“Color-shifting” Gram Style leads LG’s latest lineup of ultraslim laptops

LG has updated its Gram lineup of ultraslim laptops at the ongoing CES 2023. It is not just another refresh — the 2023 lineup brings two new entries: LG Gram Ultraslim and the Gram Style. So, let’s dive into the details of the new LG Gram lineup of ultraslim laptops (2023).

LG Gram 2023 Lineup Overview:

The latest lineup of the LG Gram lineup brings two new models to the already existing Gram and Gram 2-in-1 models. All the new laptops by LG are powered by the 13th Gen Intel “Raptor Lake” mobile processors in form factors ranging from 14” to 17”. The regular LG Gram even brings the option of discrete graphics. The 2023 LG Gram lineup brings Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and Dolby Atmos audio.

LG Gram Style

The standout LG laptop of this year is undoubtedly the new Gram Style. It embodies the ultraslim nature of the Gram lineup while adding a bit of flair of its own to justify its name. It is not just made up of a single block of magnesium, LG has integrated glass into the design of the new Gram Style. As result, the laptop can dynamically switch its color irrespective of any shiny color option you opt for.

This glow extends to the keyboard deck inside too. The palm rest is one large smooth surface with no signs of a touchpad, except for the lights shining on the two side lights. These light up when you interact with the Dell XPS 13 Plus-like touchpad. LG has even integrated a haptic on the touchpad for satisfying feedback.

Another highlight of the LG Gram Style is its “Anti-Glare Low Reflection” display. Each LG Gram Style sport a 16:10 OLED with 400 nits of brightness. You can choose between a 16-inch model with a 120Hz refresh rate or a smaller 14-inch model that refreshes at a modest 90Hz rate. The two models also pack different-sized batteries—72Wh on the 14-inch and 80Wh on the 16-inch.

Dizo, Realme’s first brand in the Techlife ecosystem, has just announced the Dizo Watch D Pro. The wearable comes with a custom D1 chipset, AMOLED screen, and more. So, let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Dizo Watch D Pro in Nepal.

The Dizo Watch D Pro is the company’s first with a custom chipset, called the D1. This SoC (system on chip) has an integrated GPU (graphics processing unit) and 4x larger RAM capacity compared to a standard smartwatch. As a result, it is claimed to offer a smooth and seamless scrolling experience with enhanced animations.

It runs on Dizo OS which offers a wide range of features, such as the ability to choose from over 150 watch faces (including animated options). Dizo also claims that all five watch faces stored in the watch are completely customizable.

Moreover, the Watch D Pro offers a range of health-tracking abilities including 100+ sports modes, allowing you to track and monitor your physical activity and performance. As expected, you can also monitor your heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation), and sleep from the watch itself. All of these metrics can be easily viewed on the Dizo Health App.

Not only this, but you can also make and take calls directly from the watch, thanks to the built-in speaker and microphone. It features a 120% larger speaker driver for clearer audio, says Dizo. And it even has a noise reduction feature for making the voice sound clear to the recipient. The watch also supports voice assistant, by the way.

Design, Display

As for the design, the smartwatch comes in a standard square dial boasting a 1.85-inch AMOLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The screen has a 2.5D curve and features a 368 x 448-pixel resolution, and a peak brightness of 600 nits.

The frame surrounding the display is made of aluminum whereas you get a silicon strap to go along with it. Dizo says that the watch is fully washable, but does not specify whether it has an IP rating. It gets its juice via a 270mAh cell that is claimed to deliver up to 7 days of run time.

Razer Blade 18 announced with up to Intel i9-13980HX, RTX 4090

Along with the new Blade 16, Razer also unveiled its first 18” gaming laptop — Blade 18. This new gaming laptop pairs 13th Gen Raptor Lake HX-series processors with RTX 40-series mobile GPUs and is the most powerful laptop in the Blade lineup. So, let’s get into the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Razer Blade 18 in Nepal.

Razor Blade 18 Overview:

CPU and Memory

There is a reason Razer is calling the new Blade 18 the desktop replacement. This laptop is powered by the latest 13th Gen HX-series Intel Core processors. These processors use the same die as their desktop counterparts but with a few optimizations for mobile form factor. That said, Razer is offering the Blade 18 in two CPU variants.

The first one is the Intel Core i9-13950HX with 24 cores, 32 threads, and a maximum clock speed of up to 5.5GHz. It is the CPU that you will find in most SKUs except for the top-of-the-line model, which sports the i9-13980HX. Most of the specs are still similar. However, the 13980HX brings a higher-clocked Performance and Efficient cores.

Over on the GPU, Razer has opted for the latest RTX 40-series mobile GPU— with the max TGP possible for each. The new Blade 18 comes with RTX 4060 and RTX 4080 on the extreme ends, while Razer also has options with RTX 4070 and RTX 4080 in between. For creators, the laptop is part of NVIDIA’s Studio certification.

Display and Design

The screen is another highlight of the Razer Blade 18. The laptop sports an 18” IPS panel with QHD+ resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. For gamers, the screen refreshes at 240Hz and boasts a response time of just 3ms. Outside of gaming, you can use the Raze Blade 18 for content creation. The laptop covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, and each is individually calibrated right out of the factory.

The chassis of the Razer Blade 18 is built entirely out of a single block of aluminum using the CNC milling process. It is finished with adonized black finish. You can also get the green backlit Razer logo on the lid. The main body measures 21.9mm in thickness and weighs around 3.2 kg.

Fueling the Blade 18 is a 91.7Wh Lithium-ion polymer battery, and Razer ships it with a 280W/330W GaN power adapter. Thanks to the 18” form factor, the laptop has a rich port selection. Razer unveils Blade 16 with world’s first “dual-mode” Mini LED display

Razer took the stage at the ongoing CES 2023 to announce the new generation of Blade gaming laptops. Unveiled at the event are the new Blade 16 and Blade 18 — both new addition as Razer only offered 15” and 16” models prior to this. In this article, we will be discuss the Razer Blade 16 in more detail, including the specs, features, expected price and availability in Nepal.

Razer Blade 16 Overview:

Display

The main highlight of the new Razer Blade 16 is the dual-display mode. This gaming laptop comes with a 16” Mini LED screen with switchable resolutions and refresh rates. You can switch between 240Hz FHD and 120Hz 4K modes. The latter even boosts the peak brightness to 1000 nits, up from 600 nits on the former. So, the 4K mode will come in handy in content creation, while the FHD mode will give users an edge in competitive gaming.

However, the dual-display mode is available in select configurations. For the most part, Razer Blade 16 will ship with a 16” QHD+ IPS screen with 240Hz and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The screen still covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and has a peak brightness of 500 nits. It may not sound as exciting as the Mini LED version, but it isn’t a bad option either.

Design and Build

Despite having a bigger 16:10 display, the new Blade 16 is not considerably bigger than last year’s Blade 15. It has almost the same width but is 5mm thicker and slightly heavier at 5.4 pounds. It comes in a CNC-milled aluminum chassis with an anodized finish on top. The laptop even has the iconic Razer logo on top of the matte black aluminum.

The ports are distributed on the two sides. On the right, there is a Thunderbolt 4, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, an HDMI, a MicroSD card slot, and a Kensington security lock. On the other side, Razer has included two USB-A, one USB-C, a combined audio jack, and a power-in.

Inside, the new Razer Blade 16 packs the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13950HX processor with 24 cores, 32 threads, and clock speeds of up to 5.5GHz. Acer Predator Helios is getting a big upgrade this year as the company has launched a new 18-inch variant. Like every Predator-line laptop, it packs top-shelf hardware, but in a not-so-portable form factor (at least not this time). So let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Acer Predator Helios 18 in Nepal.

Design, Display

To begin, the Helios 18 features a big 18-inch screen in various resolutions: WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) at 165 Hz, WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) at 165 Hz or 240 Hz, and WQXGA at 250 Hz with a mini LED screen. The latter has 1000 local dimming zones and is said to have three times the contrast ratio of standard displays. Regardless of the configuration, they all have a 16:10 aspect ratio and Nvidia Advanced Optimus support.

Lenovo announces laptop-inspired ThinkPhone by Motorola

At the CES show, Lenovo and Motorola unveiled their first co-branded smartphone, the ThinkPhone by Motorola. As the name suggests, it is inspired by a ThinkPad laptop and even features Lenovo’s signature red button. In this section, we will go over the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Motorola Lenovo ThinkPhone in Nepal.

Design, Display

To begin with, the ThinkPhone by Motorola features a rugged yet unique design that resembles the recently released ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5. It’s made of an aramid fiber back panel which is claimed to be stronger than steel. And the device’s frame is built with aircraft-grade aluminum.

Likewise, the ThinkPhone is IP68 certified, meaning it can withstand being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for a half hour. Samsung announces SmartThings Station to elevate your smart home experience

At CES 2023, Samsung has unveiled a new product called the SmartThings Station. It’s a 2-in-1 device that allows you to easily control and manage all of your connected devices through a single interface. And also let you use it as a wireless charging pad. Samsung SmartThings Station Overview:

The SmartThings Station is a device that aims to simplify the process of managing your smart home. It acts as a hub for all of your connected devices, allowing you to control and automate different aspects of your home environment from a single device.

Setting it up is quite easy and straightforward. When you first turn it on, a pop-up message will appear on your compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphone, guiding you through the setup process. You can also use your smartphone or tablet to set up the device by scanning QR codes.

Create suitable routines

One of the convenient features of this hub is the physical button, known as the Smart Button. Located at the hub’s pad, this button can be used to activate pre-programmed routines that control all of your smart home devices. Matter of fact, you can create these routines in the SmartThings app.

You could, for example, create a night routine that includes turning off lights, closing blinds, and lowering the temperature. It can then be activated via a quick tap of the Smart Button before going to bed.

The SmartThings Station can store up to three different routines, which can be activated by a short, long, or double press. And obviously, you can control your routines from afar by using the SmartThings app on your smartphone or tablet.

SmartThings Find

Furthermore, the smart hub can be used to track your device. If you can’t find a phone or other device that’s connected to your SmartThings hub, you can use the SmartThings Find feature to find it. You can simply double-press the button on the pad to enable it. And this will cause the connected device to ring, making it easier to find.

As aforementioned, the SmartThings station also functions as a charging pad, with a charging speed of 15W. You can even opt to receive notifications when the charging is complete.

Samsung Galaxy F04 goes official with MediaTek Helio P35, 5,000mAh battery

Samsung has launched its latest F-series phone in India. The newly announced F04 is an entry-level largely based on the M04 launched last month. In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Samsung Galaxy F04 in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy F04 Overview:

Design and Display

Samsung has built the Galaxy F04 around the 6.5-inch LCD screen. It is an HD+ panel with a waterdrop notch on top for the selfie camera. Since it’s a budget smartphone, it refreshes at the standard 60Hz and comes with noticeable bezels.

F04 has a textured back with two circular cutouts for the dual camera setup. Samsung calls it the “Gloss” design and it is available in two colors: Jade Purple and Opal Green. The main body is made of plastic and it is 9.1mm thick and weighs around 188 grams.

Performance and Memory

Samsung Galaxy F04 packs the MediaTek Helio P35. It is a 12nm octa-core processor announced back in 2018. Thus, it won’t be of much help for anything but normal day-to-day tasks. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Users can double the RAM using the virtual RAM feature. In addition, there is an option to expand the storage up to 1TB using a MicroSD card.

Camera

The dual-camera setup at the back of the Galaxy F04 is led by a 13MP primary sensor. Accompanying it is a 2MP depth sensor and a LED flash. There are options to shoot hyper-lapse videos, panoramas, and portraits inside the default camera app. Likewise, users get a 5MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calls.

Samsung Galaxy F04 gets its juice from a 5,000mAh battery. It has support for 15W charging via the Type-C port. The phone ships with Android 12 out of the box and Samsung has promised at least two years of Android updates.

Intel announces 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” mobile processors with up to 24 cores

After impressing the PC industry with the 12th Gen desktop chips, Intel has just announced the mobile lineup of the Raptor Lake processors. The company has kickstarted CES 2023 with the announcement of the latest U-series, P-series, H-series, and HX-series of laptop processors— each series catering to a specific group. In this article, we will discuss the latest 13th Gen Raptor Lake Intel mobile processors in more detail.

Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake Mobile Processors

Like their desktop counterparts, the new Raptor Lake mobile processors are based on Intel’s latest hybrid architecture. Based on the now-matured Intel 7 process, they bring a combination of high-performing Performance cores (P-cores) and efficiency-first Efficient (E-cores). They work in tandem thanks to the Intel Thread Director, which works alongside the operating system (OS) to deploy the most appropriate core depending on the task at hand.

13th Gen Intel Core HX-series Mobile

At the top of the new Raptor Lake mobile hierarchy is the HX series. These are “desktop-level” processors for extreme-performance laptops. Out of the nine chips announced, the Core i9-13980HX stole the show. It is a 24-core chip, divided into 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores with the former supporting Intel Hyper-Threading. As a result, the total thread count is 32.

Intel has two more 24-core laptop processors: Core i9-13950HX and Core i9-13900Hx. They all share the same Core/Thread counts as well as the base frequencies of the Performance and Efficient clusters. However, the 12980HX edges past the other two with P-Core turbo and E-Core turbo at 5.6GHz and 4.0GHz, respectively. The i9-13950HX is a close second with the same E-Core Turbo but a lightly slower P-Core Turbo of 2.5GHz. Lastly, the Core i9-13900HX reaches Turbo frequencies of 3.9GHz and 5.4GHz for E-cores and P-cores, respectively.

There are six more options, divided evenly between Core i7 and Core i5. They max out at 30 cores (8P+12E/28T) and 24 cores (6P+8E/20T), respectively.

Moreover, the HX series brings support for DDR5-5600 and DDR4-3200 RAM. You can pair with up to 128GB of RAM using the 4 DIMM slots in a 2DPC arrangement. The new HX series also supports XMP3.0 dynamic overclocking. Likewise, there is support for PCIe 5.0 x16, Intel Killer Wi-Fi, 6E, and Bluetooth LE Audio. There are no built-in Thunderbolt controllers, but OEMs can add up to 2 discrete controllers if they want to. That aside, the desktop-level Raptor Lake HX-series support up to 14 USB 2 and 10 USB 3 ports.

13th Gen Intel Core H-series Mobile

A step below the high-end HX series is the H series. These are not desktop-grade and are meant for more traditional performance-seeking laptop users. They max out 14 cores, with 6 intended for heavy workloads and the rest for background tasks. There are six processors with this Cores/Thread count, with the Intel Core i9-13900HK leading the line. It is the only 13th Gen H-series SKU with support for CPU overclocking and Intel vPro Essentials.

One of the key factors differentiating the H-series (and the P and U series) from the HX-series is the readily available Thunderbolt 4 controllers and support for LPDDR4x and LPDDR5x RAM on the former. In addition, it brings support for up to 4 USB 2, 10 USB 3, and 2 SATA 3.0 ports.

Entry-level Poco C50 goes official with MediaTek A22, 13MP camera

After teasing the phone for weeks, Poco has finally launched the C50 today at an event in India. It takes on last year’s C40 as the brand’s latest entry-level phone. Here, we will discuss the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the new Poco C50 in Nepal.

Poco C50 Overview:

Design and Display

Like most of Poco’s launches post its spin-off from Xiaomi, the C50 is not an entirely new product. The phone is hugely based on the Redmi A1/A1+ that you can buy in Nepal. It is not that hard to figure out, given the close resemblance between the C50 and A1 series.

Poco C50 has an all-plastic build with a 9.09mm thickness and a weight of 192 grams. The back of the device, along with the corners, are curved for an ergonomic grip. Moreover, the rear panel has a leather-like texture, adding a bit of premium touch.

Over on the front, Poco has included a big 6.52-inch LCD screen with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. It is an HD+ screen with a 120Hz touch-sampling rate.

Performance and Memory

Inside, Poco C50 comes with the Helio A22 chipset, which is almost half a decade old. What is more disappointing is that it is a quad-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. For context, the JLQ JR510 on the C40 features two quad-core clusters of more capable Cortex-A55 cores — clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.0GHz, respectively.

That aside, Poco C50 ships with up to 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The latter is expandable up to 512GB by inserting a microSD card.

Camera

The squarish camera module with rounded corners is reminiscent of the Mi 11 series. However, the camera hardware is nowhere near the same. On the Poco C50, we get a modest dual-camera setup consisting of an 8MP primary sensor and a depth sensor. Likewise, you get a 5MP selfie camera housed by the notch.

Foco C50 comes with a 5,000mAh battery pack and supports 10W charging. Given the entry-level specs, Poco C50 ships with Android 12 Go. You get a physical fingerprint scanner on the back for biometric login.
