Motorola Moto X40 launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 165Hz AMOLED

1

After a few weeks of teasers, Motorola has just launched its latest flagship smartphone. The new Moto X40 brings the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and 165Hz AMOLED panel, among other high-end specifications. In this article, we will discuss the Motorola Moto X40 in more detail, including its expected price and availability in Nepal.

Motorola Moto X40 Overview:

Performance and Memory

Motorola Moto X40 comes with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. In fact, it’s the first Motorola phone to feature Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. Talking about the chip, it boasts a 35% faster and a 25% faster CPU, while also being 40% and 45% more power efficient than the last gen. Motorola has paired the chip with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone has an 11-layer 3D heat dissipation system with a cooling surface of 24868.28 sq.mm.

Fueling the Moto X40 is a 4,600mAh battery that supports 125W TurboPower fast charging. This lets the phone go from 0 to 50% in just 7 minutes. In addition, it has support for 15W wireless and 15W reverse charging.

iQOO 11 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip

To make the most out of the 4,600mAh battery, Motorola has implemented the self-developed MAXE engine, which dynamically adjusts the power for the highest performance and best performance based on 7 different scenarios.

Cameras

The camera hardware on the Motorola Moto X40 is impressive too. Motorola was the first brand to launch a 200MP smartphone, but it has not gone beyond the 50MP mark on the latest flagship. The X40 bears not one but two 50MP sensors.

Motorola Moto X40 Camera Module

The first one acts as the primary camera. It has a 1/1.55” sensing area and is equipped with Optical Image Stabilization for extra stabilization. The second 50MP takes the role of both ultrawide and macro cameras. It has a 117° wide Field of View and can take pictures from as close as 2.5cm from the object. Finally, the third camera is a 12MP IMX663 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

Design and Display

Over on the front, Motorola Moto X40 sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and 10-bit color depth. It refreshes at 165Hz, and Motorola has optimized a few games to run at the said refresh rate. The phone also has a 28nm display driver that increases the power efficiency of the screen by 11.2%. That aside, Moto X40 also has certifications from HDR10+ and SGS for HDR and blue-light filter, respectively.

Motorola Moto X40 Design and Display

Both the front and back of the Moto Edge X40 have Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus, with an aviation-grade aluminum grade keeping them together. The back panel even has an AG 2.0 matter finish on top for fingerprint resistance. Motorola also seems proud of the X40’s design has 12 curves and 0 right angles. The phone has IP68 dust and water resistance and comes in two colors: Smoky Black and Tourmaline Blue.

Oppo unveils 3 new smart innovations at the ongoing Inno Day (2022)

0

On the first day of ongoing Inno Day, Oppo unveiled a bunch of new innovations. This includes a new in-house chip, second-gen AR glasses, and the company’s first smart family health monitoring devices. In this article, we will look at the MariSilicon Y, Air Glass 2, and Oppo OHealth H1, all announced on the first day of Inno Day (2022).

Oppo OHealth H1

We are going to start off with the OHealth H1, which is a first of kinds device in Oppo’s otherwise diverse portfolio. This is among the first innovation to come out of Oppo Health Lab, established last year. Oppo has even set up a new OHealth sub-brand which makes us believe we will see a lot more Health Lab products in the future.

Coming to the H1 launched on Inno Day (2022), it comes with six advanced tracking features: heart rate, ECG, blood oxygen (SpO2), auscultation, sleep, body temperature, and cardiopulmonary. Oppo even claims OHealth H1’s data collection to be in line with clinical-grade medical equipment like a stethoscope and a single-lead ECG.

Oppo OHealth H1 Smart Family Health Monitoring Inno Day 2022

This bold claim seems to come from Omron, which is a well-known Japanese medical device. While it’s not clear, we believe Oppo and Omron have collaborated in either or both the precision sensors and the new Sense algorithm.

Moving on, Oppo OHealth H1 stores users’ health data on the company’s health cloud for long-term preventive healthcare. The company believes the H1 will come in handy in telemedicine, AI-assisted diagnosis, and health monitoring and notifications.

Oppo MariSilicon Y chip

Oppo also took the stage at the Inno Day 2022 to announce the MariSilicon Y. It is the company’s second-only in-house chip — the first one being 2021’s MariSilicon X NPU. While the MariSilicon X dealt with image processing, the new Y chip is more concerned with wireless communication. In fact, it is a Bluetooth SoC built on a new N6RF process. This results in 66% less power consumption and a 50% increase in bandwidth, compared to the mainstream BT chips.

Oppo MariSilicon X Bluetooth Pro Chip

The new MariSilicon Y is capable of lossless wireless audio transmission at 24 bits / 192kHz, which Oppo says is the first for the industry. It supports smart adaptive code-rate ranging from 80Kbps to 10Mbps. In addition, the new chip has Smart Active Noise Reduction, Spatial Rendering, Ultra-low latency, Spatial Audio, and Smart Anti-Inference built into it.

Oppo Air Glass 2

Finally, the third major launch at Oppo Inno Day 2022 was the Air Glass 2. It is the successor to Oppo’s first “Assisted Reality” product launched on 2021’s Inno Day. While the first-gen Air Glass looked like a monocle straight out of Dragon Ball Z, its successor has a more realistic design.

Oppo Air Glass 2 Assisted Reality Device

Oppo Air Glass 2 looks more like mainstream glasses with a thicker side frame. It is still lightweight, though — weighing just 30 grams. The lens measures 1.3mm and uses a unique light diffractive waveguide technology. In addition, Air Glass 2 also has a single-pixel MicroLED screen with 3 million nits brightness.

Oppo Air Glass 2 packs the Snapdragon 4100 SoC and boasts battery life of up to 10.5 hours. In terms of features, it supports image correction, real-time translation, navigation, speech-to-text inscription, and more.

Realme V23i goes official with Dimensity 700 5G, 90Hz LCD

0

While we wait for the company to drop its latest number series in Nepal, Realme took the stage in China to announce its latest midrange smartphones. The new V23i is the latest addition to the company’s V-lineup. In this article, we will discuss the key specs, features, expected price, and availability of Realme V23i in Nepal.

Realme V23i Overview:

Delayed Launch

The was no buzz surrounding the launch of the V23i. Realme didn’t tease anything prior, nor it held any official launch event. The phone was just added to the company’s official site with little-to-no information other than its price. And we kind of know why.

For starters, Realme V23i first appeared on the internet earlier in May. It was spotted in one of China’s telecom databases with the RMX3576 model number. The database revealed all the information about the smartphone as well as its marketing name. Back then, it was believed that Realme would announce the phone the same month, but we believe it was held until the silent treatment now.

Realme V23i Design and Display

Performance and Memory

Now that Realme has finally launched the phone, let’s discuss its features and specifications. Realme V23i is being pitched as an entry-level 5G smartphone. It packs the Dimensity 700 chip, first announced in 2020. Built on a 7nm process, it features 2x Cortex-A76 (2.2GHz) performance and 6x Cortex-A55 (2GHz) efficiency cores.

The chip is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD. It is the sole memory variant that Realme V23i is available with, which is uncommon for a mid-range phone in 2022, especially in China. So, you will have to rely on the MicroSD card slot if you need storage bigger than 128GB.

Display and Camera

Another highlight of the Realme V23i is its display. It sports a 6.56-inch screen that refreshes at 90Hz. On the downside, it is not the sharpest display out there, with an HD+ resolution of just 1612 x 720 pixels. It has a center-aligned punch-hole cutout, home to an 8MP selfie camera.

At the back, you get two more image sensors on the rectangular camera module. First is a 13MP primary sensor with a second 2MP depth camera to go with it.

Rest of the Specs

Fueling the Realme V23i is a 5,000mAh battery that supports input charge of up to 10W. It comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. Software-wise, users get the last-gen Realme UI 3 based on Android 12. It measures 8mm in thickness and weighs around 185 grams. Likewise, Realme offers the phone in two colors: Mountain Blue and Jade Black.

Realme V23i Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 163.8 × 75.1 × 8.0mm; 185g
  • Display: 6.56-inch HD+ LCD, 90Hz refresh rate
  • Resolution: HD+ (1612 x 720 pixels)

  • Memory: 4GBGB RAM with 128GB storage (expandable)

  • Colors: Mountain Blue, Jade Black

Realme V23i Price in Nepal and Availability

In China, the sole 4/128GB variant of the V23i is listed for 1,999. We expect the price of the Realme V23i to be Rs. 44,999 if and when it launches in Nepal.

Oppo Find N2 official with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 50MP cameras

1

Oppo announced its first foldable phone, the Find N, at last year’s Inno Day. At the last day of Oppo’s 2022 annual event, the company has now launched its successor, the Find N2. That’s not all — there is a new flip phone, set to compete against the likes of Galaxy Z Flip 4, Pocket S, and Razr 2022. Here, we will discuss the full specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Oppo Find N2 in Nepal.

Oppo Find N2 Overview:

Design and Display

Design-wise, the new Oppo Find N2 is a slimmer and lighter version of its predecessor. Oppo has reduced the thickness from 73mm to 72.6mm, while there is a massive jump in the weight category from 275 gm to 233 grams.

Oppo has also vastly improved the hinge system on its second-gen foldable. The company has reduced the number of moving parts from 138 to 100. As a result, the volume and the weight are down by 37% and 36%, respectively. It can open at any angle between 45° and 125°.

Furthermore, Find N2 now uses composite carbon fiber to support the folding display, making it 34% lighter and the crease 67% less visible. The 5.54-inch external display is the same size as last year. That said, Oppo has changed the aspect ratio by reducing the bezels. Likewise, the screen is smoother with the 120Hz refresh rate and can get as bright as 1,350 nits.

Over on the inside, you get an even brighter display that peaks at 1,550 nits. The 7.1” WUSXGA screen has the same refresh rate as the cover display, but since it is an LTPO AMOLED, it can dial it down to 1Hz to save energy when needed, but it’s not anything new. What’s new is the added support for Oppo Stylus, though you will have to buy it separately as it is not part of the Find N2 bundle.

Camera

Oppo has also strengthened on the photography front. The 50MP primary now uses an upgraded Sony IMX890 with a 1/1.56-inch sensor. It also has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for steady shots. Furthermore, Oppo has replaced the 13MP ultrawide camera with a massive 48MP sensor. The telephoto module gets a similar upgrade, jumping from 13MP to 32MP. For selfies, you get 32MP snapper on external and internal screens. Oppo Find N2 also benefits from the in-house MariSilicon X imaging NPU and Hasselblad color calibration.

Performance and Battery

We do get a better processor than the Snapdragon 888 on the original Find N. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is still not the latest flagship chip in Qualcomm’s arsenal. The chip is paired with up to 15GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Oppo Find N2 ships with Android 13 out of the box with ColorOS on top.

The battery has seen a slight increase to 4,520mAh, while it now charges a lot faster at 67W. So, you can expect a fully charged phone in just 42.5 minutes.

Oppo Find N2 Specifications:

  • Display:
    • Outer: 5.54-inch E6 AMOLED, FHD (2120 × 1080 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate
    • Inner: 7.1-inch E6 AMOLED WUSXGA (1920 × 1792 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate (LTPO backplane)
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (4nm mobile platform)
  • Main Camera: Triple:
    • 50MP f/1.8 primary sensor, OIS
    • 48MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens
    • 32MP f/2.0 telephoto lens
  • Selfie Camera (Outer/Inner): 32MP with f/2.4 aperture
  • Memory: up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM,  512GB UFS storage
  • Software: Android 13 based ColorOS 13
  • Fingerprint Sensor: Side Mounted
  • Battery: 4520mAh battery with 67W wired charging

Oppo Find N2 Price in Nepal and Availability

In China, the Find N2 starts at CNY 7,999 for the 12/256GB variant. The higher 16/512GB configuration costs CNY 8,999. If and when the Oppo Find N2 is released in Nepal, we expect the price to start at NPR 199,999.

There is not much to write home about the design of the new Z45. In fact, it would be hard to distinguish it from the Z40 if not for its smaller size and the Z45 branding on the back. You can choose between blue and green variants, depending on your taste.

Otherwise, the duo of 13MP primary and 2MP depth sensors is not something we have not seen before. There is an 8MP front-facing camera.

On the software side, you get multiple shooting modes, like HDR, night, burst, panorama, and Pro modes. For videos, there is slow-mo and time-lapse.

Xiaomi Watch S2 goes official with AMOLED screen, BT calling, built-in GPS

1

Xiaomi held its last big event of 2022 in China yesterday, where it announced two new flagship phones and other smart devices. Among the new accessories announced is the company’s latest premium smartwatch. The new Watch S2 is the successor to the Watch S1 series. So, let’s get into the official specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Xiaomi Watch S2 smartwatch in Nepal.

Xiaomi Watch S2 smartwatch Overview:

Design

New to the Xiaomi Watch S2 is the smaller 42mm variant with a 1.32-inch AMOLED screen. It now accompanies the 46mm variant with a 1.43-inch screen that the original Watch S1 introduced. The Watch S2 sports a stainless frame with two physical buttons on the right. The watch has a 5 ATM rating and thus can be taken underwater up to 5m depth.

Depending you can opt for either the standard silicone or the leather straps. The standard edition has an all-black body, while the leather option will get you a silver watch with a blue strap (46mm model) or a light gold watch with a matching strap (44mm model). Xiaomi also plans to make colorful silicone straps separately for users that don’t like the black strap on the standard edition.

Health and Fitness Tracking

Another highlight of the Xiaomi Watch S2 watch is the body composition measurement. With this, the watch can measure 8 health and fitness data in a few seconds. By placing two fingers on the side buttons, users can get data on complex parameters like body fat percentage, muscle mass, and protein volume.

If you are over the age of 18 years, it can also give you the skin temperature. But, the accuracy is highly reliant on the surface and duration of contact between the watch and skin.

That aside, you get all the usual health-tracking features like 24-hour heart rate, continuous blood oxygen (SpO2), advanced sleep evaluation, female health tracking, stress monitoring, and breathing exercises. Xiaomi Watch S2 has around 107 sports models, and it can automatically detect a few of them, like running, walking, rowing, and skipping.

Xiaomi Watch S2 Health Tracking Features

Smart Features

The fitness data of the Xiaomi Watch S2 can be synced to your phone via a smartphone app. The watch has Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and is compatible with newer Android phones and iPhones. You also get a dedicated GPS chip to track your movement more accurately. If you get lost out in the wilderness, you can press the button thrice in quick succession to send your real-time location details to a predetermined list of trusted contact.

Watch S2 even has a set of speakers and microphones that you can use to take and make calls. It even has Xiaomi’s voice assistant in China, but it’s likely Xiaomi won’t include it in the global version when it goes out of China. Likewise, the watch even has NFC for wireless payment.
