WhatsApp to use in-app banner to allow users to review the latest policy

0

WhatsApp has been facing criticism from tech enthusiasts and users following the announcement of its latest privacy policy. The company believes that all this happened due to misinformation so it has delayed its implementation. Instead, the messaging platform is more focused on explaining the terms of the new policy to the users. In the latest move, WhatsApp has started displaying an in-app banner that users can read at their own convenience to know about the upcoming policy changes.

WhatsApp In-App Banner for Policy Change Review

The announcement about the in-app banner was made via an official blog post. It is part of an updated plan which the app will use to ask users to review the upcoming changes. The company believes that it will help users clear up any confusion that has risen since the introduction of the new terms of service and privacy policy. Prior to this, the company has experimented with using Status and sending full-size notifications to inform users about the policy change.

WhatsApp In-App Banner for Policy Review Policy Changes May 15 Privacy Terms and Conditions

The banner will appear on the homepage of the app directly above the messages. If you want more information about the new update, you can simply tap on the “Tap to Review” option. This will take you to a new page where WhatsApp discusses the changes that the new policy will bring. If you are convinced, you can click on continue from where you will be taken to another page. Here, you can accept the upcoming changes by hitting Accept.

You will have to make the decision by May 15. Otherwise, you may lose access to the app. However, that won’t happen instantly. Users will be able to receive calls and notifications for short time past May 15. Yet, you will have to accept the policy in order to read and reply to these messages.

WhatsApp defends its latest privacy policy

WhatsApp is still stressing that it uses end-to-end encryption for private messages. It claims that no one will be able to see and read these messages. Here, the company is defending itself from the recent allegations that the new privacy policy will allow WhatsApp to share your private data directly with its parent company Facebook.

WhatsApp has also clarified that it doesn’t even keep logs of your messages, calls, and shared locations. It claims that the new policy will only change the way users interact with businesses via the app.

Also, the blog states that the “limited data” that WhatsApp collects from its users help the platform to be safer and more reliable.

“We believe people are looking for apps to be both reliable and safe, even if that requires WhatsApp having some limited data.”

The blog says that the company will continue to develop new ways of meeting responsibilities with less information.

Samsung Nepal launched the budget-oriented Galaxy M02s earlier this year. And now, the company has launched the regular M02. The device is now available for purchase in Nepal from the majority of mobile shops all over Nepal. In this post, we will take a look at the specs, features, and prices of the Samsung Galaxy M02 in Nepal.

Here, the Galaxy M02s were very similar to the A02s that were announced last year. Similarly, the M02 shares most of its features with the recently launched A02.

Design and Display

Samsung Galaxy M02 Design

The phone sports a 6.5-inch HD+ display. It has an Infinity-V notch that houses the front-facing camera. The bezels around the screen are quite thick, especially at the chin. At the back, Galaxy M02 has a pill-shaped camera module instead of the rectangular one in the M02s. An LED flash resides just below it. The panel has textured stripes for a tight grip. The phone is 9.1mm thick and weighs around 206grams. There are four color options to choose from– Black, Grey, Blue, and Red.

Performance and Memory

Powering the Galaxy M02 is MediaTek MT6739W, which is a quad-core CPU with subpar performance. It is definitely a downgrade from the Snapdragon 450 chipset from the M02s. The phone is available in two RAM variants – 2 and 3GB of RAM. Both variants come with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using an external microSD card. The phone ships with Android 10 with Samsung One UI Core on top.

Daraz introduces 0% EMI plan for its customers

Daraz Nepal has introduced a new feature in their e-commerce platforms to facilitate the customer’s shopping experience. Basically, it is introducing a 0% EMI facility. This service is available with select partner banks only. There are some other nitty-gritty details about the Daraz Nepal 0% EMI plan that you must be aware of. So, let’s dive into the details about this new facility from Daraz.

What is 0% EMI?

Before getting into Daraz’s new feature, let’s first talk about what 0% EMI means. This is also known as no-cost EMI (Equated Monthly Installments). And as the name suggests, you’ll be paying EMI at zero % interest. Therefore, you’ll be paying only the total price of the products over a period of predefined tenure.

For instance, if you purchase a product worth Rs. 20,000 at 4-month no-cost EMI, you’ll be paying Rs. 5,000 each month for 4 months. And at the end of 4 months, you’d have paid Rs. 20,000 with zero interest.

Daraz Nepal 0% EMI

Coming back to Daraz’s 0% EMI plan, customers will be able to purchase a product with a preferred payment plan if they own a credit card of select partner banks. There are no mark-up or processing fees from Daraz’s side. However, you’ll have to pay the credit card issuance fee to the bank.

This 0% EMI plan is applicable to all the products, given that they meet the minimum purchase amount. Moreover, this plan is not applicable to the total cart value. That means one has to have only a single product in their cart if they want to use the 0% EMI plan. And partial payments cannot be converted into EMI plans.

How to convert to EMI?

Basically, what you have to do is ensure that you only have a single product in your cart. And are going to pay with a partner bank credit card. The associated banks who support 0% EMI include:

  • Sunrise Bank
  • Machhapuchchhre Bank
  • NIC Asia Bank
  • Citizens Bank

Once that’s done, you’ll have to call your respective bank to convert to EMI. However, for NIC Asia, you can simply fill up the EMI request form. You’ll also have to make sure to note down the tenure for the EMI. After the bank converts your request you’ll be notified via an SMS. And it might take about 7 days for the plan to be activated.

Depending upon the associated partner bank, the minimum purchase amount, maximum cap, and tenure differ. These details are presented in the table below:

Bank Tenure Max. Cap Min. Purchase
NIC Asia 3 months Rs. 140,000 Rs. 15,000
Citizens 3 months, 6 months Approved Limit Rs. 10,000
Sunrise 3 months, 6 months Approved Limit Rs. 15,000
Machhapuchchhre 3 months, 6 months Approved Limit Rs. 15,000

Daraz Haat Bazaar

daraaz haat bazaar

On a different note, Daraz Nepal is also starting a new shopping scheme called the Daraz Haat Bazaar. It will commence on 23rd February and includes lots of exciting programs.

For instance, there is the “Daraz Saathi” program. It is basically a referral program in which existing Daraz users can invite others and win vouchers up to Rs. 500. Similarly, there are other vouchers available for first-time shoppers too.

And like recent times, there is going to the Daraz 1 Rupee game as well. Here, customers can pick a product from the product of the day list on their Daraz app/website and add it to their cart. Then, you’ll be able to checkout the product for just Re. 1 if you make the payment through a valid credit/debit card. And if you’re lucky, you get the product for Re. 1. Else, even if you don’t win, the money gets refunded.

Apple has started working on the next generation 6G connectivity

0

You can say 5G is still in its infancy. It has not been implemented everywhere and it was only a year ago that 5G-capable smartphones started becoming mainstream. However, that has not stopped companies from working on the next-generation of mobile connectivity. Last year, Samsung published a white paper on its vision of 6G. And now, a job listing on Bloomberg has hinted at Apple is also working on 6G independently.

Apple and 6G

Apple doesn’t like to implement new technology in its infancy. The company likes to put time into research and development and only implement certain technology when it’s mature enough. For instance, Apple waited for 5G coverage in the US to grow and become more accessible before launching the 5G-enabled iPhone 12 lineup. However, the “let it mature” strategy seemed to have paid off as iPhone 12 Pro Max was recently named the most popular 5G phone in the US by PCMag.

Apple and Next G Alliance

Just a few months ago, we got to know about Apple’s interest in the next-generation mobile connectivity when it joined the Next G Alliance. The Next G Alliance is a group of companies working to maintain North American mobile technology leadership in 5G evolution and early development of 6G. The group consists of leading telecom operators, vendors, and hardware manufacturers. At present, the North American companies seemed to lag behind in the development of the 5G infrastructure.

Next G Alliance

Apple is looking for 6G Engineers

In addition to its contribution to the cause of the Next G Alliance, it looks like Apple is working on 6G on its own. Recently, Bloomberg reported that the company is looking for engineers and researchers to work on the development of 6G connectivity.

In the job posting, Apple has called individuals for job titles like “Wireless Research System Engineer – 5G/6G” and “RAN1/RAN4 Standards Engineer.” Selected candidates will take part in “research and design of next-generation wireless communication systems for radio access networks.” The candidates should also be willing to “participate in industry/academics forums passionate about 6G technology.”

Moving Forward

This could mean that Apple is looking to utilize its own technology and hardware when 6G eventually rolls out. Currently, Apple has been relying on Qualcomm for 5G modems. The Snapdragon X55 modem on 2020’s flagship Android phones is also on the iPhone 12 lineup. The company is also working on its own 5G modems. But there is still a long way for that to make its way into commercial products. According to the reports, 2021’s iPhones will use Snapdragon X60 while their successors will use the X65. Apple will be using its own modems only in 2023 and beyond.

In spite of all the research and developments, the next generation 6G mobile connectivity will be deployed in 2030 at the earliest. It is expected to be around 100 times faster than 5G.

Detel’s “most economical electric vehicles” coming soon to Nepal

Detel announced two new electric vehicles—the Detel Easy Plus and Easy Loader in India during the India Auto Show 2021. And now, Detel has announced to launch these two electric vehicles in Nepal at an aggressive price. In this post, we will be taking a look at the features of the new EVs.

Detel: Company Overview

Detel was founded back in 2017 by Yogesh Bhatia. The company’s motto is to bridge the gap between price and functionality. It caters to price-sensitive markets with its value-for-money products. For instance, the Detel D1 feature phone was launched in 2017 for INR 299. However, the company deals in a wide range of products including phones, home appliances, EVs, and helmets. Detel designs its own products and manufactures them using local or imported technologies.

Lately, the company has been putting its effort to fuel the electric vehicle revolution in India. Now, with the forthcoming launch of its EVs in Nepal it wants to do the same in Nepal. For Detel, it’s a step to establishing a strong foothold in the South Asian market.

Detel Electric Vehicles Overview:

Detel Easy Plus

Here, the Detel Easy Plus is a successor to last year’s Detel Easy. The latter was the most affordable EV in India but has since been discontinued. The company also claims Detel Easy Plus to be the most economical electric vehicle in the world. It can achieve speeds of up to 25km per hour only. Thus, it doesn’t feature a disc brake mechanism. It can support a payload of up to 150kg and comes in four different colors – Yellow, Red, Teal Blue, and Royal Blue.

Detel Easy Loader

On the other hand, the Detel Easy Loader is a B2B product. Thus, it won’t be available for the general public. It will be available in both single and dual-battery setup. Compared to Easy Plus, it will support heavier payloads. It will be available in White color option only.

The batteries on either of them are removable and can be put back easily. You won’t need a driving license to take them to the road.

Applications

Detel looks to replace traditional bicycles with its latest electric scooters. These scooters are ideal for the distribution and delivery of products including newspapers, vegetables, fruits, and groceries. One can also use it to travel to schools, college, and even office.

Detel also promises these to be the most economical EVs. Each customer will also receive a personalized certificate as part of the Detel Green Nepal initiative. The company will plant a tree on the behalf of each customer. GeoTag of the tree will be included in the certificate.

Detel Electric Vehicles Price in Nepal

Detel has chosen Opal Multinational as its official business partner in Nepal. The company led by Mr. Nirajan Shrestha will oversee the company’s business in Nepal. Detel electric vehicles will soon be available in Nepal at a competitive price.

We will have to wait for the official confirmation regarding the pricing and availability of Detel Easy Plus and Easy Loader two-wheeler EVs in Nepal.

Zero 2 Infinity will take you to space for $132K on its Bloon pod

1

You may all have heard about Elon Musk’s plan to put mankind on Mars. His company SpaceX is also working on a project to make the concept of space tourism a reality. It is not the only company working on this concept. There are plenty of other companies working with the same intention. Blue Origin, a company backed by Jeff Bezos, is also focused on space tourism. In this post, we will be talking about Zero 2 Infinity which intends to charge passengers $132,000 for the orbital trip.

Zero 2 Infinity: Company Overview

Zero 2 Infinity is a startup based in Spain that intends to close the gap between human civilization and space. It was found back in 2009 by CEO Jose Mariano Lopez Urdiales. It focuses on getting user’s projects into space at affordable fees. For this, the company has been using its advanced balloon technologies. As of now, it has three distinct lines of services – Bloostar, Elevate, and Bloon.

Bloostar is an orbital launcher that places small satellites into space. Elevate is a service mainly used by researchers to elevate different payloads up to 40km into space. Bloon, on the other hand, will be used for space tourism.

Bloon: A Journey to the Stratosphere

Zero 2 Infinity is using a pressurized pod that is capable of sustaining human life. The technology used here is the same as that of Elevate. The pod or the capsule is propelled by Helium gas will be able to take passengers up to 36km above the ground. The distance may not look like much compared to its competitors that are offering to elevated users up to 100km up the ground. On the other hand, Bloon will be able to complete a journey quicker and the journey will easier on the passenger’s wallet.

According to Zero 2 Infinity, Bloon can complete one journey into the stratosphere in around 4.5 hours. It will take around 1.5 hours for Bloon to elevate and then it will lay flat on the space for around 2 hours. The remaining one hours will be utilized to return to the earth.

Bloon Pod

According to the company, the Bloon experience is completely customizable. Passengers can choose their own launching spot, their favorite menu, and so on. They can even experience microgravity during the descent without any risk if they want to.

Two pilots in the balloon will be experienced pilots trained to face any kind of emergency. In addition to this, every passenger will be given two-day safety training before the flight.

First Planned Flight and Pricing

Zero 2 Infinity is on the verge of opening tickets of Bloon for the general public. Each ticket will cost around $132,483. To put it into perspective, SpaceX and Blue Origin are asking $55 million and $200,000, respectively. Another company called Space Perspective is planning to sell its ticket at just $125,000. However, it will begin unmanned test flights in 2021, by which all the other companies listed companies wish to have been operating flights in one way or other.

The Bloon pod can accommodate four passengers in addition to two pilots at a time. The first person to use go through the journey will be professional mountaineer Raha Moharrak.

Oppo A15s launched in Nepal with slight improvements over A15

0

Oppo has just unveiled its latest budget device in the Nepali Market. The new Oppo A15s is a slight improvement over the A15 that was launched last month in Nepal. To be more precise, it features more storage and has an improved selfie camera. Let’s learn more about the Oppo A15s including its specs, features, official price, and availability in Nepal.

Oppo A15s Overview:

Budget offerings from Oppo are not known for their internal specs and such is the case with this one. The main selling point of the A15s is its look and design. It lags behind competitors like Redmi 9 Power when it comes to specs and raw performance.

Design and Display

Here, Oppo A15s features a 6.52-inch LCD Panel with a waterdrop notch. The screen-to-body ratio is listed at 88.7%. The phone has an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. The typical brightness of the screen is 480 nits and the phone has an AI Brightness feature that can automatically adjust brightness by learning your preferences.

Oppo A15s Color Options

Benchmarked: Exynos 2100 Sustained Performance, Gaming Tests

0

Samsung is one of the handful of OEMs that manufactures its own mobile chipsets. From budget, mid-range to its flagship lineup of Exynos-branded silicons, the company even sells them to other OEMs. Despite the pseudo chip self-sufficiency, it’s not been smooth sailing for Samsung though. For the past couple of years, it has been met with harsh criticisms backed by damning evidence about how the flagship Exynos chips lag behind their respective Qualcomm counterpart. So here, we’re putting the new Exynos 2100 through a bunch of benchmarks and gaming tests.

Well, I guess it’s safe to say that Samsung brought it upon itself considering how the company chooses to ship its premium S and Note lineup of smartphones with different chipsets on different regions. While select markets like the US, China, and South Korea enjoy Snapdragon variants of Samsung’s best, the rest of the world gets Exynos-powered devices. And the prime reason for this backlash is obviously the performance difference.

The Curse of Custom CPU Design

Up until now, Samsung had been using its own CPU core design named “Mongoose”. In terms of performance, thermal management, and other aspects, it significantly fell behind compared to what Qualcomm had to offer. And last year’s Exynos 990 was the last straw as the number 1 smartphone brand in the world finally parted ways with its in-house CPU cores.

Galaxy S21 Ultra - Gaming 1

To mark the start of a new era, the company held its second-ever dedicated event to unveil a chipset—Exynos 2100 (the first one being for Exynos 1080). The new Exynos 2100 goes all-in on Arm’s CPU and GPU architecture to remedy the damage as much as possible.

Based on the 5nm EUV process, Samsung has created an inescapable cloud of hype for its latest mobile SoC. For what it’s worth, it is undoubtedly miles better than Exynos 990 on every front possible. It has the same core architecture as its direct rival—Snapdragon 888 (with a slightly overclocked Cortex-X1 core). However, these chips do differ in the GPU department. As I mentioned earlier, the Exynos 2100 employs an Arm design here as well. More specifically, the Mali-G78 GPU. On the contrary, Snapdragon 888 boasts Qualcomm’s own Adreno 660 GPU.

Historically speaking, Arm’s GPU design has never quite matched what Qualcomm’s been able to achieve. As a result, they are comparatively under-powered while being slightly energy-efficient. So, to test out the possibilities of Exynos 2100, we put it through a bunch of different games to benchmark its performance.

Exynos 2100 Benchmarks:

Talking about benchmarks, pitting the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 variant of the latest Galaxy S21 series of smartphones has generated buzz in the tech community. But that was to be expected I guess. But the weird thing is, the result has varied by a significant margin from tests conducted by multiple YouTubers.

Galaxy S21 Ultra - Rear Camera

In our everyday usage, we haven’t encountered any problem with our Exynos-powered Galaxy S21 Ultra—be it performance or energy-efficiency. So, we put it through a bunch of CPU and GPU benchmarking applications as well. Before getting to the results, I have to mention that our unit of the S21 Ultra has 12 gigs of RAM and 256GB of storage. Additionally, we recorded the CPU and battery temperature via the “CPU Monitor” app.

AnTuTu v8

Let’s kick things off with AnTuTu (v8). Here, we put it through 10 consecutive cycles of tests to determine how does Exynos 2100 fare in terms of sustained performance. In the beginning, the phone was at 100% charge, while the CPU and battery temperature hovered at 24-25ºC and 24ºC respectively.

Test 10 561469 152258 214664 117521 77026
  • Time taken for 1st test: 8 minutes 41 seconds
  • Time taken for 5 tests: 43 minutes 42 seconds
    • CPU temperature: 38-39ºC
    • Battery temperature: 38ºC
  • Total time taken for 10 tests: 1 hour 27 minutes 23 seconds
    • CPU temperature: 40ºC
    • Battery temperature: 38ºC
    • Charge left: 58%

As you can see, Exynos 2100 delivers a great sustained performance while also maintaining excellent temperature. Contrary to how we’ve seen other YouTubers get continuously degrading results under consecutive loads, we were rather surprised to see how our unit of S21 Ultra held up.

3DMark Wild Life Stress Test

Next up, we ran the 3DMark Wild Life Stress test. It requires a GPU with Vulkan 1.1 API support which the Exynos 2100 does.

3DMark Wild Life Stress Test

As the name implies, it tests a device under a heavy load. While AnTuTu mimics the overall aspects of your phone, this test is more geared towards GPU performance. Here as well, the phone had 100% charge at the beginning of the test with CPU and battery temperature at 22ºC and 21ºC respectively.

Best Loop Score  Lowest Loop Score  Stability
Test 1 5509 3720 67.5%
Test 2 3286 3233 98.9%
Test 3 5106 3727 73%
  • Time taken for Test 1: 20 minutes 10 seconds
    • CPU temperature: 42ºC
    • Battery temperature: 40ºC
    • Charge left: 88%
  • Time taken for Test 2: 20 minutes 30 seconds
      • CPU temperature: 38ºC
      • Battery temperature: 35ºC
      • Charge left: 79%
  • Time taken for Test 3: 20 minutes 14 seconds
    • CPU temperature: 45ºC
    • Battery temperature: 43ºC
    • Charge left: 69%

Here as well, the Exynos 2100 shows an admirable performance under heavy load. The temperature does reach the 45ºC mark but even here, this silicon manages to bounce back from the dip noticed under the second test.

GFXBench

Moving on, the final test that we ran was GFXBench. Like the one above, it is also a GPU-centric benchmarking tool. Under this, we took the Galaxy S21 Ultra through 9 loops of Aztec Ruins OpenGL (High Tier), Aztec Ruins Vulkan (High Tier), and Manhattan tests. The stats of the initial state read 100% battery life, 23ºC CPU, and 21ºC battery temperature.

AR (O) HT  AR (V) HT  Manhattan CPU Battery
Test 1 40fps 35fps 117fps 32ºC 30ºC
Test 2 39fps 33fps 113fps 36ºC 32ºC
Test 3 37fps 32fps 107fps 40ºC 37ºC
Test 4 35fps 31fps 98fps 41ºC 39ºC
Test 5 35fps 31fps 94fps 43ºC 41ºC
Test 6 33fps 30fps 99fps 44ºC 42ºC
Test 7 27fps 25fps 101fps 43ºC 41ºC
Test 8 27fps 25fps 100fps 44ºC 42ºC
Test 9 27fps 25fps 100fps 44ºC 41ºC

This silicon once again proves its worth under heavy workload. With these out of the way, let’s get into the gaming benchmarks of Exynos 2100. We played a bunch of demanding titles, some high refresh rate optimized, some not, and even a couple of emulator-based games. For an in-depth analysis, we used the GameBench Pro tool. Unfortunately, it didn’t support the Mali-G78 GPU and for this, we had to refer to Samsung’s GPUWatch.

Exynos 2100 Benchmarks: Gaming

In Call of Duty: Mobile (highest setting), we were able to get a stable 60fps with 87% stability. Here, the CPU usage hovered under 15%, and thankfully, the phone didn’t heat up much either. Next up is Genshin Impact which is a fairly resource-demanding game. With the graphics settings set at 30fps, we got a median of 30fps. The fps would get as high as 51fps while dipping as low as 23fps.

Now cranking the game settings to 60fps, we got a varying result in different sessions. On our first gameplay, it netted out to 35fps median with a 73% stability. While it did reach 60fps on multiple instances, the frame rate would go as low as just 14fps. This extreme plummet was mostly under cutscenes, which is kinda weird. Giving it another shot, we were able to achieve a median of 51fps with 95% stability. Here, the lowest frame rate recorded was 24fps while reaching up to 61fps. In both instances, the CPU usage was around 18-19%.

PUBG Mobile

Moving on, PES 2021 gave smooth gameplay with a median of 57fps and 100% fps stability. This game is relatively easy on the GPU so this result isn’t at all surprising. Kicking things up a notch, let’s take a look at PUBG Mobile. Under HDR graphics and Ultra frame rate, I was able to get a 40fps median with 98% stability. Here, the CPU usage averaged at 12.73% while GPU usage would reach up to 90% while staying at 60-70% most of the time. Mind you, the Snapdragon variant of the S21 Ultra can hit higher settings than this.

Exynos 2100 - PUBG Mobile

As you could tell, the gameplay here was fairly smooth. The surface temperature stayed at a respectable level too, with it reaching about 41ºC after around 32 minutes of gaming. Switching the settings to Smooth graphics and Extreme frame rate, things took a wonderfully positive turn. Averaging at 60fps with 97% stability, this is the objectively optimal setting you’d want to play PUBG Mobile at if you want smooth, stutter-free gameplay.

Still, seeing how a game as popular as PUBG Mobile isn’t optimized to utilize the 120Hz smoothness of these days’ smartphones is a travesty. We have seen Tencent partner with vendors like OnePlus exclusivize 90fps experience on its phones, so Samsung needs to get on with this trend ASAP. Well, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra did receive an update for 90fps PUBG gaming but in our test, the gameplay was stuck at a stable 60fps the whole time.

High-FPS Gaming

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any games that utilize high-fps gaming. One of such titles we tried was Shadowgun War Games. At 120fps mode under Ultra High settings, the S21 Ultra managed to achieve a median of 73fps with 61% stability. Before you get any wrong idea, the dip in fps number from what we expected is mainly because of LTPO-backplane in the phone’s display that dynamically refreshes from 10 to 120Hz.

Exynos 2100 Benchmarks - Shadowgun War Games

From this framerate chart, we can see that the game reaches up to 107fps at peak while dropping to up to 56fps under active gameplay. However, because the display dials down the refresh rate as low as possible, Shadowgun War Games plummets to up to 24fps at loading screens—therefore resulting in such an unstable stat.

Injustice 2 was another supposedly 120fps optimized title but we couldn’t hit beyond 30fps in the actual gameplay in S21 Ultra. Looks like this feature of the game is device-specific as phones like Asus ROG Phone II indeed support Injustice 2 in 120fps. Here, the GPU usage lingered around 43-50% while using CPU at about just 8.16%. Yet, the refresh rate would bump up to 57fps when you’re browsing the in-game menus.

Galaxy S21 Ultra - Gaming 2

Finally, we played Critical Ops as well, which is another 120fps game. And this one ran the best as we got a median of 120fps with 99% stability. Kudos to the devs. Now, to test out the absolute limits of Mali-G78 on the Exynos 2100, we also tried out a couple of emulator-based games. Particularly, we played PlayStation Portable games like “God of War – Ghost of Sparta” using the PPSSPP emulator.

Pushing To The Limit: Emulator Games

To push it to the limit, we had to set the PSP rendering resolution to 6x. Playing God of War under this setting, we got a peak of 39fps with the median fps settling at 29. Here, the GPU usage didn’t fall below 95% while reaching as high as 99%. So, mission accomplished I guess.

Mind you, this is just not the ideal setting you’d want to play the game at and you’ll get a much playable 50-60fps by toning down the render resolution.

Exynos 2100 Benchmarks: Conclusion

So, from all these benchmarks and gaming tests, what we can most certainly tell is that the Exynos 2100 is a gigantic leap from last year’s Exynos 990. Both in terms of performance and thermals, it introduces a significant upgrade. More importantly, it is a proven champ when it comes to sustained long-term performance too—all the while maintaining excellent temperatures.
