Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra debuts with an insane 120x Ultra-Zoom and a customizable GPU

0

Xiaomi is now a decade old company. The company is celebrating 10 years of its establishment this month. To make the occasion memorable, Xiaomi launched a couple of new smartphones. One of them is the new Mi 10 Ultra. Let’s check out the specs features, expected price, and availability of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra in Nepal.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Overview

The device is called Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition in China. Outside of the home country, it will go by the name of Mi 10 Ultra. Before the launch, the expectations were high on this device as it was rumored to debut with an in-display selfie camera. Though it turned out to be nothing but rumors, the Mi 10 Ultra still comes with notable upgrades to the Mi 10 Pro.

Design and Display

Mi 10 Ultra features a 6.67-inch FHD AMOLED Display. The display has a peak brightness level of 1120 nits and supports a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The display also supports the native 10-bit color depth. This combined with JNCD <0.63 and Delta-E <1 accuracy, Xiaomi claims the smartphone will provide TrueColor Experience that is essential for professional designers. Altogether, the display can produce 1.07 billion colors. The smartphone supports HDR10+ content as well.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra design

For gamers, it supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. The smartphone features ambient sensors on both the front and back of the device for better brightness level adjustment. The display has TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort Certification. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The device is available in three colors – Obsidian Black (Ceramic back), Transparent Edition (transparent back), and Bright Silver (Glass back)

Performance and Memory

Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset. Though it’s a powerful SoC in itself, Xiaomi could have gone with the latest SD 865+. That would have added to the appeal of the device. Still, the device packs some features that can lure gamers. In addition to Qualcomm’s Elite Gaming Features, Xiaomi has included a bunch of gaming features under the GameTurbo 4.0. It even allows users to customize the GPU settings. Users can toggle with frame rate and resolution.

The device comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Under the Trial mode, users will be able to directly download their games on to the RAM for better speed. Xiaomi claims that it can boost installation and launch speed by up to 40-60%. After the trial, users can uninstall the games. The internal storage used in the device is based on UFS 3.1. Xiaomi claims that the device has managed to score 660,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark test.

Camera

The cameras are the biggest talking point of the device. As of now, it is the highest-ranked smartphone by DXOMARK (130 points).

The 120x AI Super Zoom is the first of its kind on a smartphone. The Sony IMX586 sensor stands out among the rest of the cameras. This sensor uses 1.6micron four-in-one Super Pixels, that can capture details without overexposure even in low light. It comes with OIS for clearer images. The camera can record 8K videos and has a viewfinder mode which will add a small preview window once the 15X zoom is exceeded.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra camera setup

The 48MP custom-made primary camera features a 1/1.32-inch sensor. The four in one pixel binning can improve the 1.2micron pixel size to up to 2.4micron. It also supports OIS and can record 8K videos. Xiaomi has also included Dual Native ISO Fusion technology, chip-level HDR, and HDR10 capture. The features are said to improve dynamic range while reducing HDR ghosting.

The device also includes a 20MP ultra-wide sensor (FOV 128-degree) and a 12MP portrait lens. The latter offers a 2X optical zoom. At the front, you’ll find a 20MP selfie camera inside a punch-hole cutout on the top-left corner.

Rest of the specs

Mi 10 Ultra features a 4,500mAh battery consisting of two cells combined series. It’s the first commercially available device to support 120W fast wired charging. It supports three charging modes – double-pump charging, direct charging, and normal charging. The charger can recharge the device up to 41% in 5 minutes and the whole process can be completed in 23 minutes. The device also supports 50W wireless charging that can charge the device completely in 40 minutes. Connectivity-wise, the device supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and multifunctional NFC

Redmi K30 Ultra brings 120Hz display, pop-up camera, Dimensity 1000+ under $290

0

When Redmi launched the Redmi K20 series back in 2018, it helped fill the void left by the Poco F1. Continuing the tradition, Redmi followed the K20 series with Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 Pro in 2020. And now, Redmi has launched the Redmi K30 Ultra on the occasion of its 10 years anniversary. Read along to know more about the specs, features, expected price, and availability of Redmi K30 Ultra in Nepal.

Redmi K30 Ultra Overview

Redmi K30 Ultra is not a phone that has been built from the ground up. Rather, it is based on the Redmi K3 Pro but features some changes that distinguish it from its sibling.

120Hz Refresh Rate

Redmi K30 Ultra Design display

There is no change in the design department – the Redmi K30 Ultra looks strikingly similar to the Redmi K30 Pro. It also features the same 6.67-inch screen size. Redmi has confirmed that the AMOLED display used on this device comes from Samsung. The display has a peak brightness of 1200 nits and a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. The Redmi K30 Pro was criticized for having a standard 60Hz display so Redmi has included 120Hz panel on this one. However, users need to switch between 60Hz and 120Hz refresh rate manually. The touch sampling rate is 240Hz.

The panel covers 100% of DCI-P3 color gamut and supports HDR10+ content. Like the Redmi K30 Pro, the Ultra comes with a pop-up selfie camera. Thus, the smartphone can boasts screen to body ratio of 92.7%.

MediaTek Dimensity Chipset

Redmi has broken a tradition with this new device. Over the years, the Redmi K series has only featured high-end smartphone chipsets from Qualcomm. However, the Redmi K30 Ultra is the first device under the K series to feature a MediaTek processor.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G

The device packs in the Dimensity 1000+ chipset. This 7nm chipset features four Cortex A77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz and four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 2Ghz. The graphics are handled by Mali G77 MP9. Helio M70 5G modem is integrated into the chipset. However, it only supports the slower sub-6Hz spectrum. For gamers, MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 is included for a better gaming experience. The cooling arrangement in the K30 Ultra includes a vapor chamber and a heat dissipation system composed of graphene and graphite.

The base variant of the Redmi K30 Ultra comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. All the higher variants feature 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of internal storage.

Camera

At the back, the device flaunts a quad-camera setup. The cameras remain unchanged from what we saw in the K30 Pro. The 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor leads the setup. Users get a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, along with a 5MP telephoto macro sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 20MP sensor mounted on the mechanical pop-up mechanism.

Redmi K30 Ultra Camera setup

Some interesting camera features include Magic Day 3.0, that uses AI to switch between different dynamic scene. The three mic Audio Zoom feature lets users zoom both visual and audio at the same time. Users can also record using the front and rear cameras simultaneously using a split-screen.

Battery and Rest of the specs

Redmi K30 Ultra includes a 4,500mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. The company has not opted for wireless charging to keep the price down. The 33W charger is included in the box. It also features dual stereo speakers and a linear vibration motor. Like other Redmi devices, it has an IR blaster. Users will also have NFC at their disposal.

Redmi K30 Ultra Specifications:

  • Body: 163.3 x 75.4 x 9.1 mm; 213 gm
  • Display: 6.67-inches AMOLED panel; 120Hz Refresh Rate; 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate; Corning Gorilla Glass 5; 100% DCI-P3; HDR10+; 1200 nits peak brightness

Infinix made a proper debut in Nepal with the Hot 9 Play. We are yet to see the two other devices under Infinix Hot 9 series land in Nepal. However, the company is already working on its successor. Recently, the Hot 10 appeared in Google Play Console’s listing. Let’s check out the specs, features, expected launch date, and availability of Infinix Hot 10 in Nepal.

Infinix Hote 10 Rumors Roundup

Design and Display

Unfortunately, we only get to see the front part of the upcoming Infinix Hot 10. The render included in the listing confirms that Infinix Hot 10 will give continuity to the punch-hole cutout. Earlier, the Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro featured a circular out. The punch-hole is on the top left corner of the Hot 10.

There is an additional device with model number X657B, which will be launched as Hot 10 Lite. Realme Buds Air TWS unveiled in Nepal: Supports wear detection & wireless charging

0

Alongside the Realme X2, the company launched a new wireless earphone in India back in December 2019; that being none other than the Realme Buds Air. And now, it has landed the Nepalese market. Let’s find out more about the first TWS Buds Air from Realme along with its official price and availability in Nepal.

Realme Buds Air Overview

Realme Buds Air comes with a plastic case that supports fast charging. Furthermore, you’ll not face an unnecessary hassle when you use the earphones as they have an auto connection feature. This implies that, whenever you open the case, the earphones will seamlessly connect to your smartphone. Moreover, the support for Google Fast Pair protocol also assures instant connectivity.

Custom R1 Chip

For most, the major concern while using a wireless earphone is the sound lag. However, the Realme Buds Air has customized R1 chips in them. This ensures that there is super-low latency over Bluetooth 5.0. Furthermore, the added Gaming Mode also helps to decrease the sound lag to 119.3ms from 243.8ms under normal mode. Now that’s almost half of what other similar earphones offer.

Realme Buds Air - Instant Connection

Moving on, the earphone has two microphones. One of them is for calls and the other is for in-call noise cancellation. Also, there is a 12mm bass booster for clearer sound. As for sensors, this half-in ear earbud has an optical sensor that will pause your music automatically. Once you take them off your ears that is. Moreover, other controls include touch control for play/pause, voice assistant, answering calls, and many more.

Even though the device was officially sometime ago, we’re still in dark regarding the battery capacity of the earbuds themselves. The charging case, on the other hand, has a 400mAh battery. However, Realme did confirm that the Buds Air will have 3 hours’ endurance on a single charge; and a total of 17 hours total playback time with battery inside the case. As far as the colors are concerned, people can choose either black, white, or yellow buds.

Realme Buds Air Specifications:

  • Earphone Speaker Dimension: 12mm big bass driver
  • Chipset: Custom R1 chip
  • Weight: 4.2g (each earphone); 42.3gm (charging case)
  • Battery: 400mAh (Case)

Realme Buds Air Neo with 13mm drivers & a low-latency gaming mode launched in Nepal

0

Realme Nepal has launched a bunch of AIoT accessories today and among them, is the new Buds Air Neo. It is the company’s cheapest TWS earbuds to date. Let’s check out the specs, features, official price in Nepal, and availability of Realme Buds Air Neo.

Realme Buds Air Neo Overview

Realme Buds Air Neo is the latest wireless earbuds from Realme. Design-wise, it looks a lot like the Realme Buds Air, from last year. However, the new Buds Air Neo misses out on some of the features and is a cheaper alternative to its predecessor.

Design

If it weren’t for the color options, Realme Buds Air Neo would have been indistinguishable from Realme Buds Air. It is available in three colors – Green, Red, and White. There is nothing in the design that makes these earbuds stand out among other budget offerings in the market. Apple’s AirPods has inspired almost all of them. And it isn’t just the earbuds that I’m talking about; the charging case also resembles that of AirPods.

Driver and Connectivity

Realme Buds Air Neo features a custom R1 chipset. Furthermore, it has a larger driver than that of original Realme Buds. It comes with a 13mm driver with a bass boost. For connectivity, it supports dual-channel transmission over Bluetooth 5.0 technology.

Features

Realme has included a low latency mode for people who wish to use it for video streaming and gaming purposes. You can enter or exit the mode by pressing and holding on both earbuds. The low latency mode is said to reduce latency to 119.2ms which is about 51% less compared to the normal mode. It also has the instant auto-connection feature that allows the earbuds to connect to your smartphone automatically when you open the case.

Control

You can control the earbuds using the touch control provided. A double-tap on one of the earbuds will cause the music to play or pause. Similarly, you can also use it to answer any incoming calls. To end a call, simply press and hold on one side. Triple tap will let you skip the current song and move to the next one. You can even customize the controls using the Realme Link app.

Battery

While the exact capacity of the battery hasn’t been made official, Realme claims that battery on the new earbuds can last for 3 hours on a single charge and over 17 hours with the charging case.

Achilles Alert: Millions of Android users are vulnerable to hackers and spies

0

Qualcomm is the first choice of smartphone manufacturers for smartphone SoC, especially when it comes to flagships. Its Snapdragon chipsets are found in billions of smartphones. However, this popularity can be dangerous at times. Recently, researchers at Check Point have discovered over 400 bugs in Snapdragon chipsets that could make millions of Android phones at risk. Read along to know more about the defects in Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, that has been collectively named Achilles.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Achilles: What is it?

In case if you have not heard of them, Check Point is a company that provides Cyber Security solutions and products to different enterprises. It was able to discover the vulnerabilities during the security review of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets. The research was conducted as Snapdragon are the most common chipsets in the world, covering over 40% of the total phone released in 2019.

Check Point has termed its findings “Achilles”. The researchers were able to discover over 400 pieces of code that could have been misused by hackers and spies. These codes were part of Digital Signal Processors (DSP), which is an integral component of all SoCs. These types of security reviews are rare and it explains why so many vulnerabilities were discovered.

Risks Involved

So what could these codes be misused for? According to Check Point:

  • Attackers can get access to the phones’ photos, videos, call-recording, real-time microphone data, GPS and location data, turning phones to spying devices.
  • Not only can hackers get a hold of your data, but they can also shut down the operation of your phone. In technical terms, attackers can perform Denial Of Service (DoS) attacks on infected phones, making it useless for the owner.
  • Malware can use the code to hide and make their activities undetectable.

The Solution

Fixing the Achilles is tricky as DSPs, by nature are developed as Black Box. What it means is that the internal mechanism of these processors is hidden. Thus, smartphone manufacturers can’t do anything unless a solution is issued by the chip manufacturer. Fortunately, Qualcomm has already responded to the Achilles vulnerability pointed out by Check Point in the company’s Snapdragon lineup of smartphones.

We have no evidence it [Achilles] is currently being exploited.

The chip manufacturer has already issued Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure (CVE) to relevant smartphone manufacturers. However, this doesn’t solve anything unless the smartphone brands decide to roll out security patches and update to the affected smartphones. Software support is where Android smartphones lack behind their iOS counterpoint.

Updates are generally rare for devices other than flagships and roll out are slow and less frequent. We will have to wait to see how smartphone manufacturers respond to Achilles and CVEs. If they decide to roll out updates against Achilles, they will need some time. Smartphone brands will have to identify all the DSP applications, re-compile them, and test them for stability and further flaws before the updates are ready to air.

Gyapu starts selling laptops, smartphones and accessories

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the need and importance of online shopping platforms. In a time where all other services were suspended, e-commerce sites stepped up to provide relief to the general public. One such site was Gyapu. The e-commerce site sold online groceries during the nation-wide lockdown. Now, Gyapu has started selling laptops, smartphones, and accessories as well.

Gyapu Online Overview

Compared to other e-commerce platforms in the country, Gyapu is rather a new name. It is an online marketplace. That means, the company does not sell anything directly but provides a platform for stores to connect with their potential customers. Vendors list their products on Gypau, which users can order. It then delivers those products off the vendor to the customer’s doorstep. Customers can choose from a wide list of payment options, which include Cash on Delivery and payment through digital wallets like eSewa, Fonepay, Khalti, IMEPay, Prabhu pay, ConnectIPS and CellPay and cards (Visa and Mastercard).

It’s one of the ventures that gained momentum during the pandemic. During the lockdown, the platform was delivering groceries, fruits, and vegetables within the valley. The platform also conducted campaigns like 4 Days Babbal Sale and 4 Days Mega Sale afterward. The company has now expanded the portfolio of products offered. Users can purchase laptops, smartphones, and accessories via Gyapu.
