Xiaomi 13 Pro Overview:

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Although it is not the first phone to do so, Xiaomi 13 Pro packs the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm. The chip is built on top of TSMC’s new 4nm process and brings a new 1+4+3 core arrangement, led by Cortex-X3-based Kryo Prime cores.

The performance cluster features 2x Cortex-A715 and 2 Cortex-A170 cores—all clocked at 2.8GHz. Finally, there are 3 Cortex-A510 cores handling the least demanding tasks. As for graphics, you get the new Adreno 740 GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing. It is based on Arm’s Immortalis GPU.

Genshin Impact Performance

All in all, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has 35% faster CPU and 25% GPU performance, while also being 40% and 45% more power efficient, respectively. It is paired with LPDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Xiaomi Surge chips

Backing the chip will be a couple of in-house Surge co-processors. First is the Surge P1 chip, which helps the phone achieve 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The chip was announced last year and was first used in the 12 Pro.

The other is the Surge G2, which is a smart battery management chip. Together, the two chips form Xiaomi Surge Battery Management System that we first saw on the 12S Ultra. The dual-chip strategy help achieve long battery life and safe and efficient charging on the new Xiaomi 13 Pro. That aside, the battery on the latest flagship also gets a size bump from 4,600mAh to 4,820mAh.

Xiaomi 13 Pro Battery

Camera

This triple 50MP camera setup on the Xiaomi 13 Pro will have Leica’s official branding and new “Master” lenses, which were missing on the vanilla 12 Pro.

Leading the line is the Sony IMX989 camera with optical image stabilization and octa-PD phase focus. It is the same 1-inch sensor that 12S Ultra debuted with. Accompanying it is a 115° ultrawide angle lens that doubles as a macro shooter. Finally, there is a telephoto lens with a 75mm equivalent focal length.

Xiaomi 13 Pro Camera Setup

Leica has even lent its professional color grading. Users of the Xiaomi 13 Pro can choose between Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant modes that offer realistic and overall brighter photos, respectively.

Design and Display

Another major addition to the Xiaomi 13 Pro is the IP68 dust and water resistance. While flagships from Samsung have had this for years, it was always missing in Xiaomi’s high-end offerings. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. The back of the phone is made of ceramic and comes in two flavors: Ceramic Black and Ceramic White.

Design and Display

Xiaomi 13 Pro sports a 6.73-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED screen which is the same as its predecessor offered. It has a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The touch sampling rate is listed at 240Hz. It covers the entirety of the DCI-P3 color space and boasts a peak brightness of 1900 nits. For protection, Xiaomi has opted for the last-gen Gorilla Glass Victus.

Microsoft Bing, Edge get even more capable with DALL-E image creator

    1

Microsoft’s collaboration with OpenAI has been something of a turning point for both companies; mostly Microsoft. Powered by ChatGPT, the company’s Bing search and Edge browser have become a lot more capable in the past couple of months. And now, Microsoft has integrated OpenAI’s DALL-E AI image generator into Bing and Edge to make them even more powerful.

Bing and Microsoft Edge with DALL-E

The new “Bing Image Creator” is currently in preview for Bing and Edge users. According to Microsoft, it will first be available in Bing’s “Creative Mode” and will eventually be fully integrated into Bing’s chat experience. You can access it on Edge by clicking on the Bing Image Creator icon in the sidebar.

As a result, users will now be able to generate images based on their text queries right from Microsoft-made tools. Interestingly, the company says it has used an advanced version of the DALL-E model for this.

    Bing chat response including images
    Image: Microsoft

Microsoft has also implemented additional safeguards in addition to the ones from OpenAI. It will prevent you from creating potentially dangerous images, and it also includes watermarks in images generated by AI to keep things transparent.

AI-powered visual stories and knowledge cards

Likewise, Microsoft has brought “Stories” and “Knowledge Cards 2.0” to all Bing users. In case you’re unfamiliar, Knowledge Cards 2.0 is an AI-powered infographic-inspired experience that provides fun facts and key information at a glance, whereas stories display images and short videos that are linked to content.

In related news, Microsoft announced last week that it would integrate its generative AI technology into some of its most popular business apps, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel too.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 (2022) Price in Nepal (2025 Update)

Lenovo has just launched the third-gen ThinkPad X13 laptop in Nepal. This premium business laptop is designed for professionals constantly on the road. So, let’s get into the specs, features, latest price, and availability of Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 (2022) in Nepal.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 3: Overview

    Performance and Memory

Like all other ThinkPad refreshes last year, the X13 Gen 3 is available with 12th Gen Intel Core and AMD Ryzen Pro 6000 series CPUs. The Intel versions boast greater generational performance gains thanks to the “Alder Lake” hybrid architecture. In addition to the usual U-series SKUs, Lenovo offers the laptop with the new P-series processors with more cores and higher TDPs. As a result, there are six CPUs to choose from.

In contrast, there are just two AMD processors. The base variant comes with the hexacore Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U, while you can get the Ryzen 7 Pro 6850U if you need the performance from those extra cores. While these two don’t have the same performance lift as their Intel counterparts, the new Radeon iGPUs fare better than Intel’s Iris Xe.

    Memory and Upgradeability

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 ships with the newer LPDDR5 RAM but is clocked differently on different models. It’s clocked at 6400MHz on the AMD models— higher than the 4800MHz on the Intel versions. The RAM is soldered to the motherboard, and you can choose between 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB of dual-channel RAM. Likewise, you can get up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 3 Lid

    Productivity and Security Options

The ThinkPad Gen 3 is also part of Lenovo’s theme of hybrid workforce. As a result, it improves on communication and connectivity side of things. One key addition to the 2022 model is Dolby Voice which uses dynamic leveling and spatial audio to enhance voices during calls. You can equip the laptop with a new Full HD webcam. Some even have IR sensors for Windows Hello authentication.

    Design and Display

Lenovo has added a 54.7 Whr battery with 40% better endurance than the standard 41 Whr option. Because of the different battery sizes, the weight of the laptop ranges from 1.20 to 1.28 kg. Fortunately, there is no such disparity in thickness, although there are three design options. The first features an all-aluminum finish, whereas the other two replace the metal lid of PPS and carbon fiber, respectively.

As for the display, Lenovo is continuing the same 16:10 IPS display as last year. You can go with WUXGA or a sharper WQXGA panel. The latter offers more color accuracy, while the former also brings a touch option.

Adobe’s AI image generator tool “Firefly” threatens DALL-E, Midjourney

    1

Generative AI tools are all the rage these days. From AI chatbots to image generators, these tools have dramatically changed the way we work. And now, Adobe has thrown its hat in the ring with its own image synthesizer called “Firefly”. As of 2023, it has released the second version of its Image Model, as well as integrated new Vector and Design models.

    Adobe Firefly Overview:

Firefly is the first generative AI product from Adobe, and it’s currently in the beta stage. In case you didn’t know, generative AI refers to a type of artificial intelligence (AI) tool that is capable of translating ordinary words (or other forms of inputs) into images, text, video, documents, art, and more.

    Adobe Firefly Beta Illustrations
    AI illustrations from Firefly

Contrary to other AI image generators like DALL-E and Midjourney, Firefly is a bit more versatile in what it’s capable of. It can generate still images, edit video effects, and even work with 3D compositions. Firefly also has “creative building blocks” like brushes, vectors, textures, and more to help with your creative workflow. Other than this, it lets you create stylized texts too; like Microsoft’s WordArt on steroids.

An interesting take on training the AI model

More importantly, the company says Firefly has been trained on models using data from Adobe Stock Library, those that are licensed content for training, or out-of-copyright materials. Alexandru Costin, VP of generative AI and Sensei at Adobe said, “We can generate high quality content and not random brands’ and others’ IP because our model has never seen that brand content or trademark.”

Hence, the company is confident that Firefly’s results will not infringe any copyrights or steal human artists’ work. Adobe is also planning to pay artists who are willing to contribute to training the AI.

On top of that, Adobe is also working on a way for artists to choose the “Do Not Train” option to prevent their content from being used for the training model. The company is also working to enable users to integrate Firefly’s API into various platforms to enable custom workflows and automation.

    Adobe Firefly Availability

As aforementioned, Firefly is still in the beta stage right now. You can request access to the platform from here—even if you don’t have a Creative Cloud subscription. Adobe Firefly will first be available on apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and Experience Manager.

The new Nokia C12 Pro is same as the Nokia C12 with a bigger battery

    5

Not long after announcing the Nokia C12, HMD Global has launched the Nokia C12 Pro in the Indian market. Featuring the same barebone specs but with a bigger battery, Nokia C12 Pro is pretty identical to its vanilla sibling. In this article, we’ll be going through the specs, features, availability, and expected price in Nepal of the Nokia C12 Pro.

    Nokia C12 Pro Overview:

    Design and Display

The C12 Pro’s design is the same as the C12. You get a waterdrop notch display for the front camera and a thick bezel on the bottom. Its build quality consists of plastic frames, while the phone’s rear panel has a metallic finish and a 3D pattern for a better grip. Nokia C12 Pro is available in Charcoal, Dark Cyan, and Light Mint finishes.

Nokia C12 Pro Design and Display

Up front, you’re looking at a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with a static 60Hz refresh rate. And it has just HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution as well. Nokia has not mentioned the protection type but the screen is rated to be scratch resistant. Likewise, the C12 Pro is also IP52 certified for protection against dust and water drips.

    Performance

Although the official site doesn’t mention the chipset, it’s likely that the C12 Pro houses the same Unisoc SC9863A1 SoC (28nm). This is an entry-level processor with an octa-core CPU, consisting of four Cortex-A55 (@1.6 GHz) and four Cortex-A55 (@1.2 GHz) cores. In terms of memory configuration, there are two variants to choose from 2/64GB and 3/64GB. By the way, it also supports virtual RAM expansion by 2GB.

To complement such a low-powered processor, the Nokia C12 Pro boots on Android 12 Go Edition. Instead of the full-fledged Android 12. With a lighter UI, you also get the “Go Edition” of popular Google apps like Maps, Docs, Gmail, and Files—which aren’t as resource-hungry. Likewise, the company has promised 2 years of security updates for this phone.

    Camera

Moving on, this budget phone sports a single 8MP camera at the back; supported by an LED flash. Interestingly, this camera can take portrait and night mode shots too. Then there’s a 5MP camera up front for selfies and video calls.

    Nokia C12 Pro Camera

Google’s ChatGPT rival “Bard” finally launches in US and UK

    4

After demoing it about a month back, Google has finally launched its conversational AI called “Bard”. It runs on Google’s LaMDA language model and is currently under an experimental phase, available to select users in the US and the UK. Bard is Google’s direct answer to the widely popular conversational AI “ChatGPT” from OpenAI.

    Google Bard AI Chatbot Overview:

As mentioned before, this chatbot is powered by Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) and uses a wide range of data available online to provide users with relevant and high-quality responses. According to Google, this is a supplement to “Search” rather than a replacement for traditional search engines.

    Google Bard Welcome Screen

Its homepage is similar to that of ChatGPT and GPT-4-powered Bing. But contrary to the competition, Google includes a disclaimer at the bottom that reads, “Bard may display inaccurate or offensive information that does not represent Google’s views.” Unlike other chatbots, Bard displays three responses to a single query, all of which are nearly identical with minor differences.

    Also supports voice input

Each response includes a prominent “Google it” button that takes users to a related Google search. You can also ask Bard questions using your voice, just like you do with Google Assistant; something not available in ChatGPT.

    Google Bard Disclaimer

So far, several users from the United States and the United Kingdom have tested Bard. And most of them say Bard responds faster than its competitors, possibly because there are fewer users on the platform. But they’ve also highlighted that Google’s solution lacks the same level of creativity and accuracy (mostly while doing maths and grammar).

    Also read:

    Google Bard vs OpenAI ChatGPT:

Everyone is waiting to see who will win this AI battle between ChatGPT and Bard. And as of now, ChatGPT seems to produce accurate results in the majority of cases because it is better trained than Bard.

Bard is indeed immature in comparison to ChatGPT as of now, but Google is constantly taking user feedback and improving Bard.

Oppo Find X6 series arrives with flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek

    1

After multiple leaks and rumors, Oppo has finally launched the Find X6 series. The lineup includes two models, a vanilla and a Pro model, which arrive with flagship chipsets from MediaTek and Qualcomm, respectively. Let’s get into the specs, features, expected price in Nepal and availability of Oppo Find X6 and X6 Pro.

    Oppo Find X6 Series Overview:

    New design

Oppo has been continually exploring new elements for its phone’s design. Last year’s Find X5 Pro featured a slight variation of the “Gradient Arc” design, which has been a staple of Oppo’s flagships since 2021. But it looks like the company has changed things with the Find X6 series.

    Oppo Find X6 Pro

As the renders suggested, the back of the Oppo flagships now arrives with a big circular module that houses a triple camera setup. The Find X6 Pro is 9.1mm thick while it weighs 218 grams for the glass variant. Its “Desert Silver Moon” color variant features a premium leather back and is even thicker at 9.5mm. Other color options—Cloud Black and Flying Spring Green—both have an all-glass back.

On the other hand, the vanilla X6 is thinner and lighter at 8.96mm and 207 grams, respectively. It also has identical design language as the “Pro” model, except that Oppo isn’t offering Find X6 in a leather finish. Also, the Find X6 Pro bags an IP68 dust/water rating while the vanilla model gets a relatively weaker IP64 dust/splash resistance.

    Display

Getting to the display, Oppo Find X6 Pro has a 6.8-inch E6 AMOLED display with a 2K resolution (3168 x 1440 pixels). The screen supports a 120Hz refresh rate with LTPO 3 technology and 10-bit colors. Meanwhile, the vanilla X6 comes with a 6.74-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2772 × 1240 pixels) and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Oppo Find X6 Pro - Display

Interestingly, Find X6 Pro’s display has a whopping 2500 nits of peak brightness—which is the highest ever on the smartphone. The previous titleholder, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, maxed out at 2000 nits. Likewise, the vanilla Find X6 settles for 1450 nits of peak brightness instead. The Pro model can also play Dolby Vision and HDR10+ videos, while the Oppo Find X6 only supports the latter.

    Camera

After Xiaomi and Vivo, Oppo has finally used a 1-inch camera on the X6 Pro, which is a 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor. If you recall, it’s the same sensor you’d find on the new Xiaomi 13 Pro and Vivo’s X90 Pro series. This has been complemented with a 23mm equivalent lens with an f/1.8 aperture.

Oppo Find X6 Pro’s remaining camera setup is equally impressive. The company has used a couple of 50MP 1/1.56-inch IMX890 sensors; one for ultrawide shots which uses a 15mm f/2.2 lens and has a 110° field of view. Whereas its periscope telephoto shooter brings a 65mm f/2.6 lens and is capable of 3x optical or up to 120x digital zoom. Both the primary and periscope cameras have been optically stabilized.

    Oppo Find X6 Pro Camera

On the other hand, the regular Oppo Find X6 also sports a triple 50MP setup with OIS on the primary and periscope units as the Pro sibling. But, it skips that 1-inch IMX989 sensor for the IMX890 instead, while the ultrawide unit also uses Samsung’s 1/2.76-inch JN1 sensor instead. Thankfully, it uses the same periscope camera as the Find X6 Pro. Both phones bring a 32MP IMX709 selfie shooter up front.

    Hasselblad and MariSilicon X

In addition to the new camera sensor, the Oppo Find X6 series also benefits from Hasselblad’s color calibration and the MariSilicon X NPU. The Find X6 series is the second product out of Oppo and Hasselblad’s 3-year partnership.

    Performance

Getting to performance, Oppo Find X6 is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200, while the Pro variant goes for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead. Although both of them are flagship-level chips, the 8 Gen 2 has slightly better performance overall. Both phones use a vapor chamber cooling mechanism to keep the thermals in check.

As for the software, the Find X6 duo boot on ColorOS 13.1 built on top of Android 13. Likewise, users can choose between 12GB and 16GB RAM LPDDR5x variants with 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage options.

    Rest of the specs

Fueling the Oppo Find X6 Pro is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W Qi wireless charging. And the X6 packs a smaller 4800mAh battery with 80W wired but no wireless charging support. Other key properties of these phones include an X-axis linear motor, an optical in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics, and WiFi 7 connectivity.

Oppo Pad 2 is here with Dimensity 9000, Dolby Vision•Atmos support

    2

Oppo first entered the tablet market with the Oppo Pad last year, followed by the Pad Air. Following their success, the company has launched Oppo Pad 2 in China today. Let’s take a look at what the Oppo Pad 2 has to offer, including its features, specifications, and expected price in Nepal.

    Oppo Pad 2 Overview:

Based on the design and specifications, the Oppo Pad 2 appears to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad, which will be available in the global market in April.

    Design and Display

Design-wise, the Oppo Pad 2 is made of metal and has rounded corners. It weighs approximately 552 gm and is impressively thin at just 6.54 mm. Furthermore, this tablet has a polished back design that does not pick up fingerprints easily. You can buy this tablet in two colors: Nebula Gray and Light Feather Gold. There are also POGO pins on the left frame to connect Oppo’s “Smart Touch Keyboard” accessory.

Oppo Pad 2 Design and Display

In terms of display, we get an 11.61-inch LTPS LCD panel with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, it sports a 2K resolution (2800 x 2000 pixels) along with a 7:5 aspect ratio. Oppo says the Pad 2’s screen achieves a peak brightness of 500 nits.

Oppo also claims that this display has impressive color accuracy with ΔE<2. This tablet supports both Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Vision HDR for enhanced content consumption too. You can also use Oppo Pencil (with 2ms latency) here to boost your productivity. But neither the keyboard nor the stylus ship with the tablet itself.

    Performance

Under the hood, Oppo Pad 2 is powered by a flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G (4nm) chipset. And when it comes to memory, this tablet is available with 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and either 256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage options. In terms of OS, we get Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 out of the box.

    Rest of the specs

At the back, there is a single 13MP f/2.2 camera inside a rather distinct circular module. A front-facing 8MP camera is available for video conferencing and selfies. Oppo Pad 2 is fueled by a 9510mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC charging. It doesn’t have a fingerprint reader onboard, so the biometrics option on this tablet is just face unlock. There’s no cellular connectivity either, while it does support tri-band WiFi 6.
