This Nepali startup lets you build an e-commerce site in minutes

1

Are you looking to build an e-commerce website for your brand but don’t know where to start? Then you should check out Blanxer, which is a new Nepali startup that lets you create an e-commerce site in a matter of minutes. And it’s honestly amazing what you can do within an hour right now. What’s even more impressive is that it even has a free tier offering so you can get started right away. Let’s learn more about Blanxer Nepal.

What is Blanxer?

blanxer

As a business management platform, Blanxer lets users set up e-commerce stores without any coding. But it’s a bit different compared to Squarespace and WordPress since Blanxer is a store management platform as well. So it is a comprehensive e-commerce package as well as a website creator. And it can definitely help small businesses that have been relying on TikTok and Instagram manage their resources better, acquire sophisticated data for better decision-making, and ultimately grow their business.

How do you use Blanxer?

Okay, so let me give you a quick tour of Blanxer. To kick things off, head on to their website “blanxer.com”, and fill in all the necessary details including your name, phone number, store info, and more. Then after signing up via your Google account, you are immediately greeted with the dashboard.

Here, you can create a new store by filling out the details like category, name, and address.

blanxer store-creation

After that, you can customize your website by selecting the “Appearance Panel”. This is where you can change the theme of your website and customize branding.

blanxer store-plugins

You can also choose to install plugins like Facebook Messenger to encourage quick communication with customers.

Payment system

blanxerpayment-gateaways

Once you’ve finished building your website, it’s time to set up the payment options. In the free plan, you can only enable the “Cash on Delivery” option. Whereas a premium Blanxer subscription gets lets you integrate eSewa, FonePay, and Visa payment alternatives too.

You can even automate payments using “Blanxer Pay”, but the company charges a flat 3% fee on every transaction. So, for small businesses with not a lot of revenue, it might be a better idea to handle payments separately. But if your business generates a lot of sales, then it might be easier to automate that part as well.

Orders

blanxerordersStill and all, order management is where things get a little finicky as there’s no way to automate orders from sources other than your website. And you’re gonna have to manually create orders for every one of them.

So if anyone orders via the website, the seller receives an order and they can message the buyer to confirm the order. But say someone sends an order request via Instagram messages or something, the current alternative would be to send the website’s buy link for the product, which is not a great experience for the buyer. So we expect the Blanxer team to figure things out as they go.

Pricing

As I mentioned in the beginning, Blanxer has a free tier subscription that you can try out. And in this, you can manage up to 15 products, while also accessing features like order and inventory management, basic website customization, and basic analytics.

blanxerpricing

But if that’s insufficient for your business, then you’re gonna have to get the “Premium” subscription. It costs NPR 1,167 per month under a quarterly billing plan, whereas if you opt for an annual subscription, you can enjoy a flat 25% off on your monthly bill. And a premium plan includes managing unlimited products, custom domain eligibility, website SEO, Blanxer Pay, bulk uploads, and access to all the plugins. Finally, they also have a “Platinum” plan for the big direct-to-customer (D2C) businesses.

Blanxer Nepal: Final Thoughts

All in all, Blanxer looks like an incredibly useful tool for small businesses in Nepal. With the recent growth of organic shops via TikTok and Instagram, it definitely has a big market here. In Nepal, most small online businesses operate manually and manage their orders via Google Sheets or Excel, which is not really ideal.

Likewise, although a lot of Nepal’s e-commerce stores get traffic, their lead-to-customer conversion rate is poor due to various factors. So with Blanxer, having a beautifully crafted website and access to analytical tools can help such businesses scale up much faster.

By offering a free plan, the Blanxer team is also allowing such businesses to try out their service first before committing to a paid premium plan. And we wish the company the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Pixel 7A review: There’s a lot to love, but…

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well! So for the past 30 days, I have been using the Google Pixel 7A as my daily driver and I am absolutely loving it. Talking of its availability, the device is unlikely to launch here officially just as the previous Pixel devices. Importing from India could have been a good option but MDMS will get you to pay an extra amount to make the device legal.

With the current MSRP of INR 44,000 in India or $500 in the US, the Pixel 7A simply doesn’t offer the best value. But the great thing about Pixel phones is they always get a lot cheaper after a month or two. Just look at last year’s Pixel 6A, which is now 34% cheaper than what it initially launched for. Similarly, the Pixel 7 originally went for INR 60,000 but is now available for INR 50,000.

So if we consider that price drop in the future, the Pixel 7A is an incredible midrange phone to buy! I think Google has compromised in the right areas to deliver a well-balanced phone here! Plus, with the recent updates, some of the issues such as overheating, battery drain, and camera stopping after a few minutes of recording – have all been fixed. And I think this is the right time for me to drop the Pixel 7A Review.

Pixel 7A Review: Specifications

  • Body: 152.4 x 71.12 x 10.16mm, 192.77 gm, IP67 rated
  • Display: 6.1″ FHD+ OLED, 90Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 3
  • Chipset: Google Tensor G2 5G (5nm)
  • Memory: 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage (fixed)
  • Software: Android 13
  • Rear Camera: Dual (with LED flash)
    – 64MP f/1.89 primary sensor, 1/1.73″, OIS
    – 13MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, 120° FoV
  • Selfie Camera: 13MP f/2.2 sensor, 95° FoV
  • Battery: 4385mAh, with 18W wired and 18W wireless charging
  • Security: Fingerprint sensor (optical in-display)

Pixel 7A Review:

Design

Like always, let me start with the things that I really liked about the Pixel 7A. And its form factor is definitely on the top of my list. It’s currently the cheapest compact phone you can buy right now, and it feels incredibly comfortable to hold and use with one hand.

The back here is similar to the more expensive Pixel 7 and 7 Pro while this camera layout is also much better looking than last year’s Pixel 6A for me.

To keep the cost down, Google has used plastic on the back, but it doesn’t feel cheap or anything. In fact, I initially thought it was glass! But since plastic tends to get scratched easily, which btw I have already got some, it’s better you case it up!

Other than that, you do get aluminum frames and a nice heft overall. It held up to Jerry Rig’s bend tests admirably well, it is IP67 dust and waterproof, and the metal buttons on the side have a nice tactile feedback to it as well. So the overall construction of the Pixel 7A is pretty darn good!

Display

Upfront, you get a good-quality display too. It’s a Full HD 90Hz OLED panel with very good touch response, nice haptics, and super accurate colors.

But having tested so many good midrange phones lately, I must say that the Pixel 7A’s display is simply not as good as the competition! At a similar price, you will get a much brighter display with thinner bezels and a more fluid 120Hz refresh rate from companies like OnePlus, Vivo, and even Samsung!

Pixel 7A Media playback
Display

That being said, I didn’t have any problem with this screen. Yes, the bezels could have been slimmer like the one on the Galaxy A54 and maybe the brightness could have been higher for better outdoor visibility, but for watching movies or just interacting with the phone, I have no complaints.

BTW, HDR playback also works well here when watching movies and series on Netflix and Amazon Prime. The speakers are fairly decent, but nothing extraordinary. But, I got to admire the location of this fingerprint sensor & it’s quite fast too!

What about the Performance

Ok, let’s now talk about the performance and this is the one aspect where Google has been facing a lot of criticism recently because of the Samsung-made Tensor chipset.

And the Pixel 7A is powered by the same Tensor G2 chip that we saw on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. But since the 7A is a much cheaper device, I think we can go easy on the Tensor G2. So for the price, the 7A’s performance is really good!

It’s smooth and I never got a hint of any stutters. It performs much better than the Galaxy A54, that’s for sure. The Pixel experience here is also more polished coming in 2023, and the bugs are also nonexistent.

Pixel 7A Gaming
Gaming

Likewise, In my 1 month of testing, I also never faced any overheating issues during my regular usage and that’s coming from someone who’s on mobile data all the time. However, the Tensor G2 does heat up while gaming and it throttles the performance with a big dip in fps numbers.

For casual gamers like me, I was getting stable 60fps in games like PUBG and COD by lowering the graphics settings. You can also play high-fps-ready games like Mech Arena at 90fps, but unoptimized and heavy titles like Genshin Impact are only playable in medium settings.

And even so, the phone gets quite hot and toasty if you play these games for more than 30 minutes. So, for gamers, the Pixel 7A is of course a no-go! You should be looking at the OnePlus 11R or the Poco F5 instead. But what those phones don’t offer is a reliable and consistent camera!

Camera

With the Pixel 7A in my pocket, honestly, I didn’t miss my S23 Ultra like… 90% of the time because it was able to pull out great-looking photos; both during daytime as well as nighttime. As with all Pixel phones, you get accurate colors that are slightly on the vibrant side, but it still looks pleasing to the eyes.

I also like the portraits & selfies. This time, compared to last year’s Pixel 6A, you get better skin tone, and the background blur is done nicely too. But I did miss the dedicated telephoto lens since its 2X portraits don’t maintain too many details.

You also get an improved ultra-wide angle lens with a wider field of view, which is pretty good considering its price. It’s much better than the one you get on the Galaxy A54 and the OnePlus 11R.

The videography aspect is also okay, but this was one aspect where I missed my S23 Ultra since Pixel 7A’s stabilization is just not as good as a flagship phone. It also struggles to lock focus at times, but if you look at the positives, you can click 4K videos from all the 3 lenses and if you have a gimbal and good lights, you can get some good footage.

Battery and Charging

Likewise, there are a couple of things that could have been better in the Pixel 7A. First, I think the battery could be more optimized. It’s just average right now, giving me less than 5 hours of Screen On Time and I have to plug it in as early as 6 PM in the evening.

Pixel 7A Charging

And the charging speed here is painfully slow too! You only get 18W charging support, which takes the phone to just 35% in half an hour, while a complete refill takes a full 2 hours!

Maybe Google could’ve bumped the charging speed to 30W here since its battery life as I said is pretty meh!

Pixel 7A Review: Conclusion

So overall, if you look at everything this phone has got, I think Google should have priced it more aggressively, rather than gradually decreasing the price. And yeah, you should definitely play a waiting game if you want to get the best value out of the Pixel 7A.

Pixel 7A Camera

However, if you can’t wait, I still believe last year’s Pixel 6A is still a fantastic phone that offers a very similar experience to the 7A! That phone is available at as low as INR 27,000, which for me is a steal considering its cameras are almost as good as the 7A.

Google Pixel 7A Review: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Super Clean Stock Android UI
  • Versatile Cameras
  • Good Performance
  • Decent Display Quality

Cons

  • Subpar Battery Life
  • 18W Charging
  • Heating while gaming
  • Not so good stabilization for videos

Apple Mac Studio (2023) with M2 Max and M2 Ultra goes official in Nepal

2

Apple has launched the 2023 iteration of the Mac Studio. The Cupertino-based tech giant also unveiled Macbook Air 15, Vision Pro, and more in its most anticipated WWDC event. The cube-shaped desktop CPU is offered in two flagship chip options: M2 Max and M2 Ultra. In this article, we’ll walk through the specs, features, and official price of Apple Mac Studio (2023) in Nepal.

Apple Mac Studio (2023) Overview:

Body and Design

In terms of design, Apple has not changed much here. The Max Studio (2023) arrives in the same cubical shape with a 3.7-inch height and measures 7.7-inch each side. Retaining the compact form factor, this desktop CPU takes quite a small space than traditional CPUs. The brand ships the Max Studio (2023) in the Silver color option only.

Apple Mac Studio 2023 Design

More Power with the M2 Max and M2 Ultra

The key USP of the Mac Studio is what’s under the hood. It gets two chip options— M2 Max and M2 Ultra. The M2 Max is a 12-core CPU with a 38-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. It supports 400GB/s of unified memory bandwidth.

M2 Max and M2 Ultra Chipset

To compare, the Ultra version is twice as powerful with a 24-core CPU, 76-core GPU, and 32-core Neural Engine. It is basically the die of two M2 Max CPUs stacked together. This superfast silicon is 50% more powerful than the last-gen M1 Ultra thanks to 800GB/s of memory capacity.

Furthermore, as for the memory options, the M2 Max comes with 32GB unified memory which is expandable up to 64GB. On the other hand, the M2 Ultra goes with 64GB unified memory that is configurable up to 192GB. Meanwhile, the storage options for the Max and M2 Ultra begin with 512GB SSD and 1TB SDD respectively. And it goes all the way up to a whopping 8TB.

Ports and Connectivity

Moving on, the Mac Studio (2023) offers a similar set of port options as the 2022 version. You get four Thunderbolt ports (up to 40Gb/s) with DisplayPort, USB 4 (up to 40Gb/s), and USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gb/s) support. Other than that, there are two USB-A ports (up to 5Gb/s), an HDMI port, a 10Gb Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm jack.

Apple Mac Studio 2023 Ports

However, the USB-C ports are subject to differ on the front side as per the chip versions. The M2 Max variant gets two USB-C ports and an SDXC card slot (UHS-II). While the Ultra version houses two Thunderbolt 4 ports (up to 40Gb/s) and an SDXC card slot (UHS-II) on the front.

Instagram is secretly working on a AI chatbot of its own

With the hype of AI in the past few months, every platform is trying to incorporate it to create more engaging and interactive user experiences. Snapchat’s My AI and Google’s Bard are just a couple of examples. While Instagram already has chatbot features that provide predetermined answers, there are talks about the platform integrating “AI” chatbots. In this article, we’ll provide you with all the information available so far about AI on Instagram, sharing insights into its latest developments and what it could mean for users.

Capabilities of AI Chatbot on Instagram

Similar to the chatbots introduced by Snapchat and Google that can provide answers to user inquiries, there are rumors Instagram is trying to use a similar chatbot. According to mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi, who seems to have much information about the AI, the Instagram chatbot will be able to reply to messages when prompted, it can give advice, or can even raise a question itself.

This capability is almost available in every chatbot, so what’s new? Well, it can allow users to choose from 30 personalities to customize the tone, style, or behavior of the chatbot’s responses to align with different user preferences or needs.

Is the AI Chatbot concept really irresistible?

After ChatGPT’s popularity, AI generative tools are all in the buzz. These days, almost every platform is incorporating elements of these AI tools here and there. Meta is also actively using AI tools for promoting business adverts and marketing. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated that the company is planning to add AI elements to Instagram, Facebook, and Whatsapp, aiming to enhance their functionalities.

We’re creating a new top-level product group at Meta focused on generative AI to turbocharge our work in this area.

Will adding an AI chatbot make any difference? Snapchat’s chatbot, My AI, which was introduced last February is alleged to have known more information about users than necessary. Some feel that the chatbot ruins the whole user experience-it is getting many backlashes. So, adding this redundant feature has turned out to be disadvantageous for Snapchat.

With the same ability that every chatbot has, this Instagram chatbot could be an interesting use-case but not a well-useful addition to Instagram. Its ultimate practicality and how users will take it depend on how well it is executed.

More about it!

Instagrammers will be able to access the chatbot by simply typing “@ai” in the text field. Then, the user will be automatically redirected to the AI chatbot, which will answer any questions at any time.

Instagram-AI-Chatbot

Instagram has been searching for new ways to improve its messaging options, and introducing AI chatbots helps with this objective. While the success of this AI chatbot implementation remains uncertain, it’s essential to consider that it is an interactive tool focused to increase user engagement.

Here are the 5 new iOS 17 features Android should borrow

3

While Vision Pro was definitely the biggest highlight of WWDC23, Apple announced a bunch of other exciting stuff too. Including iOS 17. And in this article, we have listed out the 5 new iOS 17 features we want Android to borrow.

iOS 17 Features:

1. Check In

Check In

Let’s start with something called “Check In”. This is a communication feature that enables select contacts like friends and family members to get notified if a user has made it to their destination safely or not. So you can send a Check In to your friends and family via the Messages app and the receivers will get updates throughout their journey.

Also, alerts and updates are provided when the sender is not making expected progress towards their destination. As such, the receiver will be able to receive some details like the sender’s device location, battery level, and cellular status. With Apple’s integration, this is a great security feature and a godsend for parents. Or just about everyone else.

2. Customizable contact posters

Call Posters iOS 17

Apple has also introduced a slew of upgrades to the Phone app with iOS 17. And you can now customize a contact poster for each of your contacts; similar to the lockscreen wallpaper styles introduced in iOS 16. And the best part is that Apple says Contact Posters will be available for third-party calling apps as well. Of course, it’s not like you can’t set contact posters on Android phones or anything, but Apple’s implementation definitely looks a lot nicer.

3. NameDrop

NameDrop

On a related note, iOS 17 users can share Contact Posters (or select info like phone numbers and email addresses) simply by bringing their iPhones together. This is just AirDrop, but for exchanging contact information. It also works with an iPhone and an Apple Watch, by the way. So gone are the days of one person dictating and the other typing it on their phone.

Likewise, Apple has also simplified the way AirDrop works. Now, you can share files just by bringing the users’ iPhones together. Large files are also temporarily stored via WiFi so that you don’t need to stick around the AirDrop range for a long time.

4. Live Stickers

Stickers iOS 17

If you’ve ever used Apple’s Messages app, you know that one of the best things about it is how fun it is. And Apple continues to add to the experience with iOS 17. You can now create custom Live Stickers from your photos (or live photos) and even add effects to them. And all your Live Stickers are stored in a new draw in the keyboard, which means you can use these animated stickers system-wide.

Apple has also converted emojis into stickers that you can not only send in Messages but also as reactions. Yes, that means your dog making a derpy face is now a reaction you can send to serious texts from your mom.

5. StandBy

stand by mode iOS 17

iOS 17’s StandBy feature looks pretty cool as well. When your iPhone is locked and in a landscape orientation on an upright charger, the phone turns into a smart screen of sorts and shows different glanceable information with a bunch of widgets. You can check the time, calendar, use music controls, or see a slideshow of your photos.

Besides that, Live Activities and Siri results are also displayed alongside the widgets. And with the iPhone 14 Pro series that supports Always-On Display, StandBy will be always available while you’ll need to tap the screen on other iPhones. All this is pretty similar to the Nightstand mode on an Apple Watch, while some Pixel phones also support smart display functionality when placed on a charging dock.

So those were all the iOS 17 features that we wish Android would borrow. And the beauty of Android is that it isn’t necessarily exclusively up to Google to bring all these features into the platform.

iOS 17 Compatibility and Release

iOS 17 will be available on iPhone XR and newer models. iOS 17 Developer Beta 1 is already available for download (that you can install without an Apple Developer account), while its stable public release is expected to arrive sometime in September. Check the following list of all iPhones eligible for the iOS 17 upgrade:

Google Tensor G3 to feature 9-core CPU, Immortalis GPU with Ray Tracing

Google’s new Tensor G3 chipset is on the road, which we will be able to see on its upcoming Pixel 8 series. Although the new series is a few months away, we have an idea of what to expect from this upgrade. The chipset will have a 9-core CPU and a 10-core GPU built on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process. The CPU will provide users with improved performance than the Tensor G2 chip. For this, the new chip will consist of a Cortex-X3 core, four Cortex-A715 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores.

Google Tensor G3 Rumors Roundup:

The new Tensor G3 will have the GPU of ARM’s latest design, the Immortalis G715. It will basically offer hardware-accelerated ray tracing and 8K video encoding and decoding features. The chip will also support Samsung’s MFC technology for encoding and decoding videos in h.264 and HEVC formats.

Latest ARMv9 Architecture

In the new series of Pixel 8, rumors say that its design will have a unique nine-core layout for the Tensor G3 chipset, with three separate clusters. This design is probably influenced by the merged-core architecture of the A510 series. It allows efficient resource sharing between cores, space optimization, and power consumption.

If we compare it to its previous chip G2, G3 has more up-to-date Cortex-X3, Cortex-A715, and Cortex-A510 cores based on the latest ARMv9 architecture. With the new cores, we can expect a noticeable performance enhancement, lining up with the other flagship SoCs.

With the new ARMv9 architecture, Google can implement new security features, such as Arm’s Memory Tagging Extensions (MTE) to prevent memory bugs. In addition, the new Pixel 8 will also support 64-bit code execution. With this, the users can have a 64-bit-only experience.

Alleged Google Tensor G3 Benchmark Scores

New TPU and DSP

Google’s first-generation Tensor chip had the Pixel Neural Core, that featured the “Abrolhos” TPU running at 1.0GHz. It successfully delivered a quite impressive performance in NLP tasks. The Tensor G2 chip was then upgraded to the “Janeiro” TPU at 1.0GHz, offering a performance improvement of up to 60% in camera and speech tasks. Now, the Tensor G3 will feature the “Rio” TPU operating at 1.1GHz, with even greater AI processing power.

Likewise, the chip will also feature Google’s second-gen Digital Signal Processor (DSP), codenamed “Callisto,” with 4 cores and 1065MHz frequency.

Is this the Exynos 2400, too?

Based on the mentioned information, is it possible that Tensor G3 will shed light on Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chip? Well, we will find out after the distribution of the new series. However, the new Exynos will have a similar CPU configuration as G3 with an upgraded XClipse GPU with AMD’s RDNA-2 GPU microarchitecture.

According to rumors, Exynos 2400 will support both 4K 120 fps video encoding and decoding and 8K at 30 fps. Not just that, but it will probably include UFS 4.0 storage support and LPDDR5X RAM with the faster modem.

Overall, we expect the Tensor G3 to offer better performance, improved AI capabilities, and advanced security features in the new Pixel 8 series.
