VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED unveiled with Asus’s glasses-free 3D technology

In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the new Asus VivoBook Pro 16x 3D OLED in Nepal. It is one of the only two laptops with Spatial Vision — a term coined by Asus for glasses-free autostereoscopic 3D technology and features the latest components by Intel and NVIDIA.

Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED Overview:

Glass-less 3D Experience

The new VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED is the world’s first 3D OLED laptop— a title it shares with a more premium ProArt Studio 16 3D OLED. They both use what Asus calls Spatial Vision. It is an in-house 3D technology that doesn’t need any special glasses or headgear. It seamlessly adds visual depth to the normal 2D content that users can enjoy with their naked eye.

Asus Spatial Vision technology adds multiple optical layers on top of the OLED with optical resin for the 3D effect. This includes a lenticular lens layer and a liquid crystal switching layer—topped up with the AR-coated glass front. The liquid crystal switching layer helps the laptop to switch between 2D and 3D modes. It is the lenticular lens system that creates the 3D effect by directing stereo images separately to the left and right eyes.

Asus Spatial Vision glass-free 3D Technology

Helping this whole setup is an eye-tracking technology. Asus has installed two sensors on the top bezels of the VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED that tracks your head movement to optimize Spatial Vision accordingly.

Beautiful OLED Display

Even without the glasses-less autostereoscopic 3D tech, the display on the VivoBook Pro 16x 3D OLED is a head-turner in its own right. It has a 3.2K OLED screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio for that extra bit of vertical space. The screen refreshes at 120Hz and boasts a 0.2ms response time. It can come in handy for content creators since it has 100% DCI-P3 coverage and Pantone validation. Even for multimedia, it supports Dolby Vision HDR and can get bright up to 550 nits.

Inside it packs the “desktop-grade” Intel Core i9-13980HX— the most powerful processor in the newly announced 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” mobile lineup. It is a 24-core CPU with 8 Performance and 16 Efficient cores. The P-cores support Hyper-threading and boast max turbo frequency of 5.6GHz with Intel TVB technology.

It is paired with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU on the graphics front. It is based on the latest Ada Lovelace GPU architecture, and it brings improved ray tracing and DLSS 3.0. In addition, Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED also has a MUX switch which users can use to switch to enable dGPU mode.

Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED CPU and GPU

This will result in a 5-10% performance uplift over the default hybrid mode at the expense of battery life. Creators would be delighted to know that this GPU is backed by the official NVIDIA Studio Driver—ensuring the best performance in creative workload.

To keep the laptop in high-performance mode for a prolonged duration, Asus has installed the IceCool technology, which ensures the CPU and GPU run at a combined 150W.

Battery and Connectivity

The new Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED gets its juice from a large 4-cell 90Wh battery. And it ships with a 240W AC adapter which can fill the battery up to 50% in 30 minutes. Users can also use the two Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery to charge the laptop. That aside, you get two USB-A, one HDMI 2.1, one Gigabit Ethernet, one SD 4.0 card reader, and a combined audio jack. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.

Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED Ports

Rest of the Specs

Asus VivoBook Pro 16X 3D OLED also comes with a physical DialPad. Mostly associated with Adobe apps, users can use it on other apps like text editor and music player. The ErgoSense keyboard has dashed keycaps for a better typing experience. The stereo audio is tuned by Harman/Kardon and comes with a bunch of software, such as the in-house Audio Booster and Dolby Atmos.

Lenovo launches productivity focused dual-screen laptop, the Yoga Book 9i (2023)

There were many interesting products on display at CES 2023, but one of the most innovative was the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023). It’s the world’s first full-sized dual-screen laptop, specifically build to increase your productivity. More about the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023), and its expected price in Nepal here.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023) Overview:

Design, Display

The front of the Yoga Book 9i is all about showing off. There is no keyboard or trackpad, only two 13.3-inch screens placed side by side. Both have 2.8K resolution, a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and Dolby Vision HDR support.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023) Display and Design

Unlike the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold, which is a true foldable laptop, the screens on the Yoga Book 9i are separated by a visual hinge in the middle. Moreover, you can use just one screen and have a fairly typical laptop experience. If you want it that way, the bottom screen pops up a virtual keyboard and trackpad. But if you prefer the tactile feel of a key press, there is also support for a detachable Bluetooth keyboard.

Lenovo Yoga Book 9i (2023) Convertible Modes

There’s obviously more you can do with this dual-screen setup. Like you could watch videos on one screen while taking notes on the other. Lenovo gives the example of displaying a PowerPoint presentation on one screen while displaying presentation controls and notes on the other. Both screens support a stylus, making it easier to take notes and do other tasks.

There are countless things you can do with it. And remember, you have to stack them vertically or side by side to get a dual-monitor experience. Lenovo includes a stand that can be used to position the screens vertically.

Performance

Powering the laptop is a 13th Gen Intel U-series processor—specifically the Core i7-1355U and Core i5-1335U. These are both 15W TDP processors with 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores. Memory-wise, it will be available with up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Fueling the laptop is an 80Whr cell that is claimed to deliver up to 10 hours of dual-screen video playback.

“Color-shifting” Gram Style leads LG’s latest lineup of ultraslim laptops

0

LG has updated its Gram lineup of ultraslim laptops at the ongoing CES 2023. It is not just another refresh — the 2023 lineup brings two new entries: LG Gram Ultraslim and the Gram Style. So, let’s dive into the details of the new LG Gram lineup of ultraslim laptops (2023).

LG Gram 2023 Lineup Overview:

The latest lineup of the LG Gram lineup brings two new models to the already existing Gram and Gram 2-in-1 models. All the new laptops by LG are powered by the 13th Gen Intel “Raptor Lake” mobile processors in form factors ranging from 14” to 17”. The regular LG Gram even brings the option of discrete graphics. The 2023 LG Gram lineup brings Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and Dolby Atmos audio.

LG Gram Style

The standout LG laptop of this year is undoubtedly the new Gram Style. It embodies the ultraslim nature of the Gram lineup while adding a bit of flair of its own to justify its name. It is not just made up of a single block of magnesium, LG has integrated glass into the design of the new Gram Style. As result, the laptop can dynamically switch its color irrespective of any shiny color option you opt for.

This glow extends to the keyboard deck inside too. The palm rest is one large smooth surface with no signs of a touchpad, except for the lights shining on the two side lights. These light up when you interact with the Dell XPS 13 Plus-like touchpad. LG has even integrated a haptic on the touchpad for satisfying feedback.

LG Gram Style 2023

Another highlight of the LG Gram Style is its “Anti-Glare Low Reflection” display. Each LG Gram Style sport a 16:10 OLED with 400 nits of brightness. You can choose between a 16-inch model with a 120Hz refresh rate or a smaller 14-inch model that refreshes at a modest 90Hz rate. The two models also pack different-sized batteries—72Wh on the 14-inch and 80Wh on the 16-inch.

Fueling it is a 60Whr battery—the smallest in the new lineup, but that should not be a surprise given by sensitive LG has been for the weight of this laptop

Like the LG Gram Style discussed above, the new Gram Ultraslim also packs Intel’s latest laptop processors and has a military-grade certification. It comes in a single 15.6-inch OLED model with an FHD resolution and 60Hz refresh being nothing special to write home about.

Razer unveils Blade 16 with world’s first “dual-mode” Mini LED display

2

Razer took the stage at the ongoing CES 2023 to announce the new generation of Blade gaming laptops. Unveiled at the event are the new Blade 16 and Blade 18 — both new addition as Razer only offered 15” and 16” models prior to this. In this article, we will be discuss the Razer Blade 16 in more detail, including the specs, features, expected price and availability in Nepal.

Razer Blade 16 Overview:

Display

The main highlight of the new Razer Blade 16 is the dual-display mode. This gaming laptop comes with a 16” Mini LED screen with switchable resolutions and refresh rates. You can switch between 240Hz FHD and 120Hz 4K modes. The latter even boosts the peak brightness to 1000 nits, up from 600 nits on the former. So, the 4K mode will come in handy in content creation, while the FHD mode will give users an edge in competitive gaming.

However, the dual-display mode is available in select configurations. For the most part, Razer Blade 16 will ship with a 16” QHD+ IPS screen with 240Hz and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen still covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has a peak brightness of 500 nits. It may not sound as exciting as the Mini LED version, but it isn’t a bad option either.

Design and Build

Despite having a bigger 16:10 display, the new Blade 16 is not considerably bigger than last year’s Blade 15. It has almost the same width but is 5mm thicker and slightly heavier at 5.4 pounds. It comes in a CNC-milled aluminum chassis with an anodized finish on top. The laptop even has the iconic Razer logo on top of the matte black aluminum.

The ports are distributed on the two sides. On the right, there is a Thunderbolt 4, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, an HDMI, a MicroSD card slot, and a Kensington security lock. On the other side, Razer has included two USB-A, one USB-C, a combined audio jack, and a power-in.

Samsung announces SmartThings Station to elevate your smart home experience

1

At CES 2023, Samsung has unveiled a new product called the SmartThings Station. It’s a 2-in-1 device that allows you to easily control and manage all of your connected devices through a single interface. And also let you use it as a wireless charging pad. More about the Samsung SmartThings Station and its expected price in Nepal here.

Samsung SmartThings Station Overview:

The SmartThings Station is a device that aims to simplify the process of managing your smart home. It acts as a hub for all of your connected devices, allowing you to control and automate different aspects of your home environment from a single device.

Setting it up is quite easy and straightforward. When you first turn it on, a pop-up message will appear on your compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone, guiding you through the setup process. You can also use your smartphone or tablet to set up the device by scanning QR codes.

Create suitable routines

One of the convenient features of this hub is the physical button, known as the Smart Button. Located at the hub’s pad, this button can be used to activate pre-programmed routines that control all of your smart home devices. Matter of fact, you can create these routines in the SmartThings app.

Samsung SmartThings Create Routines

You could, for example, create a night routine that includes turning off lights, closing blinds, and lowering the temperature. It can then be activated via a quick tap of the Smart Button before going to bed.

The SmartThings Station can store up to three different routines, which can be activated by a short, long, or double press. And obviously, you can control your routines from afar by using the SmartThings app on your smartphone or tablet.

SmartThings Find

Furthermore, the smart hub can be used to track your device. If you can’t find a phone or other device that’s connected to your SmartThings hub, you can use the SmartThings Find feature to find it. You can simply double-press the button on the pad to enable it. And this will cause the connected device to ring, making it easier to find.

Charging Pad

Samsung SmartThings Wireless Charging

As aforementioned, the SmartThings station also functions as a charging pad, with a charging speed of 15W. You can even opt to receive notifications when the charging is complete.

Samsung SmartThings Station Price in Nepal and Availability

As for the pricing, it costs USD 60 and will be available in US and Korea in early 2023. We expect the price of the Samsung SmartThings Station to be NPR 4,999, if and when it launches in Nepal.
