iQOO 11 Pro official with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 200W fast charging

1

Vivo’s sub-brand, iQOO, has just announced its latest flagship smartphone in China. The new iQOO 11 Pro packs the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, among other high-end hardware. In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the iQOO 11 Pro in Nepal.

iQOO 11 Pro Overview:

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip

As expected, iQOO 11 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The chip went official at the recent Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit and is based on TSMC’s new 4nm architecture.

It brings a new 1+4+3 CPU core structure with the Cortex X3 leading the line. Accompanying it are four Performance cores (2.8GHz) and three Efficiency cores (@2.0GHz). Likewise, the new Adreno 740 GPU on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the first in the lineup to offer hardware-accelerated ray tracing.

iQOO 11 Pro Internals

The chip has been paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

Vivo V2 ISP

In addition to Qualcomm’s flagship chip, iQOO 11 Pro rocks the latest V2 ISP engine from its parent company. Vivo unveiled the new NPU last month, and it first debuted on the Vivo X90 series.

Vivo V2 follows up the maiden V1 and the V1+ chip that came after it. It brings a dedicated SRAM which Vivo says reduces power consumption by 200% compared to traditional external DDR memory design.

Camera Setup

The new ISP enhances the imaging capability of iQOO 11 Pro’s triple camera setup that is housed inside the rectangular bump. iQOO has joined hands with Sony in developing the new custom VCS IMX866. It is being used as the primary camera on the 11 Pro. iQOO is hyping the new Bionic spectrum technology which it claims unlocks more vivid closer-to-life colors, 4K Super Night videos, and Zero-Shutter-Lag Motion Snapshot.

iQOO 11 Pro Camera Setup

There is another 50MP sensor which is paired with a 150-degree ultrawide lens. It even doubles as a macro camera. Finally, we have a 2x telephoto lens with 50mm focal length for portraits.

Design and Display

Over on the front, iQOO 11 Pro sports a 6.78-inch curved E6 AMOLED screen. It boasts a QHD resolution as well as LTPO 4.0-facilitated 144Hz refresh rate. The screen has a peak brightness of 1800 nits and 1400Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to nullify flickers. You can even enjoy HDR content on the phone, courtesy of the HDR10+ certification.

The new V2 chip has a job here as well working as an independent graphics chip. As per iQOO, the chip boosts fps and reduces power consumption, while also enhancing other visual elements of the games.

iQOO 11 Pro Legendary Edition

iQOO is continuing its partnership with BMW with the 11 series as well. The iQOO Pro is available in a Legendary Edition with tri-color stripes on the back. New to this year is an Isle of Man Special Edition. The phone is also available in a matte black “Track” color option.

200W Ultra Flash Charging

While last year’s iQOO 10 Pro capped at 120W charging, the company has improved it significantly up to 200W on its successor. For this ultra-fast charging, iQOO has adopted a 10C battery of 4,700mAh battery composed of two distinct cells. Moreover, iQOO has implemented a 3-pump charging scheme. The phone ships with a compatible GaN charger as well as a 1.5m charging cable.

iQOO 11 Pro Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 164.76×75.30×8.89/9.10mm; 210.5/213g

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro goes official with world’s first “retractable” portrait camera

0

Tecno has just introduced a new smartphone under its premium Phantom sub-brand. Called the Phantom X2 Pro, it is the world’s first smartphone to feature a retractable portrait lens. Let’s take a look at what Tecno has to offer with the Phantom X2 Pro, as well as its expected price in Nepal.

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro Overview:

Design, Display

The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro sports a unique design for a smartphone. Especially, its centrally located large camera module on the back looks extra-ordinary. It even has a decorative ring around one of its cameras. So it’s easily distinguishable from the sea of similar-looking smartphones.

Furthermore, the X2 Pro is available in an Eco-Friendly Edition with a microfiber back cover made from recycled ocean materials. According to Tecno, ocean waste was first transformed into microfibers through a complex and multi-stage process.

It is then woven to create a strong, long-lasting material for the back panel. All this tech is packed in the Mars Orange color variant. Whereas, there is a Stardust Grey variant with a glass back.

Up front, you’re looking at a 6.8-inch Full HD+ curved AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus Protection. This is a 10-bit panel that covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. Likewise, the bezels on the top and bottom are quite minimal as well.

Performance

In charge of things inside the chassis is a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. This is a big lead from the original Phantom X which was equipped with a mid-range Helio G95 processor.

Based on TSMC’s 4nm SoC, the SoC has a high-performance Cortex-X2 (3.05 GHz) core, three Cortex-A710 (2.85 GHz) performance cores, and four Cortex-A510 (1.8 GHz) efficiency cores.

Sure, Tecno could have gone with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Dimensity 9200 SoC. But the Dimensity 9000 is a capable chipset in its own right. Memory options are limited to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It comes pre-installed with Android 12-based HiOS 12.

Cameras

Let’s now talk about the highlight of this guy, the cameras. It comes with a 50MP Samsung JN1 retractable portrait lens with support for 2.5x zoom. As a result, you can even use it as a telephoto lens. The reason behind the name “retractable” lens is that the phone has a mechanism that extends the camera lens outward when in use and retracts it afterward.

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro Camera

On the other hand, this portrait lens has a bright f/1.5 aperture, which is quite wide for a 65mm smartphone camera. This brings in two advantages.  First, it allows more light to reach the sensor. Second, its shallow depth of field produces natural bokeh for portrait shots.

The portrait lens is paired with a 50MP Samsung GNV primary camera with a 1/1.3″ ISOCELL 3.0 sensor. Although the large 1/1.3” unit helps to capture more light, Tecno has also used an RGBW sensor and a glass element on the camera to increase light intake.

The remaining lens is a 13MP Samsung 3L6 ultra-wide camera which can also take macro shots. A 32MP camera with an f/1.5 aperture is there for selfies.

Rest of the specs

Besides this, the smartphone features a big 5160mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. Biometric options include an in-display fingerprint sensor. Likewise, you get all the major connectivity options such as 5G (SA/NSA), Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 ax), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C.

Tecno Phantom X2 Pro Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 164.6 x 72.7 x 8.9mm
  • Display: 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus
  • SoC: MediaTek Dimensity 9000 (4nm)
  • Memory: 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage
  • OS: Android 12 with HiOS 12
  • Cameras: Triple;
    – 50MP primary lens with 1/1.3″ Samsung GNV sensor, f/1.9
    – 50MP ISOCELL JN1 retractable sensor, f/1.5 (65mm telephoto, 2.5x optical zoom)
    – 13 MP ultrawide camera, f/2.2
  • Selfie: 32MP, f/2.5
  • Biometric: In-display fingerprint sensor

Nothing Ear (Stick) with a lipstick-like case launched in Nepal

1

Nothing officially announced the Ear (Stick), its second pair of TWS earbuds after the Ear (1) about a month ago. The announcement follows an official tease at Chet Lo’s SS23 London Fashion Week show. And now, it has made its way to Nepal as well. So, let’s take a look at the official specifications, features, availability, and price of the Nothing Ear (Stick) in Nepal.

Nothing Ear (Stick) Overview:

Design

Visually, the Ear (Stick) is completely different from Ear (1)’s slab design. It is now more cylindrical in shape, like lipstick. The new design is expected to be more pocketable. And since transparency has almost become synonymous with Nothing, it’s fairly obvious that the company has prioritized transparent design in the Ear (Stick) as well.

Nothing Ear (Stick) Design

The case twists open to reveal the earbuds, which are half-in-ear in design, similar to Apple Airpods 3. As a result of this design choice, the Ear (Stick) lacks support for Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). However, you do get Clear Voice Technology, which uses the three microphones on each earbud to make wind and crowd-proof calls.

Each bud weighs only 4.4 grams and is dust and water-resistant to IP54 standards. Similarly, you can use touch gestures to play, pause, and skip music, control volume, and activate voice assistant.

Sound and Connectivity

Nothing claims that the custom 12.6mm driver in the Ear (Stick) provides their most advanced audio experience yet. It produces authentic sound with minimal distortion and amplified fine details as a result of this. The company also asserts that the sound quality remains consistent across a wide range of frequency ranges.

Nothing Ear (Stick) Connectivity

Additionally, Ear (Stick) features Nothing’s Bass Lock technology, which recognizes bass loss as you wear the earbuds and adjusts the equalizer setting to the perfect level to deliver punchy depth.

For connectivity, the TWS buds support Google Fast Pair and Microsft Swift Pair. Nothing has also renamed the Ear (1) app to ‘Nothing X’ to reflect its growing product portfolio.

The app now includes a new equalizer setting to fine-tune the sound to your preferences. Likewise, it allows you to switch to low-latency, Bass mode, and other settings. But for phone (1) users it’s easier to access these settings since everything is baked into the Bluetooth settings.

Rest of the specs

Aside from that, the Nothing Ear (Stick) has a total battery life of 29 hours with the case. Each bud, on the other hand, has a 7-hour playback time. The TWS buds can also be fast-charged, with a 10-minute charge providing up to 90 minutes of listening time. However, unlike the Ear (1), the case does not support wireless charging here.

Nothing Ear (Stick) Specifications:

  • Driver: Custom 12.6mm audio driver
  • Diaphragm: PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate) + PU (Polyurethane)
  • Connectivity: Wireless (Google Fast Pair, Microsft Swift Pair)
  • Audio codecs: AAC, SBC
  • Music time: 7 hours (buds) | 29 hours (with case)
  • IP rating: Yes, IP54 dust and water resistance
  • Noise-canceling: N/A
  • Color: White

Oppo outlines Android 13-based ColorOS 13 December update timeline

Oppo released the official version of ColorOS 13 in August, along with a rollout plan for the rest of the year. Besides this, it has been releasing a separate update plan every month to make it easier to track down the timeline. Here we will go through the list of devices that are eligible for Android-13-based ColorOS 13.

Oppo ColorOS 13 Update Roadmap

Oppo began rolling out the new Android-based skin refresh to the flagship Find X5 Series in August, the same day ColorOS 13 was made official globally. Since then, the smartphone maker has released the update to more than a dozen devices.

By the end of 2022, the company plans to leverage ColoOS 13 to 35 smartphones in 60 countries and regions. The new UI will make its way to more than 20 other devices beginning in 2023. According to Oppo, “this is the biggest update plan ever in the history of ColorOS.”

However, this is not a stable UI refresh; rather, the company is releasing the beta version of ColorOS 13. As a result, only users who have enrolled in the trial program will be eligible for the update.

But worry not, you’ll get a stable version after the company irons out all of the bugs found during the beta phase. Let’s now take a look at the ColorOS 13 rollout timeline based on Android 13.

What’s new in Oppo ColorOS 13?

Anamorphic Design

Oppo has introduced an “Aquamorphic Design” with the new skin which is inspired by how water behaves in nature. The new UI design improves the overall system layout with new fonts and typography, which improves readability.

OPPO has also collaborated with service providers such as Bitmoji and Spotify to offer a variety of convenient and personalized experiences on the lock screen. As a result, Oppo is citing it as a “Smart Always-on Display.”

Multi-Screen Connect

Furthermore, one of the most significant updates in the new UI is the Multi-screen connect feature. It basically allows you to connect your smartphone to the OPPO Pad Air or a PC. Thus, you will have the convenience of file transfer without the need for any hardware, which in turn will increase your productivity.

Privacy and Security

In terms of security, ColorsOS 13 from Oppo incorporates Android 13‘s underlying privacy feature. For example, the system will automatically delete the clipboard history after a short period of time, preventing information breaches or leaks. And the Nearby Wi-Fi feature allows users to connect to Wi-Fi without revealing their exact location.

Likewise, there’s a new Oppo self-developed technology, called Auto Pixelate which can automatically recognize and blur out profile photos and names in chat screenshots with a single tap.
