Google Pixel Tablet goes official with Tensor G2 and charging speaker dock

Google first teased the “Pixel Tablet” last year in the “Made by Google ’22” event. The company has now finally launched this tablet at I/O 2023 alongside Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold. So in this article, we will be discussing the specs, features, and expected price of the Google Pixel Tablet in Nepal.

Google Pixel Tablet Overview:

Charging speaker dock

As confirmed earlier, the Pixel Tablet is paired with a new charging speaker dock that offers additional features and accessibility. When not in use, you can dock the tablet which will turn it into a smart hub, while also feeding power to the device. You can use it to turn off lights, set thermostats, and control other smart home accessories.

Furthermore, you can also use the Pixel Tablet as a hands-free device or a photo frame in dock mode. The built-in speakers also improve the overall sound output of the tablet.

Performance: Tensor G2 chip

In terms of performance, this tablet is powered by an in-house Tensor G2 chip. By the way, this is the same processor that you can find on Google’s flagship phones: the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. And also the newly launched Pixel 7a.

As per the company, Tensor G2’s improved image processing and machine learning capabilities assists the tablet in video calling and photo editing, as well as in hands-free operation. This is complemented by the Titan M2 security coprocessor, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Likewise, the tablet boots on Android 13 out of the box with 5 years of “Pixel” updates, which points to 3 years of OS and 5 years of security updates.

Design and Display

Similarly, Pixel Tablet sports a 10.95-inch LCD screen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution, 276 PPI pixel density, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and 500 nits of maximum brightness. It is also USI 2.0 Pen compatible with stylus input. Furthermore, it incorporates Google’s Material You Design for a customized look-and-feel.

As for the design, Pixel Tablet shares a similar visual aesthetics to most other tablets. It has uniform bezels on all four sides, which are complemented by rounded edges and a horizontally aligned selfie camera. The tablet is available in Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose color options.

Battery and Charging

Pixel Tablet ships with a 27Wh internal battery that is rated to last up to 12 hours with video streaming. It charges via the speaker dock, which is bundled in the box or you can purchase a separate USB-C charger too.

Rest of the features

Google says the Pixel Tablet uses premium materials and a nano-ceramic finish at the back. The corners and smooth and round, and you get an 8MP camera at the back and another 8MP camera up front.

As for the audio setup, this tablet houses quad speakers and 3 microphones. It equips a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port and a 4-pin accessory connector on the back. For wireless connectivity, it supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Google Pixel Tablet Pro Rumors:

Besides, reliable tipster Kuba Wojciechowski also spotted a reference to the “Pixel Tablet Pro” a while ago in one of Google’s apps. The tablet has been referred to as “TangorPro” in the Google Camera Go app. For those unaware, “Tangor” is a codename for the vanilla Pixel Tablet.

For the moment, it is unclear how the “Pro” tablet will differ from the vanilla model. We can only speculate that it will ship with cellular connectivity, a higher refresh rate display, and some other features that the regular Pixel Tablet skips.

Samsung Galaxy A24 launched in Nepal; price starts from Rs. 28,999

Samsung Nepal introduced the Galaxy A34 and A54 to its Galaxy A-series not too long ago. The lineup has now gained a new member, the Galaxy A24, which has made its official debut here in Nepal. So let’s walk through the specs, features, and availability of the Samsung Galaxy A24, along with its official price in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy A24 Overview:

Design and Display

Samsung adopted a universal design approach for almost all its smartphones in 2023. And the Galaxy A24 is no exception. Here, the phone comes with a more contemporary floating rear camera design like the Galaxy A34 and A54. But Samsung is still keeping the waterdrop notch on the front, and the bezels don’t look that slim either.

Nonetheless, you’re greeted with a vibrant 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD resolution. There’s also a 90Hz refresh rate support. But Samsung has skimped on offering an official IP rating on the smartphone. The Galaxy A24 is available in four color options—Black, Silver, Burgundy, and Lime Green.

Performance

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio G99 chipset that replaces the Snapdragon 680 on the Galaxy A23. The Helio G99, also seen on Poco M5 (NPR 19,999) and Realme 10 (NPR 29,999), is a 6nm-based SoC featuring an octa-core CPU architecture with two Cortex A76 and six Cortex-A55 clusters. The phone boots on One UI 5.1, built on Android 13. It will receive 4 years of OS and 5 years of security updates.

Memory-wise, the device comes with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Thankfully, Samsung has offered support for a microSD card, thus you can expand the storage up to 1TB. Likewise, the phone conceals a 5000mAh battery. The charging speed is 25W, but like with all the A-series phones from 2023, you need to buy it separately.

MediaTek unveils Dimensity 9200+ with incredible CPU and GPU boost

MediaTek has just announced Dimensity 9200+ chip, which brings a few upgrades over the flagship Dimensity 9200 that launched last year. As expected, its biggest highlight is the slightly overclocked CPU and GPU. Let’s learn more about MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ including its specifications, availability, and more.

MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ Overview:

CPU

Manufactured under the second-gen TSMC 4nm process (N4P), it has the same core cluster as the regular Dimensity 9200. However, its one Cortex-X3 core is now clocked at 3.35 GHz, while the three Cortex-A715 and four Cortex-A510 cores have a peak frequency of 3 GHz and 2 GHz, respectively.

To compare, that’s a 10% increase in max clock speed for the high-performance Cortex-X3 CPU. Whereas the older Dimensity 9200’s Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A510 cores are clocked at 2.85 GHz and 1.8 GHz, respectively. Overall, MediaTek says you can expect a 10% boost in CPU performance here.

GPU and APU

On the graphics front, its Arm Immortalis-G715 has been overclocked by 17%. And as a result, MediaTek quotes a 10% GPU performance boost here. Arm Immoratalis-G715 is an 11-core GPU, which made headlines last year with its hardware-based ray tracing support. There’s no upgrade in terms of the AI Processing Unit (APU) though, as it uses the same 6th gen APU 690.

Rest of the specs

Besides this, Dimensity 9200+ is pretty much the same as its predecessor. It has the M80-based 5G modem that’s compatible with sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G. In terms of memory, it supports LPDDR5X RAM at up to 8533 Mbps, whereas smartphones with this chip can be configured with 144Hz WQHD or 60Hz 5K displays.

Its 18-bit HDR ISP (called Imagiq 890) can record 4K HDR videos from three cameras at once, while Dimensity 9200+ can handle up to 320MP single camera. As for wireless connectivity, it supports WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and MediaTek’s “5G UltraSave” feature.

Tecno Camon 20 Premier lands with a unique “lychee” inspired design

Tecno might not be a popular choice in the crowded global smartphone market but the brand has been a salient player in African regions. With Phantom X2 Pro, Tecno was also the first company to launch a phone with a retractable portrait camera lens too. And now, its “Lychee”-styled Tecno Camon 20 Premier is here. In this article, we’ll delve into the specs, features, and expected price in Nepal of the Tecno Camon 20 Premier.

Tecno Camon 20 Premier Overview:

Design and Display

This phone’s main highlight is definitely its lychee pattern leather design. Tecno says it has put tremendous effort into building each phone, which takes 56 hours of polishing and 576 total hours. Even the camera module gets a premium nanocrystalline ceramic build. Likewise, Tecno Camon 20 Premier has a boxy form factor with slightly curved edges. And it is available in two color options: Serenity Blue and Dark Welkin.

Accompanying it is a 108MP ultrawide sensor with a 115° FoV, enabling high-res wide-angle images. Last but not least is a not so useful, 2MP bokeh unit fitting in the setup. Upfront, you get a 32MP snapper with a micro-slit dual flash for selfies and video calls.

Under the hood, Tecno Camon 20 Premier houses a newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 8050 processor. This 5G chip is fabricated under TSMC’s 6nm process. And it features one high-performance Cortex-A78 (@3 GHz), three mid-performance Cortex-A78 (@2.6 GHz), and four efficiency Cortex-A55 (@2.0 GHz) cores.

The graphics side is handled by a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. As for the memory config, this chip is paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. And the phone boots on Tecno’s HiOS 13 built on top of Android 13.

POCO F5 Pro goes official with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 120Hz WQHD AMOLED

After refreshing its X-series of smartphones back in March with X5 and X5 Pro, POCO has now unveiled the flagship F-series. The latest iteration is home to two new smartphones: POCO F5 and F5 Pro. The latter is the most advanced phone from the company so far. So, let’s get into the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the POCO F5 Pro in Nepal.

POCO F5 Pro Overview:

Design and Display

The Poco F5 is heavily based on the China-only Redmi K60. Even the design is almost the same except for the POCO branding on the rear. Even the button placement is identical here. As the smartphone is a rebranded Redmi K60, it has a glass sandwich body tossed with an aluminum frame between.

Upfront, the F5 Pro features a 12-bit 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The WQHD screen boasts 1400 nits of peak brightness and DCI P3 color gamut alongside HDR10+, Dolby Vision & 1920Hz PWM high-frequency dimming. It will also retain the under-display fingerprint scanner from the vanilla Redmi K60.

Performance

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This flagship 5G silicon from last year still packs a punch for performance. But POCO F5 Pro’s 8+ Gen 1 is slightly underclocked as it features one prime Cortex-X2 core at 3.0 GHz (< 3.2 GHz), three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.5 GHz (<2.75 GHz), and four Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz (< 2.0 GHz). The graphics are being handled by Adreno 730 GPU.

As for the memory configurations, the phone is available in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. You get 256GB storage on both along with an additional 512GB option on the latter. And the phone boots on MIUI 14 skin based on Android 13 out of the box.

Camera

Coming to the optics, the POCO F5 Pro houses a triple camera setup. The primary camera uses a 64MP Omnivision OV64B sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. It is paired with an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. While for selfies and video calls, the phone packs a 16MP snapper on the front.

Fueling the smartphone is a 5500mAh battery with 30W wireless charging compatibility, the first time on a POCO smartphone. The Li-Po cell also carries support for 67W wired fast charging.

POCO F5 is finally here. Alongside its “Pro” sibling, the phone has officially made its debut in India. And it brings a bunch of highlighting features like the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip, a 12-bit AMOLED display, and more. So let’s discuss all about the new POCO F5, alongside its features, specs, expected price in Nepal, availability, and more.

POCO F5 Overview:

Before moving forward, you should know that the POCO F5 is simply a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which is a China-exclusive phone.

Performance

As I mentioned above, this phone brings Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 (4nm) chip onboard. And compared to Snapdragon 870 on last year’s POCO F4, this is a significant performance boost. For starters, despite being part of the Snapdragon 7 series, the 7+ Gen 2’s core architecture is comparable to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. But with slightly underclocked Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710 cores.

The chip boasts a similar “1+3+4” CPU cluster, consisting of one Cortex-X2 (@2.91 GHz), three Cortex-A710 (@2.49 GHz), and four Cortex-A510 (1.8 GHz) cores. Whereas handling the graphics side of things is Adreno 725 GPU, compared to Adreno 730 on the 8+ Gen 1.

Furthermore, POCO F5 ships with 8/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. And in terms of software, it boots on Android 13 with MIUI 14 for POCO out of the box. POCO has committed to 2 years of OS and 3 years of security updates for this phone. To keep things nice and cool, POCO has used a 3725m² vapor chamber cooling system alongside 14 graphite layers.

Display

Besides the chipset upgrade, there are some substantial changes in the display department as well. POCO F5 sports a 6.67″ 12-bit AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Furthermore, this FHD+ screen also flaunts impressively thin bezels on all four sides.

Protected by Gorilla Glass 5, POCO says this display has 1,000 nits of max brightness and 1,920Hz PWM dimming too. And to enhance your media consumption experience, it supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. There’s also something called “Adaptive HDR” that adjusts HDR videos based on ambient lighting conditions.

Cameras

In terms of cameras, POCO F5 gets a triple sensor setup at the back. This includes a 64MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro shooter. The selfie camera is a 16MP unit, housed inside the hole-punch cutout.

POCO F5 gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. And the company ships a compatible power adapter inside the box itself. For security, there’s a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, while the phone also has an IR blaster and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest budget TWS for 2023 – the Redmi Buds 4 Lite in Nepal. So let’s see what Xiaomi has to offer with Redmi Buds 4 Lite and its official price in Nepal.

Redmi Buds 4 Lite Overview:

Design

As the name suggests, these earbuds are aimed at a younger audience that enjoys bright colors. Xiaomi is offering them in four vibrant shades—Sunset Orange, Trendy Green, Sunny White, and Midnight Black.

The earbuds are semi-in-ear, with slightly curved ear tips and a short stem that resembles the Apple AirPods. It fits snugly into the case horizontally, which Xiaomi claims make taking the earphones easier. It weighs 3.9 grams each and is splash and dustproof according to IP54 standards.

Audio

As for the audio, each bud is fitted with a 12mm dynamic driver that has a double-layer polymer composite diaphragm. This will offer bright and clear treble while the bass stays thick and powerful, says Xiaomi.

Like, a double click will answer incoming calls and play/pause music, while three consecutive clicks will hang up/reject calls and play the next music. There’s even a low-latency game mode that can be activated by holding the stem of each earbud for 1.5 seconds.

Xiaomi has offered Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. And you can pair it with both Android and iOS devices. Moreover, the earbuds are built-in with a high-sensitivity microphone that works in tandem with a noise reduction algorithm to offer clearer calls.

Vivo X90s tipped to feature MediaTek’s flagship Dimensity 9200+ chip

Vivo launched the “X90” series of flagship phones just a few months ago. As camera-centric phones, the Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro, and Vivo X90 Pro+ garnered much attention among the competition. And now, the company is ready to add a slightly upgraded entry to this lineup, called the Vivo X90s. In this article, we’ll walk through all the rumored specs and leaks of this upcoming phone.

Vivo X90s Rumors:

Design and Display

Popular Indian tech site, Mysmartprice, first spotted the Google Play console listing of this smartphone. The listing showcases the phone’s display, revealing a hole-punch cutout and curved sides.

Similarly, it has a 2800 x 1260 pixels resolution—just like the X90 and X90 Pro. And going by the rumors, the X90s will share a similar design language as other phones in this lineup.

MediaTek Dimensity 9200+

Having said that, the biggest highlight of the Vivo X90s is going to be its MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor. MediaTek is officially announcing this chip on May 10, but it is already rumored to move past its rival, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, in terms of benchmarks.

Tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) says its AnTuTu score will be around 1,350,000. Compared to the standard Dimensity 9200, the 9200+ will have a slightly higher clocked Cortex-X3 core at 3.35 GHz (versus 3.05 GHz). Besides this, the Google Play listing also reveals 12GB of RAM on the X90s. As for the software, we expect it to run on Android 13-based Funtouch OS 13.

Camera

As a member of the X90 series, it will likely sport a 50MP Sony IMX866 primary sensor. And while we don’t about the rest of its camera setup, Vivo will bring its custom V2 ISP for those camera optimizations.

Others

Likewise, the phone will support 120W fast charging as per DCS. For wireless connectivity, it will support WiFi 7. Other details regarding the memory configurations, battery capacity, and such are unknown for now.

Vivo announced the V27 series with three new smartphones—Vivo V27e, V27, and V27 Pro—back in March. The V27e is the most affordable entry in the lineup and has made its way to Nepal official. So let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and official price of the Vivo V27e in Nepal.

Helio G99

The Vivo V27e features a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset under the hood. This is the same chipset as the V25e; thus, you shouldn’t expect any performance improvement this time around.
