

When the sun goes down, turning on the dedicated night mode can for sure, get you better-looking images. The details are not great though as expected from a midrange phone.

Design

  • Dimensions: 161.5 x 74 x 8.8 mm
  • Weight: 196grams
  • IP rating: IP65

The design of this phone is something to praise! This is not your regular vegan leather back phone, the brand has instead collaborated with designer Olliver Saveo to build it, just like its predecessor, the Realme 11 Pro+ did with Matteo Menotto.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Design

And it does look premium. This circular camera module bears a luxury watch-like pattern with precise attention to detail. The vegan leather texture and slightly curved form factor make a really nice grip here to hold. The frame is still plastic but overall, this guy does deserve 4.8 stars for the premium attributes in the 30K segment. The IP65 rating is also worry-free for water splashes and dust protection.

And oh well, you can buy this phone in two other color options– Navigator Beige and Explorer Red editions, which look equally premium as well.

Display

  • Display: 6.7 inches AMOLED, 120Hz, 950 nits (peak)
  • Resolution: 1080 x 2412 pixels (~394 ppi density)

Coming to the front, there is a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution. During my usage period, I found it to be pretty vibrant and sufficient for all my daily chores and media usage. It boasts a punchy color output and can play HDR content on YouTube.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Display

But on Netflix, it only supports HD playback despite, the phone bagging the Widevine L1 certification. Maybe an update can fix this? Apart from that, the display is bright enough to use outdoors with 800nits of High Brightness Mode.

Stereo Speakers

Likewise, the stereo speakers here feel very good, I mean it’s not that of a flagship level or super loud, but you are gonna love the audio during your binge-watching sessions or streaming Spotify/YouTube Music.

120Hz is not properly optimized

Seems all good here, doesn’t it? But wait…. despite the screen supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, Realme has not properly optimized it. I have noticed that the refresh rate stays at 120Hz only in the launcher and as soon as I switch to an app like Facebook or Instagram, it goes to 90Hz and even 60Hz while using Youtube.

There is no 120Hz-only mode here sadly. I know, it’s all good for battery saving but capping the refresh rate on social media apps, kinda ruins a fluid experience.

Realme UI 5.0

And talking further about my experience, the Realme UI 5.0 felt just average to me. The amount of bloatware kills the vibe here. If you ask me why, it’s basically OxygenOS with all the customizations and features but filled with unnecessary apps and games. The UI can also make you download apps and games in multiple places. So, I seriously recommend you uninstall and disable those apps.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Bloatware

How’s the performance?

Let’s move to the gaming performance of this phone! The Realme 12 Pro+ is powered by a new Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. It’s the same chip as on the Redmi Note 13 Pro and Poco X6

Talking of the gaming score here: PUBG runs at a stable 59 fps with no major hiccups or lags. The story continues the same with Call of Duty Mobile at 59fps stable frame rate.

But, the Realme 12 Pro+ can’t run any high fps games past 60fps. Be it Mech Arena or a low-intensive game like Alto’s Adventure, the refresh rate is capped at 60fps which is kinda disappointing. And on Genshin Impact, despite setting it to run at 60fps, the fps is limited to 30fps, which again is a strange thing.

So, Realme is somehow restricting the chip’s performance here as it’s doing with the refresh rate thing, I’ve already mentioned! For keeping things cool, there is a 3394mm2 Vapor Chamber cooling though, which works fine.

Besides gaming, the Snapdragon 7S Gen 2 is all good for your day-to-day chores. I know, a better chipset could have made its way here but hey, the camera specs are already too good, so I let that slide in!

Battery and Charging

  • Battery: 5000mAh, 67W charging

Okay, let’s move to the battery section. Well, it gets the usual 5000mAh Lithium Polymer cell which provides a backup for a day. And to top it on, you get an in-box 67W SuperVOOC charger in the box. If you recall, its predecessor the Realme 11 Pro+ came with 100W charging.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Casual

But in my opinion, 67W is the sweet spot, charging 0-50% in 20 minutes and 0-100% in 50 minutes. It’s also good for the long run in terms of battery health.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Review: Conclusion

The Realme 12 Pro+ is a solid camera phone, there is no second thought to that. The 3X periscope camera is great and the main camera is also pretty good. Realme deserves some praise for featuring a periscope zoom lens in the midrange segment, which is nonexistent on other brand’s midrange phones. So, I’d call it a trendsetter with a gorgeous-looking vegan leather design.

The performance side could have been better though, with a more powerful chip like the a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The newly launched Realme GT 6T has a more powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. But for someone, who’s not deeply into gaming, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 caters well in all other areas. One thing, Realme should really work on is the bloatware side. It can be uninstalled or disabled but, the UI can be more cleaner and refined. Overall, the Realme 12 Pro+ is a very decent option, if you are vouching for 3X portraits and an attractive design in the upper midrange segment.

Realme 12 Pro Plus Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Stellar 3X periscope lens
  • Premium design
  • Good display
  • Decent stereo speakers

Cons

  • Comes with multiple Bloatware
  • 120Hz is not optimized properly
  • Cannot run 90/120fps games
