Samsung Galaxy M13 series launched with IPS LCD screen, 50MP cameras

0

Samsung launched two new smartphones in India under the M series today. This includes the Galaxy M13 and M13 5G. In this article, we will be discussing the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Samsung Galaxy M13 4G (India) and M13 5G in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy M13 4G (India) Overview:

For those unaware, Samsung already has a 4G smartphone with the Galaxy M13 moniker in Spain and other European markets. But it is not the same phone that Amazon is currently teasing in India. Samsung already sells F13, which is very similar to the Europen M13, in India—if you were wondering the purpose behind the Indian variant.

The Indian variant of the Samsung Galaxy M13 4G sports a different design, given away by the lack of a camera bump at the back. Still, the punch-hole cutout on the front remains the same. It is available in Aqua Green, Midnight Blue, and Stardust Brown color options.

The M13 has a 6.6-inch Full HD+ resolution display that is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 to avoid accidental drops and damage. Likewise, the phone is rated to have a brightness of 480 nits. Sadly this variant of the M13 doesn’t bring a higher refresh or touch sampling rate.

Performance

In terms of performance, the smartphone is powered by an Exynos 850 chipset. It comes with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Also, you can expand the memory via microSD card and RAM up to 12GB with a feature called RAM Plus.

Moreover, like most Samsung phones in 2022, the M13 4G boots on the latest Android 12-based OneUI 4 Core. For starters, the Core version of Samsung’s UI is the trimmed-down version of the usual One UI specifically designed for entry-level and mid-range Samsung Galaxy phones.

Rest of the specs

Talking about the cameras, it has two of them at the back which include a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has an 8MP lens. The phone is powered by a 6000mAh battery which is bigger than the 5000mAh of its European counterpart. It supports 15W fast charging and fortunately, the charger is included inside the box.

Samsung Galaxy M13 5G Overview:

Along with the Galaxy M13 4G, Samsung has also launched the M13 5G in the Indian market. Like its 4G sibling, Galaxy M13 5G won’t feature a camera bump. That being said, it only has two camera sensors on the back which comprise a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary lens. Here, Samsung has ditched the ultrawide module leaving just the duo of a 50MP primary and a 2MP auxiliary sensor.

Samsung Galaxy M13 5G

Unlike the M13 4G, Samsung has chosen a MediaTek chipset over the Exynos in the 5G model. It is powered by the 7nm-based Dimensity 700 with two Cortex-A76 and six Cortex-A55 cores. For connectivity, the handset also supports 11 5G bands.

The Galaxy M13 5G sports a 6.5-inch screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. However, compared to its 4G counterpart, Samsung has reduced the brightness from 480 nits to 400 nits and has incorporated Gorilla Glass 3 protection rather than Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Moving on, the device is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery and supports 15W fast charging. Like its 4G sibling, it comes with Android 12-based OneUI Core 4. In addition, both smartphones come with kernel-level Samsung Knox security.

Red Magic 7S Series official with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, up to 18GB RAM

0

Following the unveiling of the Asus ROG Phone 6 series, Nubia has launched its own Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered gaming phones. The newly announced Red Magic 7S series is the “slight” upgrade over the original lineup launched in February. In this article, we will be discussing the specs, features, expected price, and availability of the Nubia Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro in Nepal.

Nubia Red Magic 7S, 7S Pro Overview:

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro are mid-year refreshes, and thus, do not boast significant upgrades or changes. The most noticeable change in Nubia’s latest gaming phones comes in the form of the chipset. Here, the company has turned to Qualcomm’s latest flagship offering.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on the Redmi Magic 7S and 7S Pro is 10% faster in CPU and CPU performance compared to the 8 Gen 1 on the regular Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1

The transition from Samsung to TSMC’s 4nm process means the new chip is 30% more power-efficient as well. Furthermore, it supports the latest LPDDR and UFS standard, which Nubia has utilized.

In addition, the Red Magic 7S series comes with Nubia’s in-house GPU frame stabilization engine. It consists of a five-layer rendering buffer, TC frame supplementation, and Magic Write Magic Sketch that helps gain more fps in games.

For instance, Nubia claims the Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro can average 59.7 fps and 120 fps in Genshin Impact and Honor of Kings with a standard deviation of 0.4 and 0.3, respectively.

ICE 9.0 Magic Cool

The two phones even managed to keep their temperature in check during the said gaming test. Nubia reported surface temperatures of 39.5-degree Celsius and 38.8-degree Celsius in the two tests, respectively.

It all because of the improved ICE Magic Cool technology, which is now in its ninth generation. RedMagic 7S series makes use of both active and passive cooling methods.

Nubia ICE 9.0 Cooling Technology

At the heart of the Red Magic 7S series’ cooling system is a centrifugal fan of 20000 RPM. It works alongside the shark fin vortex air duct, graphene + n-hexane phase change material, and vapor chamber to keep the core temperature of the phone in check.

More For Gamers

On the right-hand side of the Magic 7S series, Nubia has included two shoulder buttons that can be programmed for different in-game functions. The keys have independent ICs and boast sampling rates of 520Hz.

Gamers can project gameplay from the Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro to a bigger screen. The new Red Magic 7S series supports 120fps wireless projection of up to 120fps.

Nubia Red Magic 7S Series Trigger Buttons

Moreover, you can connect a keyboard and a mouse directly to the phones and have a PC-like gaming experience. Users can even livestream their game along with facial capture.

Nubia Red Magic Series features stereo speakers with DTS and Snapdragon Sound. Furthermore, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a three-mic setup.

Display

Nubia Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro feature the same-sized screen as their predecessors. You are looking at a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 10-bit color depth and DC Dimming.

Still, you can tell between the two phones by observing the top bezels. The regular Red Magic 7S has bigger bezels as it has to house a selfie camera. The Pro gets away with an in-display selfie camera and thinner bezels.

Moreover, the regular 7S refreshes at 165Hz, whereas the Pro model is restricted to just 120Hz.

Rest of the specs

Nubia Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro also differ in battery sizes. The vanilla model has a 4,500mAh battery, whereas the Pro model has a bigger 5,000mAh cell. The supported charging speeds are 120W and 135W, respectively. Nubia ships the phones with a 165W GaN PD charger that you can use to charge laptops and other accessories.

Cameras are not really a priority for gamers. As a result, Nubia has decided to keep it unchanged from the Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro. Likewise, both these devices will utilize new wireless standards like WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless communication.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Graphics Cards Price in Nepal [Updated]

In this article, you can find the latest price list of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards available in Nepal, along with the full specs, features, price, and availability in Nepal.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Overview:

GeForce RTX 3080 was part of the initial 30-series lineup that was announced in September of 2022. Like the rest of the lineup, it is based on the new Ampere architecture and thus, brings features such as improved Tensor cores and RayTracing cores. In addition, Ampere-based cards, RTX 3080 included, boast smarter and faster memory.

The reference model of the RTX 3080 follows NVIDIA’s dual axial fan design that maximizes thermal performance through effective heat dissipation. The card features a front-facing fan, an exposed fin stack, a hybrid vapor chamber, and a backside fan that work together to optimize airflow for a quieter and cooler gaming experience.

If you are in the market looking for an RTX 3080 card, you will find that there are basically two variants of the card GPU. The biggest difference between the two lies in the VRAM memory. The higher-end version comes with 12GB of GDDR6 RAM whereas there are also models with 10GB of the said memory.

It’s only natural that they have different-sized memory lanes as well. The two cards also have an unequal number of CUDA cores and start at different base clock speeds.

It was the 8GB variant of the RTX 3080 that was announced first. The 12GB variant came more than a year later. It has been speculated that NVIDIA was compelled to launch the card with just 8GB of VRAM because of the peak silicon shortage. However, as the situation eased, the company followed it with a 12GB version.

That being said, NVIDIA is rumored to have stopped the production of the 12GB RTX 3080 altogether. Dipping GPU prices, the presence of the 12GB 3080 Ti model, and upcoming RTX 40-series GPUs are said to have contributed to the cause.

RAM Price in Nepal [Updated]

Random Access Memory, or RAM, in short, is one of the major components to consider whenever you are building a new PC or updating an existing one. However, you can be overwhelmed with the number of options and the wide price range of RAM in Nepal. So, to help you make the best buying decision, we have compiled the list of the best RAM sticks (modules) that you can currently buy in Nepal at their official price.

What is RAM and what does it do?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is responsible for storing all the information relating to processes and threads being processed. When you run a program on a computer, related data and files (otherwise known as pagefile) need to be loaded onto the RAM. The system then uses the data in processing to give you the result you require.

There are programs that require more RAM than others. Generally, high-end games and programs that deal with large media files require higher RAM storage. Not having enough RAM may result in a laggy experience. It can even cause freezing and random boots. At times, your system will also display a “Memory Getting Low” error message.

How much RAM is enough for a Nepali user?

We recommend you have at least 8GB of RAM in any PC you built in Nepal, even if it’s a budget one. Today, it is the bare minimum, especially if you are going to install Windows on it. Microsoft has set the minimum RAM requirement for the latest Windows 11 at 4GB.

However, running Windows 11 machine with just 4GB of RAM, the experience will be anything but fluid. Even if all you do is watch movies, listen to music, and browse the internet, 8GB of RAM is the way to go. This way, you will also be able to do light multitasking.

However, if you are more of a heavy user, it is wise to have at least 16GB of RAM at your disposal. This is especially true for gamers. Most modern AAA titles require at least 16GB of RAM. Moving on, a PC for 4K video editing will require at least 32GB of RAM.

Things to consider before upgrading RAM in Nepal

There are a few considerations to make whenever upgrading RAM in a system. While it is not applicable to PCs, there are laptops where RAM upgrades are not possible. This is mostly the case with Ultrabook and thin-and-light notebooks, where manufacturers solder the RAM into the motherboard to save space for other components.

If your system has replaceable RAM then you can think of upgrading them. A lot of it will depend on your systems like the no of sticks that can be inserted, the maximum capacity, and the form factor (DIMM/SODIMM).

Do you really need the latest DDR5 technology?

You will also have to pay attention to the generation of the RAM module. The latest RAM standard is DDR5, but being a new-gen product it’s both expensive and hard to get in Nepal. There is just a handful of laptops and PC Motherboards with DDR5 RAM compatibility in Nepal.

The adaption of DDR5 RAM in the Nepali PC market is even slower. Most of the mainstream PC builds in Nepal today still use DDR4 RAM, which is the best option if you want to balance price and performance.

If it is an older system (PC or laptop) that you are trying to give a new life to, you will have to check the compatibility of the motherboard. Your system might just support DDR3 or DDR2 RAM, in which case it won’t be wise to waste money on newer RAM.

Is mixing RAM harmful?

The best practice is to use identical RAMs in a system. Most RAM manufacturers sell RAM sticks in pairs or kit packages, and you can find them in Nepal as well. These are the best options if you are planning a new PC Build.

But if you are upgrading an existing system, you might be tempted to use newer RAM with older ones. And it won’t be a problem if you are using RAM modules of exact same model. But mixing two RAMs of different origins can cause a problem.

Theoretically, you can get away by using a stick of the same speed and voltage. Mis-matching RAM sticks of different speeds will result in the faster stick running at a slower speed to match the other stick. It’s the same if you mix RAM sticks of different voltages.

Single vs Dual Channel Configuration

Another factor to consider during RAM upgrade is the channel configuration. System memory can run either in a single channel or a dual-channel configuration. To make out the best of your memory, make sure to install it in a dual-channel configuration.

But the process is not as simple as slotting in two memory sticks. Modern motherboards can have more than two memory slots with certain slots designed to work together. Thus, you need to go deep dive into your motherboard specifications to figure out which slots to use.

It’s possible to use a higher storage RAM with a lower one. In this case, the lower capacity RAM will pair with a certain portion of the other stick in dual-channel RAM. The remaining portion of the higher memory RAM will work in a single channel. This is also called Flex Mode.

PC in Flex Mode won’t work as fast as in dual-channel configuration. However, if you are upgrading an old system, it should not be a major concern.

Memory Timing and CAS Latency

DRAM manufacturers tend to promote speed over any other parameter. And for most users, it is all that matters. However, advanced users, like those into overclocking, also pay attention to the Memory Timings.

You see, the frequency that you see on the product box is the maximum frequency possible. Most often, the RAM won’t run at the advertised speed right out of the box — the actual speed will depend upon the RAM standard and motherboard compatibility.

For you to use the full potential of your RAM, you need to overclock them. In this context, overclocking means tweaking the timing of the RAM. In simple terms, timing represents the interval working of the RAM. It is often represented as a set of four numbers differentiated by a dash “-”.

For example, you might encounter a memory with 16-18-18-36 timing. Each number stands for a certain phase of RAM’s internal mechanism. The most popular parameter of the four is the CAS Latency. It is the first number in RAM Timing and denotes the number of delays (in the clock cycle) between a data being requested and the time that RAM starts sending the data.

As a rule of thumb, the lower the CAS Latency, the better the performance of RAM. The same can be said about the rest of the timing parameters.

Is RGB necessary?

Some RAM even comes with its own RGB lighting. These RGBs do not have any effect on the performance and are there for the purpose of aesthetics alone. Unless you are building a gaming rig that you want to show off to your friends you will be better off with non-RGB RAM modules.

How to buy RAM in Nepal?

Not all DRAM manufacturers have their official distribution network in Nepal. Some brands do sell their products via official distribution in Nepal, but they are hard to get and even when you do find them the price is usually high. As a result, most consumers turn to individual importers for RAM. These importers bring in a wide range of RAM from different brands and belonging to different price ranges in Nepal.

The price of RAM in Nepal doesn’t remain the same as the market for PC components is always changing. Still, you can use the given price list as a reference whenever you go shopping for a new card. In addition, we will be updating this price list based on the latest market trend.
