Red Hydrogen Two in the making – Will be better this time?

0

RED, a.ka. Red Digital Cinema is a big name when it comes to digital cinematography camera manufacturers. Their cameras are nothing short of state-of-the-art. And when such a company is coming up with a camera-centric phone, you go nuts over it! Well, at least, that was the presumption when the Red Hydrogen One came out. But that turned out to be a disappointment. A lot of things went wrong…and it looked like we wouldn’t see another one. But, apparently, there’s a Red Hydrogen Two in the making!

This comes as a post on the H4Vuser.net website. That is a dedicated forum for the Red cameras or the Hydrogen phones. And in that post, founder Jim Jannard has tried to explain why things went wrong with the Hydrogen One and how there’s going to be a Hydrogen Two.

Red Hydrogen One

Apparently, it was a Chinese company, an ODM, that significantly underperformed. And made the Hydrogen One’s issues impossible to fix. And yes, there were issues with that one. Despite being a modular phone with high camera powers and something called the 3D Holographic Display, it had less usage. In addition, it cost $1300 when it first came out…and there were some other issues as well. Furthermore, they didn’t deliver a camera module that was supposed to be launched for the Hydrogen One.

However, according to Jannards, that will change. He claims that the Red Hydrogen Two will be built from scratch. Also, they’re working on the promised cinematography camera module. And it will work on the Hydrogen One as well. Also, there are assurances that the new ODM is capable of delivering to the expectations. But, with a past like that, I doubt anyone has many expectations from them now.

And since there is no other information about the phone or when the phone is going to come out, all of this…I will take with a grain of salt.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ Specs leaked in Full!

Internet and rumors – I doubt there is a better love story than this. These two are inseparable. People say you should not believe everything you read on the internet! But then again, when it comes to leaks and such for the top-notch tech, we can’t resist ourselves. And well, today, the rumor mill brings us the exciting new updates about Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10! Also, it’s set to launch soon – August 7 or August 8, depending upon which part of the world you live in. So, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series will be an exciting addition to the note ecosystem.

The Galaxy Note 10 will come in three versions; Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy Note 10 5G. All the aforementioned devices will launch in the Galaxy Unpacked event.

Although there are still some days left for the official launch, rumors about the device are all over the internet. Actually, they were there from quite a while ago…Famous leakster, Evan Bass (@evleakes), shared some info about what the new Galaxy Note devices will feature.

Note 10 and 10+ Overview

samsung galaxy note 10 and 10+

According to his information, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a 6.3″ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. It will be available in an 8GB/256GB variant only. The battery on this device will be of 3600 mAh. This information, however, contradicts the previous rumors that were making rounds on the internet. Previously, it was rumored that the devices’ battery capacity will be 3500 mAh only. So, the new rumors come as good news for potential Note 10 owners. Nevertheless, that’s still a smaller size than what we saw on the Galaxy Note 9!

Furthermore, he claims that the Note 10 will run on the recently released Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 +. However, another famous leakster, @onleaks, refutes this claim. No official word about the use of this chipset has been released, thus the phone will probably feature the Exynos 9825 SoC in most markets. And to me, this one makes more sense as well.

In addition, the Galaxy Note 10 will have a triple camera setup – 12MP wide, a 16MP ultra-wide and a 12MP telephoto. Also, the punch hole upfront will feature a 10MP dual-pixel selfie camera. The rear cameras are capable of shooting 4K videos at 60fps whereas the front camera can shoot 4K video at 30fps.

As for the Note 10+, this device will have a similar Infinity-O AMOLED display. However, the screen size is larger 6.8″. Most of the features such as the chipset, glass body, security system, and OS are similar to that of Note 10. Noticeable differences can be seen in the battery size which is set to be of 4300 mAh and an additional ToF lens for depth data. The detailed specifications of both devices are given below:

So, what do you think of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 devices? Do they still pack enough excitement for you?

Redmi coming up with the first 64 MP camera phone!

Xiaomi backed Redmi, is ushering the entire phone photography scenario into the next realm. With the first-ever smartphone with a 64MP camera, Redmi is certainly is upping the stakes! And this comes after their another flagship-killer device, the Redmi K20 Pro! So, Redmi, certainly, is on its way somewhere…

Historically, any Redmi phone launch precedes tons of leaks and teasers; and it appears the brand has just kick-started the 64MP Redmi phone teasers. The Chinese firm first revealed that it had such a device in works recently. And now, we have some solid information about it.

redmi 64mp camera phone poster

Redmi recently released a teaser poster that reveals its Quad-camera setup. Of the four cameras, the main camera will be a 64 MP sensor. Sadly, no more details were shared about the camera, except that it will be the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 64MP sensor. Of course, the company didn’t reveal the sensor officially. It is only in rumors.

But what the post revealed was that a single image will be of 9248 x 6936 pixels in resolution! That’s around 20MB in size! To add to this, the resolution could also go well above 8K resolution, making it the highest for any smartphone ever. They also released a camera sample as well.

The sensor comes with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and Remosaic Algorithm; offering 16MP images in a low-light environment. This algorithm merges four pixels to work as one to increase light sensitivity.

The exact name or even render of the camera isn’t out in the open yet. However, Redmi has asked the fans to guess the likely name of the upcoming device. The company will be giving away the Mi Band 4 NFC Version to the first 10 winners.

However, we have yet to see if it is just a marketing gimmick, or will the phone really be as promised. But, the company certainly has the fans anticipating the phone. Let’s hope we get more leaks and information about the camera as well as the phone in the near future. Till then, all we can do is guess the probable name for the phone.

Zhiyun launches Crane M2: A multi device supporting compact gimbal

Compact, affordable and compatible. These are the qualities that best describe the new Zhiyun Crane M2. Chinese manufacturers, Zhiyun, has made a name for itself when it comes to handheld gimbals. The company offers a wide range of quality gimbals and this new addition, without a doubt, will further boost their image.

Zhiyun Crane M2 Overview

Weighing around 500g with a dimension of 267 x 169 x 138nm, the Zhiyun Crane M2 comes in a much smaller size as compared to its competitors. However, the compact size does not equal a compromise in its capabilities. With a maximum payload of 720g, the device is capable of carrying compact cameras, light mirrorless camera, mobile phones and many more.

Zhiyun Crane M2 gimbal

However, using the gimbal with different devices requires dedicated accessories for each. The device comes with a quick-release plate making it easier to mount and remove devices from the stabilizer. Furthermore, enhanced Wifi and Bluetooth control allow better camera control. The ZY Play app is required to pair your camera to the gimbal. Besides the usual wireless control of camera and gimbal, the ZY app allows users to capture a panorama, slow-mo and timelapse easily.

A bright OLED display panel informs the users about the Wifi and Bluetooth status along with other information. Though the battery is not specified, it claims to offer a 7-hour battery life.

From what it seems, the Zhiyun Crane M2 is all set to compete with Ronon-SC, which is the miniature version of Ronin-S. The compact gimbal designed by DJI claimed to deliver hugely but ultimately failed. The major complaint that most people had with the Ronon-SC was that it was too small to work with. Once mounted, the cameras tended to bump against the rear motors.

In contrast, the Zhiyun Crane M2 doesn’t even try to go there. It’s basically just suited for small setups. The device is now available for pre-order at $270.

Samsung Galaxy A70 update: Super Steady Video Stabilization!

0

After you put in a lot of hard work capturing a video, isn’t it frustrating to find that the video came out all shaky and blurred? Well, if you currently own a Galaxy A70, then, your days of worrying about that are behind you. With a new update, Samsung has introduced the Super Steady Video Stabilization feature on Galaxy A70. As a result, the device becomes only the second phone in the A-series line to have this feature, after the Galaxy A80.

The Galaxy A70 was the most specs-heavy phone in the A-series until the A80 came along. And the A80 contained most of the Samsung flagships’ features. In addition to the slow-mo video recording and AR emoji, this Super Steady mode adds yet another flagship feature to this device.

First introduced on the Galaxy S10 flagship devices, this feature allows users to record videos with action cam clarity. With this feature, one does not need to carry any extra tripod or camera to capture a perfect video. Acting as a cam stabilizer, this feature helps you to record smooth videos with less shake.

The super steady is a software-based stabilization feature. It makes use of the ultra-wide camera on the back to record videos when enabled. However, it does not give the full 123-degree view that the ultra-wide camera supports. It reduces the field of view for the camera more than a typical EIS, though the result is a much smoother video. Also, the maximum recording limited to 1080p at 30fps (frames per second). Nonetheless, it is still unclear how exactly does this feature works.

This update comes with the software version A705FNXXU2ASF5 and also includes other performance updates. Along with the super steady feature comes improved camera stability and an improvement in the touch screen performance. However, the security patch is the same as the one released last May’s.

But wait! Hold your horses. The update is yet to roll out in Nepal. So, wait a while to be excited about it. But once it does, you can gear up to capture great moments with fewer blurs and shakes.

OPPO files patent for foldable smartwatch; stunning 3D renders available!!

Foldable phones are going to become a thing. With the Royole FlexPai available for purchase, and the Galaxy Fold in its relaunch stages, foldable phones might soon go mainstream, if, everything goes well. But it seems, now, even foldable smartwatches will be a thing, too! Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well, it was the same before foldable smartphones. So, maybe, that’s why it didn’t stop Oppo from filing a patent regarding this!

The Chinese tech giant filed for a patent with the World Intellectual Property Office late last year. The patent entitled ‘Wearable electronic device‘ was published in September 2018 and describes a smartwatch with a flexible screen.

oppo foldable smartwatch

The patented Oppo smartwatch has a regular watch strap and a rectangular-shaped screen. But the special feature of this phone is its foldable display module. The foldable display provides the user with a larger screen area with no time; if desired. Also, the smartwatch is wearable in both right and left hands. While wearing it in the right, the screen extends to the wrist; while on the left, it extends to the back of the palm. This design will ensure the screen will always get some base support and won’t be hanging in the air.

The smartphone will have two modes: a folded and unfolded mode, of course. When unfolded, the screen area increases by 200%, giving three times more screen space to the user. The user interface also changes depending on what mobile device is in use.

In the folded position, the extra display part is stored in the watch case, under the main screen. While the folding process is fully automatic, the watch case also has a recessed groove from which the screen can slide out.

However, there is not much information about this. And we don’t know if OPPO actually has this in development. But we know for sure that the foldable smartwatch will not come out any time soon as the company is yet to release even a foldable phone. And also, there’s the question of why would we need a foldable smartwatch…

Alcatel is not a household name among the Nepali smartphone users. The French mobile company has not quite traveled overseas and made its way to Nepal, not much even though the grey channel. Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro launched: Their very first Kirin 810 phones!

0

It was about time for the sequel to the Honor 8X to arrive. And there already were rumors about the upcoming Honor 9X phones before the launch. And launch they did – in three different variants, just like the rumors…well almost. There are actually two phones: the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro. But there are two RAM/storage variants to the Honor 9X. And even besides that, most other rumors seem to hold true.

Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro Overview

While there are two different phones, the 9X Pro is only a very slightly amped-up version of the Honor 9X. Both these phones feature a 6.59″ LCD display with Full-HD+ resolution. Also, the displays have a TUV Rheinland certification, which means it protects the users from harmful blue rays of the screen in the long run. Even in terms of design, with a metal and glass construction and an “X” design at the back, it does look a bit different than other phones out there. In addition, both these phones have no bezels and come with pop-up cameras with 16 MP shooters!

In terms of performance, both these phones run on the Huawei’s latest Kirin 810 processor. This, right now is, supposedly, the best mid-range processor until now, beating even the Snapdragon 730 in terms of benchmark scores. Another similarity includes a large 4000 mAh battery for both of these.

However, the difference lies in the rear cameras and RAM on them. While the Honor 9X comes with a dual-camera setup of 48 MP primary and a 2 MP depth sensor, the Honor 9X Pro has an additional 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. And in terms of RAM, the 9X Pro has 8 GB of it whereas the 9X comes in 4 GB and 6 GB models. Also, 9X Pro comes in two storage variants of 128 GB and 256 GB while the 9X clocks out at 64 and 128 GB.

OnePlus 7 Pro’s entire triple-camera setup to support Nightscape mode soon

0

OnePlus introduced the Nightscape mode, last year, with the OnePlus 6T. From then on, it’s also made its appearance on the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus’s Nightscape mode uses Machine Learning engine to improve the photos taken in dark environments. It is capable of identifying scenes to deliver natural and sharper pictures as well.

Night Mode in the cameras is one of the most important features in smartphones these days. However, on the OnePlus 7 Pro, this feature is limited to the main 48MP sensor of the entire camera setup. But now, OnePlus 7 Pro NightScape mode will be usable on all three cameras of the setup, according to OnePlus.

oneplus 7 pro software update

This makes perfect sense as their competitors like Huawei are already offering a Night Camera mode that makes better use of multiple cameras. Zake Zhang, OnePlus’ Image Product Manager, had revealed that the company will bring the Nightscape feature to all its camera in a future update.

So, if you happen to come across a cool landscape in the wee hours of the evening or at night, you will be able to capture an Ultra-wide shot of it. In addition, a cool portrait at night also sounds quite fascinating, doesn’t it?

Nonetheless, it’s certainly good to see phone companies taking a step further on Night Photography. This might mean that in the near future we might see the selfie camera also getting the same treatment. After all, the Pixel smartphones are here to prove that it is possible.
