ENCO Q1: OPPO announces its first noise-cancelling wireless headphones

Last month, OPPO trademarked the OPPO ENCO series. Many speculated that this would probably be a new smartphone lineup from the company. However, OPPO today laid rest to all the speculation surrounding this. Rather than a smartphone lineup, the ENCO series will be OPPO’s first noise-canceling wireless headphones. And OPPO ENCO Q1 is going to be the first device in this series.

The ENCO Q1 has a 3D neckband design. It is thick at the end and thin around the center. It is made from a single piece that is designed to go around your neck. The one-piece design means that it does not have any splits or cuts.

Talking about its noise cancellation system, the headphone will feature Active Noise Cancellation with 4 Mics. So, basically, it will use a hybrid noise cancellation that has both a feedforward and feedback ANC. Among the previously mentioned 4 Mics, two of them will be on the outside. Their task will be to listen to ambient noise and feed that into the system. This is a feedforward process that sends a signal to the speakers by extracting ambient noise.

Furthermore, the headphone has two mics on the inside. They are tasked with listening to noise within your ear. They will help to cancel out noise that could be induced due to the shape inconsistencies of different ears. Additionally, for the acoustical signal reduction, there’s a filter.

The OPPO ENCO Q1 will come in three different colors. Sunshine Orange, Polar Night Black, and Star Silver. However, this the extent of our knowledge regarding the ENCO Q1. Furthermore, the official OPPO website is yet to list the headphones. The announcement today just gave us a sneak-peak about what the ENCO series really is. The launch of this headphone is speculated to be alongside the launch of OPPO Reno 2.

The headset’s price is not yet known. However, I think that it will be one of the premium offerings from the company. High-end headphones and amplifiers were what OPPO previously renowned for. So, I guess with this series the company is trying to head back to its roots. But these are all speculations, isn’t it? We’ll have to wait and see what this device actually has to offer.

Battery capacities revealed for Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro

0

There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the release of Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. October usually marks the launch of the new Mate devices. However, this year things are set to take a different turn. The announcement made at the Huawei’s Developer Conference suggested that the Mate 30 series will probably release sometime around September.

Well, whenever the release date may be, the rumors about the device’s specs are already generating a lot of buzz in the tech world. A phone in the new Mate series will also feature Huawei’s new HarmonyOS. The internet of things (IoT) is what this new OS primarily focuses on.

However, the new OS is not the only thing that’s been generating so much buzz around the device. In fact, the batteries on Mate30 and Mate 30 pro too are seemingly on course to break some records. Per reports, the devices will support 25W wireless charging. And in addition to that, they will support 55W wired charging. If this is true, then they both will be the fastest in their respective category. Now that’s two records at once.

So, their charging capacity is great. But what about the actual battery capacity? Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro’s probable battery has come up on a new report on China’s Weibo. If the post is true, then Mate 30 should have a 4,200mAh battery whereas Mate 30 Pro will have a 4,500mAh battery. However, these are just rumors, so better take them with a pinch of salt.

This rumored battery in the Mate 30 series means that there will be a significant improvement in the battery capacity of the devices. Compared to Mate 20, Mate 30 should ha a 5% increase in capacity. Similarly, Mate 30Pro will have a 7% increase in battery capacity as compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, the devices will probably use the Kirin 990 chipset. They are rumored to be built on a very efficient process. Thus, the should theoretically improve battery life as compared to the previous Mate series.

Motorola One Action unveiled; days numbered for action cams?

0

Cameras in smartphones are developing at a rapid rate. Dual, triple and now Quad. Who knew that many cameras could be added into a single smartphone? However, one thing that smartphones till now have not been able to properly integrate is the action cams.

Lens capable of capturing action-packed clips. This is what generally characterizes an Action Cam. They have wide-angle lenses and can record 60fps videos. They probably fall into the 1% of digital camera categories that have not yet been dethroned by smartphone cameras. However, this might change real soon. Because Motorola has recently unveiled the Motorola One Action.

motorola one action price nepal design display

The device gets its name from the action camera that is integrated on its backside. It has an ultra-wide-angle lens that provides 117-degree FOV and can capture videos at 1080p/60. The camera is capable of 4-in-1 pixel binning. This it owns to the 16MP sensor that it uses. The 4-in-1 pixel binning helps to improve low light image quality and also helps in image stabilization. The interesting fact about the action cam is that it shoots landscape video when held vertically. This feature will certainly make it easier to mount the device in automobiles.

However, the action cam cannot shoot still images. For that purpose, the phone uses its 12MP primary camera and a 5MP depth sensor. The primary lens is still capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. Furthermore, the device has a 6.3” IPS LCD display and features a punch-hole design. The punch hole houses its 12MP selfie shooter.

The device is a part of the Android One program and features the Android 9.0 Pie as its OS. Exynos 9609 chipset powers the device. And it comes with 4GB of RAM. The onboard storage is of 128GB. However, it can be expanded as there is a dedicated microSD slot. Unlike other currently available smartphones, the Motorola One Action does feature a headphone jack. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack on top and a loudspeaker on the bottom rim. Moreover, a 3500mAh non-removable battery powers this device.

New Xiaomi devices on 3C listing. Could it be the Redmi Note 8?

Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 pro garnered a huge fan base. Great specs coupled with an affordable price. What more does a user want right? Well, a new report has emerged online that might excite the Redmi fanbase. We’ve known for quite a while that Redmi is working on the Redmi Note 8 series. The emergence of two new Xiaomi devices on 3C authority has led to many speculating that one of them might just be the Redmi Note 8.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 specs

One of the listed Xiaomi smartphone to be certified by China’s 3C authority comes with MDY-09-EK charger. It means that the phone with M1908C3IE and M1908C3IC variants supports only a 10W charging. Considering the fact that the Redmi Note 7 itself supported an 18W charging, we can safely say that this model is not the Redmi Note 8.

Also Read: Xiaomi Mobiles Price in Nepal

However, the other device with variants, M1906G7E and M1906G7T comes with an MDY-10-EC charger. Meaning, it supports up to 18W rapid charging. This feature of this device in the listing has sprung rumors claiming that this might just be the Redmi Note 8. Although, there’s a possibility that none of these devices is the Note 8. And they both belong to a completely different series. Thus it would be wise to wait for an official announcement from Xiaomi.

The constant rumors surrounding the Redmi Note 8 suggests that it will be the first Redmi phone with a 64MP quad-camera setup. It might still have a waterdrop notch on the front similar to its predecessor. Furthermore, the fingerprint sensor might be an in-display or a side-mounted one. Also, Redmi has previously teased a gaming smartphone using MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. So, there’s also a possibility that the tease might have been some sort of reference to the Redmi Note 8.

Once released, the Redmi Note 8 will certainly receive stiff competition from Realme 5 and Realme 5 pro. Additionally, Realme is also expected to launch a 64MP camera smartphone by October. The phone will probably be the new Realme X Pro. To compete with it, Redmi is working on an upgraded version of Redmi K20 Pro. So, there’s a lot to come from Redmi. Thus, the rumors on the internet might be about any one of the Redmi phones. What I’m trying to say with all this is that the rumors at the end of the day are just rumor. Take them with a grain of salt. And wait for an official confirmation before believing anything completely.

Key specs for Samsung Galaxy M21, M31 and M41 leaked: Likely to launch in 2020

0

The M series from Samsung resulted in decent sales numbers in 2019. The Galaxy M20, M30, and M40 were probably its bestselling smartphones this year. The great thing about those devices was their competitive pricing and great hardware specs. So, it is not surprising that Samsung has planned for its successors. Their successors, the Galaxy M21, M31, and M41 are expected to release in the first quarter of 2020. However, the rumors about their specifications are already making rounds on the internet.

Samsung Galaxy M21 Specifications

Similar to the Galaxy M20, the M21 will be powered by an Exynos processor. However, the one in M21 is going to be an Exynos 9609 SoC whereas the M20 uses Exynos 7904 SoC. The details about the higher-spec variants are yet to arrive. However, we know that the base model will have 4GB of RAM. The rear camera is still a dual-camera setup. It will comprise of 24MP primary plus a 5MP depth sensor. This is a slight upgrade from its predecessor which sported a 13MP primary camera along with a 5MP depth sensor.

Galaxy M31 Specifications

The Galaxy M31 will be the successor to the Galaxy M30. It will run on Snapdragon 665 processor and the base variant will have 6GB of RAM. Comparing it with the Exynos 7904 SoC on M30, a clear upgrade is seen in the use of the processor. Furthermore, the rear camera will be a triple camera array with a 48MP primary lens. Along with that, it will have a 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 5MP depth sensor. However, there is no clear indication of the sensor in M31. Some claim it will go with the Sony IMX586 sensor whereas others say that it will probably use 48MP ISOCELL GM1 sensor.

Samsung Galaxy M41 Specifications

It is being claimed that the Galaxy M41 will be powered by the new Exynos 9630 processor. M41 will be the successor to the Galaxy M40 which is powered by Snapdragon 675 chipset. So, there’s a hint of a slight upgrade in processor among the two phones. Furthermore, the device is set to have a triple camera setup on the back. The primary lens will probably be of 64MP coupled with a 12MP wide-angle lens and a 5MP depth sensor.

Although the rumors about these phones are spreading like a wildfire on the internet, in the end, they are only rumors. So, take this news with a pinch of salt as an official announcement from Samsung is yet to come. There’s still a lot of time left for the release of the phone so I’m certain that we’ll soon hear concrete information about these devices in the near future.

Oppo Reno 2 with 20x zoom expected to launch on August 28

0

4 months! That’s how long it took for Oppo to announce its successor to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom. Oppo Reno 2 will be the new addition to the Reno series. And it is expected to launch on August 28 in India. Now that’s interesting. Because its predecessor was first launched in China. However, the popularity of the phone in India might have played a part in this case.

Oppo Reno 2 Overview

Rumors suggest that the device will have a 6.43” AMOLED display similar to its predecessor. the AMOLD display suggests that the device could have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, the device reportedly comes with a VOOC 3.0 support and 5G connectivity support. The VOOC 3.0 support means that the device will come with a 20W VOOC fast charging.

oppo reno 2 20x zoom

Additionally, there will be a quad-camera setup on its back. This is an upgrade considering the fact that its predecessor had a triple camera setup. Now, with a four-camera array on the back, it can be speculated that the primary one will be of 48MP. Furthermore, it will probably have an 8MP wide-angle sensor, a 13MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP monochrome sensor. To top it all up, the device will feature a 20x Hybrid Zoom. And the smartphone can be the very first kind to have such a notable feature.

Furthermore, the inclusion of network-optimized AI noise reduction will improve photo quality. There’s this software dynamic exposure adjustment feature too. It secures optimal picture brightness so that users can view objects clearly during night time. Also, the introduction of Ultra Dark Mode feature allows ultra-clear night shot. Moreover, the device is reportedly capable of capturing action camera like videos through the Ultra Steady Video feature.

With the expected launch date being August 28, we’re certain that further rumors will surface soon. But until then all we can do about the phone is speculate, isn’t it?

Realme 5 Pro and Realme 5 show themselves

0

Realme is, undoubtedly, one of the uprising brands currently. Comparatively, it hasn’t been around for very long, but the popularity it enjoys is quite amazing. The Realme 2 Pro was a successful phone, which was followed by the Realme 3 Pro. Also, there’s this another mid-ranger called the Realme X. And we already have rumors about the next generation of Realme flagships. The Chinese brand, skipped the Realme 4, as ‘4’ is not a ‘lucky’ number in the Chinese tradition. So, we now have the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro, which are about to launch soon.

However, some key specs are out and about before the actual launch, as usual. First, is the confirmation about both phones packing a Quad-camera setup. But that was already in the air. Then again, there were also rumors about the Realme 5 packing the 64 MP camera sensor. However, it seems it wasn’t to be. Instead, the Realme 5 Pro will pack a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor – the ones seen on the likes of OnePlus 7 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro.

realme 5 pro price

The specs come from the promo images on Flipkart, the online web-store. According to that, both phones come with a huge 5000 mAh battery. But only the Pro variant will have the VOOC 3.0 Fast Charging. And of course, sticking to the latest trends, the phones will have a water-drop notch display.

Also, according to Geekbench listings, the processor in power here seems to the Snapdragon 665, the same chipset on the Xiaomi Mi A3. It is relatively new, but not as popular. In addition, the design of these phones seems to resemble the Realme 3i, the one with the diamond-cut design. And their Indian prices are also confirmed as well.

Besides that, we have no further leaks. But it seems Realme’s rumored 64 MP camera phone will be an entirely new one though. So, we can only speculate until further specs reveal.

DJI Osmo Mobile 3: A fully versatile Mobile Gimbal

0

DJI seems to be taking the market by storm. With one great device after another, DJI’s even moving into the action camera territory. Their DJI Osmo Action was a legit competitor to the GoPro, even if it was their first action camera! But DJI is mostly known for drones and gimbals, though. And their latest mobile gimbal, the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 makes a great case for itself.

DJI Osmo Mobile 3 Overview

DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is the 3rd generation of its handheld smartphone stabilizers. This one comes as an improvement over the DJI Osmo Mobile 2, and with some handy extra features. The first of which, is that the Osmo Mobile 3 can fold into half, for easier packaging.

Even in terms of aesthetics, the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 is more compact. It’s shorter and smaller than its predecessors. This makes it easier to carry for longer periods of time. But even though it is smaller, it doesn’t compromise on the features. It packs all the features of the Osmo Mobile 2 and more.

dji osmo mobile 3

Starting from the design, its design makes it possible to access the ports to charge the phone or hook an external microphone, which was a bit of a hassle on the Osmo Mobile 2. The Active Track feature, DJI’s computer vision tracking system is also there on this one, to help you capture moving targets. In addition, it adds options like Timelapse, Hyperlapse, Panorama, Gesture Control, and a Story Mode. The Story Mode is a new feature that automatically edits footages, handy for beginners. It lets you apply a template of your choice and turn the video into an edited short clip with music and everything. However, for all of this, you have to use the DJI Mimo app.

DJI also says that most of the improvements come from users’ feedbacks and complaints. And due to users’ complaints, DJI has brought the smart switch feature here. This means that you can now quickly switch the smartphone’s orientation from portrait to landscape (or vice versa). You just have to tap the “Mode” button three times, and it will rotate itself.

And even though the gimbal is smaller, the battery life is the same 15 hours, which is good enough. And this time, charging takes place via USB-C.

This DJI Osmo Mobile 3 costs $119 and is available on DJI’s official web-store. Also, for $20 more, you can get the tripod as well.

HTC Wildfire X: A not-so-HTC phone making a comeback

0

HTC is a phone brand that’s struggling. And while it was one of the much-revered phone brand ones, the glory lies in the past now. Its present is flailing and the future seems uncertain. And with its last 2 products, it wasn’t impressing anyone. And so, HTC also walked out of the Indian market. Or…so we thought. Because, HTC is back, in India, with the HTC Wildfire X, but with some “conditions”

Overview

First off, it’s not only HTC that’s making a comeback into the Indian market – it’s also the Wildfire brand. With the new phone, the Wildfire has come back after 8 years. But there are some peculiarities. The HTC Wildfire X isn’t entirely HTC! It’s actually manufactured by a Chinese company, called InOne Smart Technology.

Anyways, the HTC Wildfire X is not as exciting of a product, though. It’s actually a budget device, but with some good modern features, for instance, it’s triple camera setup that consists of a 12 MP primary camera, 8 MP telephoto, and a 5 MP depth sensor. Of course, it’s not the first budget phone to sport triple cameras, but at least, it’s nice to see HTC catching up to the trend. Also, it comes with a tear-drop notch upfront which houses an 8 MP selfie camera.

htc wildfire x price india

The display is a 6.2″ HD+ display, and given the budget specs, HD+ seems plausible. But it does have a good screen-to-body ratio, suitable for a phone of 2019.

Inside, the phone is powered by the Helio P22 chipset, and there are two RAM configurations. There’s a 3 GB / 32 GB model and a 4 GB / 128 GB. In addition, there’s a microSD card slot which enables you to expand the storage to 256 GB. If you ask me, the 4 GB sounds like a better deal due to the storage.

Besides that, the phone packs a 3300 mAh battery. But, one good feature about this phone is its “MyBuddy” feature. It makes for a cell phone tracker. But more than that, it’s a distress companion that can trigger loud alarms in a dangerous situation, along with sharing your location with family and friends in real-time.

HTC Wildfire X Specifications:

  • Display: 6.2″ IPS LCD with HD+ resolution (720 x 1520 pixels), 19:9 aspect ratio
  • Rear Camera: Triple, 12 MP primary + 8 MP telephoto (2X) + 5 MP depth sensor
  • Front Camera: Single, 8 MP
  • Processor: MediaTek Helio P22
  • CPU: Octa-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53
  • GPU: PowerVR GE8320
  • RAM: 3 GB / 4 GB
  • Storage: 32 GB / 128 GB
  • OS: Android 9.0 Pie
  • Sensors: Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity
  • Battery: 3300 mAh, 10-Watt charging

Price and Availability

The phone is only available in a single color – Sapphire Blue and only launched in India right now. The phone is priced at INR.10,999 (~$155) for the base variant and INR.13,999 (~$195) for the 128 GB model. Buyers will be able to buy one from Flipkart starting August 22. But for the price, the Realme 3 is a much better deal!
