Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Overview:

200MP ISOCELL HP2 Sensor

After sticking to 108MP sensors for a few years, trying to perfect it, Samsung has now leapt to 200MP cameras with the S23 Ultra. A 200MP sensor is not anything new since multiple phones have had it in 2022. Even the rumours of a 200MP Samsung phone even date back to early 2021.

The first phone with a 200MP camera was Motorola X30 Pro with the ISOCELL HP1 sensor. Made by Samsung, it is the first 200MP image sensor for phones and went into mass production just last year. Since then, Samsung has also brought a couple of other 200MP sensors, ISOCELL HP3 and HPX, for more affordable phones. The latter is reserved for Chinese phones like the Note 12 series.

The recent spike in 200MP camera smartphones can also be credited to chipset manufacturers that have integrated hardware support for 200MP cameras in their recent chips. All of the recent flagship Android chipsets like Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 have native support for that. Moreover, it is also available in mid-range chipsets like the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and Dimensity 1080.

That said, the S23 Ultra uses none of the sensors discussed above. Samsung unveiled an entirely new sensor for its ultimate smartphone of 2023, called ISOCELL HP2.

It is a 200MP flagship sensor specifically made for the S23 Ultra with a 1/1.3” sensor with 0.6µm pixels. This puts it between the HP1 and HP3, which have 1/1.22” and 1/1.4” sensor sizes, respectively. The new sensor takes 12.5MP photos by default with 16:1 pixel binning. Likewise, it will enable 8K recording at 30fps in contrast to 24fps on previous generations.

The rest of the camera setup is more or less the same. We are looking at two telephoto lenses with 3X and 10X optical zoom, respectively. While the initial leaks listed the two telephoto cameras as 12MP, they are officially listed as 10MP sensors.

Epic Night Photography

One of the main advantages of using a higher-megapixel camera is that it enhances digital zoom. With a higher megapixel, you can enlarge a certain portion of the image through cropping while also retaining considerable details.

And with the 200MP ISOCELL HP2, Samsung is claiming what it calls “Epic Night” photography. You can now capture the night sky in motion with the new Astro Hyperlapse built into the S23 Ultra.

In addition, you get clearer and smoother videos at night with the help of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and nose-reduction tech. The company has also worked on its night portraits.

On a side note, Samsung is also enabling 8K 30fps video recording on the S23 Ultra. Previously, the S22 Ultra could record 8K videos only at 24 fps.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy

After failing to overcome criticism about Exynos chips’ performance, Samsung has finally gone all Snapdragon with the new S23 series. As hinted by Qualcomm representative months before the February Unpacked event, the Galaxy S23 series would be an all-Snapdragon affair.

Samsung is using an overclocked version of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip on the S23 Ultra. The “Prime” Arm Cortex-X3 core, in particular, is clocked at a higher 3.36GHz against the usual 3.2GHz. Likewise, the Immortalis-based Adreno 740 is also said to have a higher clock speed of 719MHz on the S23 Ultra.

It is a bespoke version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 made specifically for Samsung’s flagship. As a result, it bears the “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy” marketing terms.

This “Snapdragon for Galaxy” partnership is not a one-off thing and is rumored to extend to next year’s S24 Ultra too. According to the rumors, Samsung’s plan is to keep this partnership alive till it develops a more capable in-house chipset for its flagship smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inch AMOLED 2X screen. It is the only model in the series to boast a QHD+ resolution of 3088 x 1440 pixels. Likewise, it has an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 129Hz as well as an improved Vision Booster solution. Moreover, it boasts a peak brightness of 1750 nits.

Samsung S23 Ultra is among the first phones to be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone has Armor Aluminum frames and IP68 dust and water resistance.

That aside, Samsung has not changed the design and build of the device. You get the same Armor Aluminum frames that we saw in the S22 Ultra.

It will pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. The phone ships with the latest One UI 5.1 skin based on Android 13. As expected, Samsung also provides at least 4 years of Android updates. The phone also has a built-in S Pen stylus.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the ThinkPad lineup, Lenovo has announced its brand new series of powerful business laptop (s). The ThinkPad Z16 is a versatile business device that’s powerful yet portable. It comes with all the typical ThinkPad features we know and love but in a larger chassis packing in more performance.

Performance and Security

ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 6850H processor which is an 8 Core 16 Thread chipset with base and boost frequencies of 3.2 GHz and 4.7 GHz respectively. It comes with 16MB of L3 cache and Radeon 680M integrated Graphics. There are configurations missing a dedicated GPU but the one here has the AMD RX 6500M with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

The laptop is protected by ThinkShield- Lenovo’s comprehensive suite of security solutions. This includes hardware solutions like preventing tampering of BIOS through ports and security chips, software offerings like included firewall, and VPN, and additional security features like Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and remote security management.

As for the memory, ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 comes with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 6400 MHz. Since it is soldered, the RAM is non-upgradable. The storage options include 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB. The variant available in Nepal has 16GB RAM and 512 GB SSD.

Design and Display

The ThinkPad Z16 features a 75% recycled aluminum chassis which is a first for any ThinkPad. The 16” screen is surrounded by thin bezels (STB of 92.3%) and features a ‘Communication Bar’ which houses an integrated FHD webcam alongside dual microphones. Despite the larger form factor and a MIL-STD-810H rating, ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 weighs under 2 kgs (1.81 or 1.95 kg).

The keyboard is the classic ThinkPad experience with the usual keys and fingerprint reader. The TrackPoint now has the added utility of opening a quick window when double-tapped. ThinkPad Z16 Gen 1 gets a trackpad overhaul with a larger 120mm glass touchpad with haptic feedback.

The display is an eye candy as well. The large 16-inch screen comes with various resolution configurations. The one making its way to Nepal is WUXGA (1920×1080) non-touch IPS panel. But WUXGA Touch and 4K+(3840×2400) OLED panels are also available elsewhere. Regardless, all the displays boast 100% sRGB coverage, 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 nits of typical max brightness, and TUV Low Blue Light Certification.

Battery and Connectivity

In the tank, ThinkPad Z16 houses a 72 Wh Lithium battery that charges via the 130 W USB-C Slim Adapter provided in the box. It can go from 0 to 80% in just 60 minutes.

The laptop performed excellently in the MobileMark 2018 benchmark lasting 20.5 hours. ThinkPad Z16 can stream local 1080p video at 250 nits brightness for more than 28 hours on a single charge.

Honor Pad X8 hit the market back in September 2022 and almost a year later, we now have its successor as well. The new Honor Pad X9 brings some nice upgrades such as a 120Hz display and a bigger battery. Kicking off with the design, the Honor Pad X9 tries to refresh the bland looks of the X8. The rear side is pretty much the same but it flaunts a new camera module this time. POCO Pods TWS launched with quite an affordable price tag in India

POCO has launched the POCO Pods TWS in India. This one is the very second TWS from the Xiaomi-backed company after the POCO Buds Pro. Without further ado, let’s get headed into the specs, features, and expected price of the POCO Pods in Nepal.

Design

In terms of design, the POCO Pods bring a déjà vu of the recently launched Redmi Buds 4 Active. In fact, it’s a rebranding of the budget TWS from Redmi and hence boasts a long stem design made out of plastic. POCO has added some unique touches, such as a black and yellow accent theme. Amazfit has launched the Amazfit GTR Mini smartwatch in Nepal. The Amazfit T-Rex 2 is not a smartwatch for everyone. It’s a smartwatch designed to accompany you on adventure sports. So, it’s built to last extreme weather conditions. OnePlus Nord Buds 2 with ANC, Dolby Atmos sound launched in Nepal

OnePlus Nord Buds was the first TWS from the company under the “Nord” branding. This was recently followed up with Nord Buds 2, which also introduced features like ANC. Design

Visually, not much has changed between the original Nord Buds and the Buds 2. They both are in-ear style, have a flat stem, and can fit snugly into a box-like charging case. The buds are also pretty light at 4.7 grams each, while the case weighs around 37.5g.

It is available in Thunder Grey and Lighting White color options. And not to forget, OnePlus has also offered an IP55 rating on the earbuds.

Audio

As for the audio, Nord Buds 2 houses a 12.4mm driver with a titanium-coated diaphragm. Matter of fact, this driver size is the same as the last year’s model. Nonetheless, an improvement on the Buds 2 is the support for ANC, a first for a Nord series earbuds.

Regarding connectivity, Nord Buds 2 has Bluetooth 5.3 with AAC and SBC codec support. They also have fast pair support but weirdly it’s only compatible with OnePlus smartphones.

The 2023 edition of Asus TUF Gaming F15 with 13th Gen Intel CPU and RTX 40 series GPU has finally made its way to Nepal. And in this article, we’ll be taking a look at everything there is to know about the Asus TUF Gaming F15 2023, including its official price in Nepal.

Design and Display

Asus hasn’t done much different in terms of design this year. Besides the centered logo and the 4-way system indicators, the color options for the TUF Gaming F15 remain the same too. The large touchpad stays as well. For a 15″ gaming laptop, it has a fairly manageable weight of 2.2 kg and measures around 25mm thick. And as a “TUF” series laptop, this thing is MIL-STD-810H certified for tougher durability too.

Up front, Asus TUF Gaming F15 2023 sports a 15.6″ IPS LCD panel of FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution. This 144Hz display has a 16:9 aspect ratio, covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and also has a matte coating to reduce light glares. Moreover, this screen supports NVIDIA’s Advanced Optimus too, which allows you to switch between the dedicated GPU and the iGPU without requiring a restart.

Performance

As for performance, the Asus TUF Gaming F15 2023 is powered by Intel’s new 13th Gen processors. While it’s configurable with up to a Core i9-13900H CPU in the international market, only the i7-13700H variant has currently found its way to Nepal. It’s a 14-core CPU (6P + 8E) with 20 threads and up to 5GHz of max turbo frequency.

On the graphics front, you can choose between a 140W RTX 4060 with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM or a 140W RTX 4050 with 6GB GDDR6 VRAM. While the one available here features an RTX 4060 GPU.

More so, the latest Asus TUF Gaming F15 ships with 16GB of DDR5 RAM with a speed of 4800 MT/s. Whereas its 1TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD is no slouch either. Also, the dual 8GB RAM sticks can each be replaced by a 16GB one in the future as well.

This gaming laptop is fueled by a 4-cell 90Wh battery that fuels up via a 240W adapter included in the box. Wireless connectivity options on the Asus TUF Gaming F15 2023 include WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Furthermore, it houses a 720p camera in a protrusion above the display.
