Vivo Z5 Specs confirmed before launch: Following the 2019 trend

0

Vivo’s Z-series of smartphones tend to be value for money beasts – looking by the international markets, at least. Of course, Vivo has no plans to launch its Z-series in Nepal. It is because the Z-series is, for now, an online-only lineup. And in the context of Nepal, well, those kinds of things don’t really work, do they? But still, we can look at these phones, can’t we? After Vivo’s Z1 Pro had us wanting more, Vivo’s soon-to-launch phone, the Vivo Z5 specs have leaked.

Vivo Z5 Overview

The Vivo Z5 is in its leak stages, currently. But it is kinda in its last stages, let’s say. Because we have most of the things about the phone there’s to know. Even its images leaked some time ago online.

For starters, the Vivo Z5 will run on the Snapdragon 712 processor. This processor is a slight improvement over the Snapdragon 710, about 10% of a performance boost. In addition, it features something called Multi-Turbo technology. This could be something to do with a Gaming Mode boost for the phones. There has been no mention of RAM or storage, however.

vivo z5 specs revealed

Furthermore, the Vivo Z5 features a Super AMOLED display with a tear-drop notch. But the size of the display is still in the dark. However, we do know that the display will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor on it. Also, the notch will house a 32 MP selfie camera.

Its images show a triple camera setup on the Vivo Z5. And yes, with the primary camera being a 48 MP shooter, it is following the present trends of mid-range smartphones like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Vivo V15 Pro, Oppo F11 Pro, etc. So, maybe it will be a good fit in the market. Other spec reveals include a 4500 mAh battery with a 22.5-Watt Fast Charging.

The Vivo Z5 will launch on July 31, which is very soon. So, we’ll know all about it on the day itself.

Daraz Launches Casio Watches Officially

Which was your first digital watch as a child? For me, it was Casio. And I’m sure it was the same for most of you. Back then, Casio was cheap, and it was very popular, too! But with so many entrants, Casio faded away as we grew up. But now, Daraz has launched Casio Watch Officially in their site.

Of course, Casio watches are no longer the highly affordable options they once were. Maybe, mostly, because they’re making premium looking tough watches now. And also, because as children, we were satisfied with the non-original products as well! But hey, if you want to dive into that childhood nostalgia now, you can get your hands on all kinds of Casio watches at Daraz.

casio watches nepal daraz

Casio is mostly known for the sporty-looking high-end watches. They’ve launched their Casio Edifice, G-Shock, Enticer, Sheen and Youth series in Nepal. The edifice is for those that look for a classy timepiece, whereas G-Shock is about that muscular look and adventure gear. And while the Enticer is somewhere between a classic timepiece and casual wear, the Youth targets the youngsters with their super casual looks. As for the Sheen, it’s for the ladies. Of course, the Enticer and Youth have women’s watches too.

So, they have like everything from your casuals to all the way best of the best! Casio watches can cost anywhere from sub Rs.1000 all the way up to Rs.40000, at least the ones in Nepal! It’s up to you to get what you want. But, they’re also providing some discounts to initiate the new product lineup launch as well.

Samsung Galaxy Fold re-lives: Relaunching this September

0

When the world’s most anticipated folding phone failed to deliver, many of us were disappointed! Because, well, the Future seemed fragile… The Samsung Galaxy Fold faced a number of problems upon initial reviews from various reviewers. Some were related to the lack of complete information, but most others were due to some bad design choices. And so, the company delayed the launch of the Galaxy Fold.

And after 69 days of delay, Samsung is set to release the phone once again. Of course, it was evident, but the last time we heard of it, it was in its test stages after the revamps. But now, the company made an official statement about its release.

samsung galaxy fold fixed

The Samsung Galaxy Fold went through quite a few fixes. First, the protective layer on top, that some reviewers mistook for a screen protector, now extends beyond the bezels so that it becomes an integral part of the phone. Second, the phone features some reinforcements to prevent debris from entering beneath the screen – which was another major issue of concern. Also, they added further reinforcements under the display to make the plastic display more rigid. In addition to that, the phone also has protection caps on the top and bottom of the hinge. This not only strengthens the hinges but also closes the air gap between the body and the hinge.

After all of this, the phone is in its final quality control tests. And for a price of $1980, I say there have to be tons of tests. Anyways, the phone will re-launch this September. And let’s see if the re-incarnated Galaxy Fold will stand strong or “fold” again…

Intel Ice Lake i7-1065G7 edges out 3900X in single core Geekbench score

0

Intel’s 9th gen CPUs haven’t even settled down yet. But, that’s not stopping the company to come out with another gen of CPUs. Their 10th Gen Ice Lake CPUs are set to hit the market soon. And as the tradition goes, a few benchmark leaks are in order. Today we have just that – with the new Core i7-1065G7 flexing its unprecedented single-core performance. When was the last time you saw a 15-Watt CPU take on a 105-Watt processor? To make matters even more interesting, the single-core benchmark for this 15W Ice Lake chip rivaled the likes of AMD’s Ryzen 9 3900X.

Intel Core i7-1065G7

Obviously, I am overexaggerating, but it really goes off to show Intel’s single-core dominance over AMD. The Ice Lake 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7 here sports a 15W TDP with a 4 core 8 thread setup boasting a 1.5Ghz base and 3.9Ghz boost. It also gets the Gen 11 GT2 Iris Plus Graphics G7 graphics chip inbuilt, thus the G7 suffix. The benchmark score comes from the HP Spectre x360 convertible laptop sporting the said CPU.

Ice Lake Performance Chart (Intel Core i7-1065G7)

To be fair, the 3900X’s single-core score wasn’t all that impressive. Intel’s 8th-gen Core i7-8700K boasted 5894 against the 3900X’s 5620 points. The headliner i7-1065G7 managed 5691 points, a slight lead over AMD’s greatest while lagging behind its own overclockable sibling. That too at half the base clock speed, a mere 20% of the TDP and on a mobile platform no less.

Plus this puts more credibility onto Intel’s philosophy of prioritizing performance over form factor. Honestly, do people even need Threadripper? And has the 7nm process helped AMD? This also stands as an answer to their highly criticized decision to push back their 7nm die size for 2021. But do take all this with a pinch of salt. The Ice Lake CPUs are nearing their launch dates and can expect to see a much clearer picture then.

Black Shark 2 Pro: The Shark just got fiercer!

Xiaomi‘s gaming-focused smartphone brand, Black Shark, is going to announce a refreshed model to its second-generation smartphone. Xiaomi has already decided to launch this device on July 30 in China. And looks like the phone will aptly be called the Black Shark 2 Pro. The latest teaser was posted on Weibo by the company and only offers the rear design of the upcoming phone.

However, we still have some information, although indeterminate, about how the phone will be. These are just some rumors, and guesses, on what the phone might be like once it is out.

Overview

At first glance, the outer shape and design look identical to the current Black Shark 2; except for the two vertical lines. We can, however, theorize the new customizable LED bars are moved to the edges. Also, the RGB ‘S’ logo on the rear of the Black Shark 2 seems missing in this model.

The updated phone will be powered by the refreshed Snapdragon 855+ chipset alongside 12GB of RAM. Since the Snapdragon 855+ is designed for gaming smartphones, let’s see how much difference will this one make. Also, the phone will run on Android Pie which adds to smooth gaming experience for the phone-gamers.

We are yet to be sure about the phone’s other resources; but, according to some reports, the most probable features and specs are already out.

Black Shark 2 Pro Specifications:

  • Display: 6.39″ AMOLED, Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels),
  • Rear Camera: 48MP + 12MP
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus
  • CPU: Octa-core (1×2.96 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 485)
  • GPU: Adreno 640 @700 MHz
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • Storage: 256GB(Expandable)
  • Software: Android 9 Pie
  • Battery:  4,100mAh battery
  • Sensors: Fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass

These are the most probable specs for the phone. However, it may vary for good when the phone is officially released on July 30. It seems like we won’t have to wait for long to see what this phone brings to the table.

Apple set to buy Intel’s 5G modem business for $1 billion

It’s only been a few months since Apple and Qualcomm settled after a long drawn legal disputes. As a result, the new iPhones will be using Qualcomm’s modem. However, it seems that still, all is not well between the two tech giants. Reportedly, Apple has set its eyes on buying Intel’s now abandoned 5G modem business for an astounding price of $1 billion.

Back in April, Intel made it clear that the reason for their exit from the modem business was the agreement between Apple and Qualcomm. Prior to the settlement, Intel was the sole third-party modem supplier for Apple’s 2018 model of iPhones. Furthermore, it was a known fact that for many years, the only major buyer of Intel’s modem was Apple.  However, the surprise agreement between Apple and Qualcomm rocked Intel’s modem business. Thus they had to abandon it and were immediately in search of potential buyers.

Apple aiming to buy Intel’s modem business actually makes a lot of sense. The company has struggled with 5G this year however it does not want to lose its grip on the market. Developing a new chip from scratch will require extensive spending on R&D and also will take too much time. So, a better alternative for them is to buy Intel’s modem business which has already made headways in the 5G sector.

The deal, it seems, is already on the verge of being finalized. The deal covers a portfolio of patents, engineers and tech all valued at a combined total of $1 billion. By acquiring Intel’s this portion of the business, Apple will add Intel’s portfolio and experience to the development of its in-house modems.

This deal will mean Apple becoming less reliant on third-party for modems. Though Qualcomm will still remain its exclusive supplier of modems.

However, the deal’s still not done and dusted. But hopefully, at some point in the future, we’ll see apple operating independently of any other company for its modems.

Red Hydrogen Two in the making – Will be better this time?

0

RED, a.ka. Red Digital Cinema is a big name when it comes to digital cinematography camera manufacturers. Their cameras are nothing short of state-of-the-art. And when such a company is coming up with a camera-centric phone, you go nuts over it! Well, at least, that was the presumption when the Red Hydrogen One came out. But that turned out to be a disappointment. A lot of things went wrong…and it looked like we wouldn’t see another one. But, apparently, there’s a Red Hydrogen Two in the making!

This comes as a post on the H4Vuser.net website. That is a dedicated forum for the Red cameras or the Hydrogen phones. And in that post, founder Jim Jannard has tried to explain why things went wrong with the Hydrogen One and how there’s going to be a Hydrogen Two.

red hydrogen one
Red Hydrogen One

Apparently, it was a Chinese company, an ODM, that significantly underperformed. And made the Hydrogen One’s issues impossible to fix. And yes, there were issues with that one. Despite being a modular phone with high camera powers and something called the 3D Holographic Display, it had less usage. In addition, it cost $1300 when it first came out…and there were some other issues as well. Furthermore, they didn’t deliver a camera module that was supposed to be launched for the Hydrogen One.

However, according to Jannards, that will change. He claims that the Red Hydrogen Two will be built from scratch. Also, they’re working on the promised cinematography camera module. And it will work on the Hydrogen One as well. Also, there are assurances that the new ODM is capable of delivering to the expectations. But, with a past like that, I doubt anyone has many expectations from them now.

And since there is no other information about the phone or when the phone is going to come out, all of this…I will take with a grain of salt.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ Specs leaked in Full!

0

Internet and rumors – I doubt there is a better love story than this. These two are inseparable. People say you should not believe everything you read on the internet! But then again, when it comes to leaks and such for the top-notch tech, we can’t resist ourselves. And well, today, the rumor mill brings us the exciting new updates about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10! Also, it’s set to launch soon – August 7 or August 8, depending upon which part of the world you live in. So, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series will be an exciting addition to the note ecosystem.

The Galaxy Note 10 will come in three versions; Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy Note 10 5G. All the aforementioned devices will launch in the Galaxy Unpacked event.

Although there are still some days left for the official launch, rumors about the device are all over the internet. Actually, they were there from quite a while ago…Famous leakster, Evan Bass (@evleakes), shared some info about what the new Galaxy Note devices will feature.

Note 10 and 10+ Overview

samsung galaxy note 10 and 10+

According to his information, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a 6.3″ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. It will be available in an 8GB/256GB variant only. The battery on this device will be of 3600 mAh. This information, however, contradicts the previous rumors that were making rounds on the internet. Previously, it was rumored that the devices’ battery capacity will be 3500 mAh only. So, the new rumors come as good news for potential Note 10 owners. Nevertheless, that’s still a smaller size than what we saw on the Galaxy Note 9!

Furthermore, he claims that the Note 10 will run on the recently released Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 +. However, another famous leakster, @onleaks, refutes this claim. No official word about the use of this chipset has been released, thus the phone will probably feature the Exynos 9825 SoC in most markets. And to me, this one makes more sense as well.

In addition, the Galaxy Note 10 will have a triple camera setup – 12MP wide, a 16MP ultra-wide and a 12MP telephoto. Also, the punch hole upfront will feature a 10MP dual-pixel selfie camera. The rear cameras are capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps whereas the front camera can shoot 4K video at 30fps.

As for the Note 10+, this device will have a similar Infinity-O AMOLED display. However, the screen size is larger 6.8″. Most of the features such as the chipset, glass body, security system, and OS are similar to that of Note 10. Noticeable differences can be seen in the battery size which is set to be of 4300 mAh and an additional ToF lens for depth data. The detailed specifications of both devices are given below:

Redmi coming up with the first 64 MP camera phone!

Xiaomi backed Redmi, is ushering the entire phone photography scenario into the next realm. With the first-ever smartphone with a 64MP camera, Redmi is certainly is upping the stakes! And this comes after their another flagship-killer device, the Redmi K20 Pro! So, Redmi, certainly, is on its way somewhere…

Historically, any Redmi phone launch precedes tons of leaks and teasers; and it appears the brand has just kick-started the 64MP Redmi phone teasers. The Chinese firm first revealed that it had such a device in works recently. And now, we have some solid information about it.

redmi 64mp camera phone poster

Redmi recently released a teaser poster that reveals its Quad-camera setup. Of the four cameras, the main camera will be a 64 MP sensor. Sadly, no more details were shared about the camera, except that it will be the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 64MP sensor. Of course, the company didn’t reveal the sensor officially. It is only in rumors.

But what the post revealed was that a single image will be of 9248 x 6936 pixels in resolution! That’s around 20MB in size! To add to this, the resolution could also go well above 8K resolution, making it the highest for any smartphone ever. They also released a camera sample as well.

The sensor comes with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and Remosaic Algorithm; offering 16MP images in a low-light environment. This algorithm merges four pixels to work as one to increase light sensitivity.

The exact name or even render of the camera isn’t out in the open yet. However, Redmi has asked the fans to guess the likely name of the upcoming device. The company will be giving away the Mi Band 4 NFC Version to the first 10 winners.

However, we have yet to see if it is just a marketing gimmick, or will the phone really be as promised. But, the company certainly has the fans anticipating the phone. Let’s hope we get more leaks and information about the camera as well as the phone in the near future. Till then, all we can do is guess the probable name for the phone.

Zhiyun launches Crane M2: A multi device supporting compact gimbal

Compact, affordable and compatible. These are the qualities that best describe the new Zhiyun Crane M2. Chinese manufacturers, Zhiyun, has made a name for itself when it comes to handheld gimbals. The company offers a wide range of quality gimbals and this new addition, without a doubt, will further boost their image.

Zhiyun Crane M2 Overview

Weighing around 500g with a dimension of 267 x 169 x 138nm, the Zhiyun Crane M2 comes in a much smaller size as compared to its competitors. However, the compact size does not equal a compromise in its capabilities. With a maximum payload of 720g, the device is capable of carrying compact cameras, light mirrorless camera, mobile phones and many more.

Zhiyun Crane M2 gimbal

However, using the gimbal with different devices requires dedicated accessories for each. The device comes with a quick-release plate making it easier to mount and remove devices from the stabilizer. Furthermore, enhanced Wifi and Bluetooth control allow better camera control. The ZY Play app is required to pair your camera to the gimbal. Besides the usual wireless control of camera and gimbal, the ZY app allows users to capture a panorama, slow-mo and timelapse easily.

A bright OLED display panel informs the users about the Wifi and Bluetooth status along with other information. Though the battery is not specified, it claims to offer a 7-hour battery life.

From what it seems, the Zhiyun Crane M2 is all set to compete with Ronon-SC, which is the miniature version of Ronin-S. The compact gimbal designed by DJI claimed to deliver hugely but ultimately failed. The major complaint that most people had with the Ronon-SC was that it was too small to work with. Once mounted, the cameras tended to bump against the rear motors.

In contrast, the Zhiyun Crane M2 doesn’t even try to go there. It’s basically just suited for small setups. The device is now available for pre-order at $270.
