Honor X20 SE launched with MediaTek Dimensity 700 and triple rear camera setup

0

Honor, the former sub-brand of Huawei, has launched the Honor X20 SE smartphone in China. So, let’s dig in to know the specs, features, availability, and expected price of Honor X20 SE in Nepal.

Honor X20 SE Overview:

Design and Display

To begin with, the Honor X20 SE flaunts a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display. The panel has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and boasts a 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. The bezels around the screen are minimal, but the punch-hole looks distractingly big.

Honor X20 SE Design and Display

The device is 8.4mm thick and weighs just 179 grams. Over on the back, it has three cameras arranged in a vertical row. Further, the Honor X20 SE is available in four color options – Magic Night Black, Blue Water Emerald, Titanium Silver, and Cherry Pink Gold.

ZTE’s latest innovation is a 5G-ready smart t-shirt to monitor your health

0

Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021 is underway, and companies didn’t miss this opportunity to showcase their upcoming or prototype products. ZTE capitalized on this and unveiled its YouCare project – a 5G Smart T-shirt that is capable of monitoring your vital health signs.

ZTE YouCare 5G Smart T-Shirt Overview:

In recent years, wearables have gradually grown in popularity, especially due to their health monitoring features. Accordingly, there are countless products available in the market from various companies. ZTE, on the other hand, appears to take it a step further with their 5G enabled t-shirt.

Project

ZTE YouCare is a project that focuses on the use of textile devices for health monitoring, without the need for any metal components. The apparel, which is wholly made in Italy, can detect a number of bio-vital parameters and transmit them to the user’s smartphone or smartwatch. The garment is fully washable, uses reusable textile material, and looks no different from a normal t-shirt.

How does it work?

This 5G enabled T-shirt has a patented and certified textile technology that integrates a series of polymeric sensors embedded in the fabrics themselves. According to ZTE, these sensors can detect bio-vital parameters like respiration, electrocardiogram, sweat components, muscle effort, and the body temperature.

Likewise, a miniature control unit records all these data and converts them to digital format. The company claims that these parameters have never been detected by a textile sensor before.

ZTE YouCare Smart T-Shirt Demo

Moreover, the t-shirt can transmit the analyzed data to an individual’s smartphone or smartwatch, thanks to 5G. You can even transmit the data to a remote unit that analyzes the values and notifies if there’s an emergency.

Compared to traditional wearables, the YouCare t-shirt has a wider area of contact with the body. Thus, it can be used to record a wider range of health data. It could make drastic changes to the health sector because of its remote health monitoring feature. Furthermore, this initiative has piqued the interest of the Italian Red Cross Association president, who believes it has the potential to “change the life and quality of home and remote medical assistance.”

ZTE YouCare 5G Smart T-Shirt Testing

ZTE will begin testing YouCare smart t-shirt from next fall at its 5G Research and Innovation Center in L’Aquila, Italy.

Leak: Samsung x AMD GPU leaves the competition in the dust

0

There has been a lot of hype around Samsung’s upcoming flagship processor as it is confirmed to feature an AMD graphic solution. According to a leaker, Samsung has already started testing the GPU, and the initial test results look promising.

AMD GPU in Exynos 2200

The latest report comes from Ice Universe, who we know, is very reliable when it comes to Samsung leaks. According to him, Samsung has wrapped up the initial tests on the first RDNA 2 smartphone GPU from AMD.

The screenshots shared in the tweets show the GPU scoring 8568 and 8134 in two instances of the 3D Mark Wild Life test. It also achieved an average frame rate of 52fps and 50fps, on the two tests respectively.

It is the biggest score ever achieved by a smartphone in that particular benchmark, leaving behind Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888. The scores are even better than that of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which scored 7,442 with its quad-core GPU.

Has Samsung finalized Exynos 2200?

The answer is probably no. Ice Universe has mentioned that the chipset used in the test is based on Cortex A77 architecture. We expect Samsung to go with newer cores (Cortex X2 and Cortex A77) for the performance cores in the Exynos 2200. Therefore, the chip that AMD GPU is being tested on is not Exynos 2200.

Will Samsung x AMD GPU reign top in 2022?

We cannot dive into this conclusion yet. First, we only have access to the initial GPU performance of the upcoming chipset. The result is impressive, partly because we are comparing it with the present-day solution. The true competitors for Exynos 2200 will be Snapdragon 895 and Bionic A15 and not their predecessors.

For reference, Apple reported a rough improvement of 8.3% GPU boost moving from A13 to A14. Similarly, Snapdragon 888 has a 35% better GPU than its predecessor.

AMD RDNA 2 GPU in Samsung Exynos 2200 intial test 3D Mark Wildlife

Moreover, we have not yet talked about the M1 chip in the latest iPads. They are at top of the 3D Mark Wildlife test with double the score of the upcoming AMD GPU.

That being said, it should not take away the excitement from the GPU in the Exynos 2200. Samsung has promised AMD RDNA 2 microarchitecture, which we find on the latest gaming consoles. In addition, the GPU will have features like ray tracing and variable rate shading.

Samsung x AMD GPU Launch Date

According to the same leaker, we will get to know about the AMD RDNA 2 GPU on the upcoming Samsung Exynos chip in July. The event was initially planned for June but was later postponed a month later. Since the Note series is canceled this year, the first product with the AMD GPU should launch next year, most probably the Galaxy S22 series.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 888 Plus: What’s different?

2

On the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2021, Qualcomm has announced a mini-refresh to its flagship Snapdragon SoC in the form of Snapdragon 888 Plus. The chipset will power the device in the second half of the year.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus Overview:

The new chipset is essentially a rehash of the current Snapdragon 888, with nearly identical architectures and components. It is just that Qualcomm is able to overclock the Prime core once the manufacturing node matures. If you recall, Snapdragon 865 Plus was announced with a minor performance boost against standard 865. The new Snapdragon 888 Plus will go the same path, which means you won’t notice any significant differences when using it.

What’s changed?

At its heart, the Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset is still an octa-core processor with 1+3+4 core structures. That equates to one Cortex X1, three Cortex A78, and four Cortex A55 cores. What has changed is the X1 core’s clock speed, which has been increased from 2.84GHz to 2.995GHz. It is aimed at delivering a 5.2% performance upgrade over the standard Snapdragon 888.

Furthermore, the AI engine’s performance has improved, leading to an increase in throughput from 26 TOPS to 32 TOPS. While utilizing the same Hexagon 780 module, Snapdragon 888 Plus offers 20% higher performance in AI workloads.

This time, Qualcomm hasn’t really upgraded the GPU, as we’ve seen in prior years’ releases of plus variants. It’s probably because the Snapdragon 888 is already using Adreno 660 at extremely high frequencies which is more than enough for most demanding titles. Thus, further increasing frequencies would bring very nominal change.

Here’s the first look at Google-based Samsung Galaxy One UI Watch

0

Samsung has just unveiled the smartwatch interface that will replace Tizen OS in its Galaxy Watch lineup. The South Korean firm is calling it One UI Watch. As you may have guessed, it resembles Samsung’s One UI smartphone UI visually. We will be discussing everything Samsung unveiled about the new OS at the WMC 2021.

Samsung One UI Watch

The new One UI Watch was somewhat expected after Google confirmed that the two companies were working on a unified smartwatch platform. The merger between Samsung’s Tizen OS and Google’s Wear OS is yet to receive an official name, but people are already referring to it simply as Wear.

The One UI Watch is the first UI to be based on the “Wear.” With it, Samsung promises improved performance, an enriched smartphone-watch experience, and a wider range of apps.

Look and Feel

To start off, the One UI Watch inherits visual cues from its smartphone counterpart. At the event, Samsung let us a sneak peek at the UI’s settings layout, which is based on One UI (smartphone).

One UI Watch Settings Layout

Samsung will also roll out its Watch face design tool to Android developers later this year. It will add more customization options.

Google Play Integration

Users will also be able to download apps directly from the Play Store. Google apps such as Maps, YouTube Music, and Message will be readily available. In addition, third-party app developers for One UI Watch can now integrate features directly from Google Play. Popular apps like Smart Caddie, Adidas Running, Calm, and others will also be available for One UI Watch users.

Kathmandu Metropolitan proposes free parking facility for electric vehicles in the valley

The Kathmandu Metropolitan has proposed with free parking facility for electric vehicles throughout the city. If accepted, the policy will be taken into effect from the coming fiscal year, that is 2078/79. It will aid in the promotion of electric vehicles in the valley.

Free parking for electric vehicles in Kathmandu:

The announcement of the Nepal Government’s budget for the forthcoming fiscal year has greatly benefited the EV industry. The substantial shift in the taxing structure has given enough optimism to the people. In addition, the recent programs put forward by the local government raise our hopes for the expansion of EVs in Nepal.

Plans

The Mayor of Kathmandu, Vidhya Sundar Shakya, presented the policy and program for the fiscal year 2078/79 which includes a 100 percent discount for electric vehicle parking in the valley. Similarly, the metropolis has also put forward a program to build charging stations in collaboration with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The metropolitan has been charging parking fees at designated places of New Road, Dharmapath, Kantipath, Durbar Marg, and public roads of Tripureshwor, Ratna Park, Bhotahiti, Keshar Mahal, and Lainchaur. Further, the fee for two-wheelers and four-wheelers parking is Rs. 25 and Rs. 80 per hour, respectively. However, after the implementation of the free parking policy, no charges will be levied on electric vehicles.

Ease of Business Tax

Moreover, Dr. Shivraj Adhikari, the Head of the Revenue Department, stated that electric vehicle-related businesses will be exempted from paying business taxes for the upcoming fiscal year.

According to him, there are around ten similar firms in the municipality. They have been paying business taxes ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 each year. Furthermore, many small business owners are only now beginning to register their companies. And, the new tax policy will offer encouragement for them to engage in such initiatives.

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 unveiled with 160W charging, color-changing panel & more

0

Over the past few weeks, we have been hearing of Infinix’s next big project in bits and pieces. First, the 160W charger leaked, and then came the renders of a premium-looking phone. Yesterday, Infinix took the stage at the World Mobile Congress to unveil the Concept Phone 2021.

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 Overview:

160W Wired Charging

Let’s start with the charging first. The 160W charging in the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is the fastest we have ever seen in a smartphone. It can charge the phone from 0 to 100% in just 10 minutes.

Currently, commercial phones max out at 120W (iQOO 7 Chinese Variant and Mi 10 Ultra). While Xiaomi and Oppo have demoed even faster solutions, they are yet to be implemented in an actual phone.

Working Mechanism

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 uses an 8C battery, which has 18% less resistance than a 6C battery. The higher “C” number also enables it to charge and discharge at a higher rate.

The charger, on the other hand, uses Gallium Nitrate (GaN) and Silicon Carbide (SiC). These material choices help manufacture compact adapters with high efficiency.

The Super Charge Pump, which converts voltage from the charging port to the device, boasts an efficiency of 98.6%.

Safety Mechanism

The lower-resistance battery and the higher-efficiency pump should reduce heat to an extent. Still, Infinix has included 20 temperature sensors to keep it in check. If it goes over 40˚ Celsius, the phone security mechanism kicks in. And there are 60 of them in place.

In addition, the phone supports 50W wireless charging.

Color-Changing Design

People have also talked a lot about the phone’s design, and rightly so. It’s nothing we have seen prior in an Infinix phone. Infinix Concept Phone 2021 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with 88˚curvature at the side. This curvature leaves no room for the side buttons.

At the back, the phone has a massive “NOW” branding that almost covers the entire rear panel. If you think this is ludicrous, wait till you see it shift color.

It does so with the application of electrochromic material, which changes its appearance based on the exposure to current. Brands like Vivo and Oppo have demoed similar technology in the past. Even OnePlus used it to hide cameras on Concept One.

The cherry on the top is the “O,” which changes color to notify you of notifications. In addition, it glows when the charger is plugged in.

Rest of the Features

The rectangular camera module on the back setup encloses a triple camera setup. The 64MP primary sensor is huge and protrudes further from the module. You can notice the rectangular periscope sensor towards the bottom left. It supports digital magnification of up to 60X. The third sensor is an 8MP ultrawide sensor. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie shooter.

Powering the phone is Helio G95, which looks out of place given the rest of the specs. It runs Android 11 out-of-the-box.

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 has a single speaker grille at the bottom. It is placed together with a Type-C port, SIM card slot, and a microphone.

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 Specifications:

  • Display: 6.67-inches FHD+ AMOLED panel, 88˚ curvature
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G95 (12nm)
  • GPU: Arm Mali-G76 MC4
  • Software & UI: XOS on top of Android 11
  • Rear Camera: Triple (64MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 8MP periscope lens)

Infinix Concept Phone 2021 Availability

As indicated in its moniker, Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is a concept phone. Thus, it’s unlikely that it will ever hit the market.

Brands often do this to offer a preview of what they are capable of. It is also a means to extend goodwill among customers and news media. Mi Mix Alpha, Oppo X 2021, and OnePlus Concept One are some popular examples of concept phones.
