Apple is all set to shake things up with the 17th version of its device. From the rumors, it seems like the company plans to retire the Plus model in favour of an all-new “Slim” iPhone. Let’s dive into all the buzz surrounding the iPhone 17 Slim (or Air) and the things it might soon unveil.

Instead of being the ‘iPhone 17 Slim’, there’s a good chance that the upcoming phone might be launched with the “Air” moniker.

Mirroring the design philosophy of the MacBook Air and iPad Air, this new model emphasizes a lightweight and ultra-thin form factor, targeting casual consumers who prioritize portability and sleek design. Not only that, with a single rear camera, a titanium-aluminium alloy frame, and a focus on design over high-end features, the iPhone 17 Air aligns perfectly with the concept of a smooth, mid-range device. Although Apple has yet to make any official announcements, the “Air” designation seems to capture the essence of this new iPhone, suggesting a fresh approach to combining style and functionality in their product lineup.

However, most rumors point at it being called the iPhone 17 Slim so that’s what we are going with.

Even before the iPhone 16 hits the shelves, rumours about the iPhone 17 are already making waves in the tech world. A brand-new form factor for an iPhone is on its way.

Reports suggest that Apple is focusing more on aesthetics this time. As the name implies, the new model’s main attraction will be its thinness, unlike the Pro models, which emphasize camera quality and processing power to stand out from Apple’s standard iPhones.

Why the Slim?

According to a report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Plus model makes up only a small percentage of (5-10%) of all new iPhones sold. This suggests that the other three models (Standard, Pro, and Pro Max) are already meeting the needs of customers looking for high-end iPhones, and the Plus model doesn’t add much value and is considered “redundant”.

So, Apple may phase out the iPhone Plus, a larger-sized base model, in favour of the new iPhone 17 Slim in 2025. That being said, there is conflicting information regarding this where some reporters suggest that this upcoming model is not meant to replace existing models; while others claim that it will replace the “Plus” in the lineup.

Design and Display

The iPhone 17’s design features a sleek, ultra-thin profile with a titanium-aluminium alloy metal frame, emphasizing form-factor above everything. Well, this could be a clever idea for Apple to get customers excited about the iPhone’s design again. The size of the dynamic island is likely going to stay the same while the screen size is going to be 6.6 inches, with a resolution of 2,740 x 1,260.

Camera and Software

Speaking of the camera, the company’s super-slim iPhone may only have one main wide camera, meaning it would lack the ultrawide and telephoto lenses that have been staples within Apple’s premium iPhone lineup for years. Additionally, all iPhone 17 models, including the Slim, will feature an upgraded 24-megapixel front-facing camera which is a notable change from the 12-megapixel cameras found in current models.

The iPhone 17 will be powered by an A19 chip (not Pro) and will include Apple’s in-house 5G modem which hopefully will enhance connectivity.

However, charging the highest price of all the models for this one is quite underwhelming, especially considering that higher-end iPhones use the A19 Pro chip.

Motorola adds an object tracker — “Moto Tag” to its catalogue

We all remember AirTag and all the commotion it created. Now, Motorola too is offering a similar product to its customers. In this article, we will look into the Moto Tag in further detail and also discuss the chances of its availability and potential price in Nepal.

Moto Tag Overview

Design

The Moto Tag is quite similar to the AirTag as it is a circular disc. The dimensions of the two are nearly identical too with the former measuring 31.90 mm x 8.00 mm and the latter coming in at 32.00 mm x 7.90 mm. Given the design similarity, the Moto Tag goes well with various AirTag accessories. You get IP67 dust and water resistance on both the trackers too.

The two may be alike, but there are certain differentiating characteristics between them. Firstly, the Motorola offering has a protrusion on both sides while the AirTag has a smooth unibody. And Google is bringing its successor, on its August 13 event launch. Without further ado, let’s get straight into the rumours surrounding the upcoming Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold in this article today.

Design and Display

The upcoming Pixel 9 Pro Fold is set to be one of the thinnest foldable smartphones, with dimensions of 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5 mm when closed and 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1 mm when open. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with a huge 8-inch Super Actua Flex Display, known for its top-notch performance and flexibility, giving an immersive and dynamic visual experience.

Plus, it can reach a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits, a significant upgrade from the original Pixel Fold’s 1,450 nits. It claims to provide 24 hours of use on a single charge and extend up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver mode.

About storage, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers options up to 512GB, which is competitive with the Galaxy Fold 5G’s storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

Rumours suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 will come in two sizes: 41 mm (Selene/Helios) and 45 mm (Luna/Sol). Both of them will feature Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for improved connectivity. Android Authority confirms that this watch will use the same Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 chipset as last year’s model, ensuring continued high performance.

A major upgrade for the Pixel Watch 3 is its brighter 2,000 nits display, which doubles the brightness of the Pixel Watch 2 and matches the Apple Watch Series 9. The bezels are also getting slimmer, reducing from 5.5 mm to 4.5 mm for a sleeker look. Talking about the display, the 41 mm model will have a 408 x 408p panel, while the 45 mm model will feature a 456 x 456 pixels screen.

Design-wise, the Pixel Watch 3 will keep a similar look to the Pixel Watch 2 but some new colours: silver, black, gold (41 mm), and hazel (45 mm). Additionally, a new Rose Quartz band will be available to complement the Pixel 9. So this new watch is all set to deliver a brighter display, slimmer bezels, and fresh colour options.

Nvidia announced the flagship RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics cards back in September 2022 at the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) event. Whereas the company followed it up with the RTX 4070 Ti a couple of months later, which is reportedly three times more powerful than the flagship card in RTX 30 series, the RTX 3090 Ti. A bit of controversy

As aforementioned, NVIDIA kicked off the RTX 40 series with RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. And the 4080 came in two flavors: one with 12GB VRAM and the other with 16GB (among other differences).
