Honor is getting ready to launch its next-gen foldable phones, including the Honor Magic V Flip 2 and the Honor Magic V5. In this article, we will focus on the latter, which is the follow-up to the Honor Magic V3 (Honor might skip the V4). This new foldable will feature a big 6,000 mAh battery.
Honor Magic V5 Rumor Overview
Coming later this year
Li Kun, who manages Honor’s flagship mobile line, has hinted that their next foldable (likely the Honor Magic V5) will be released in the year’s first half. He also said it will be the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable phone. That’s a bold claim, and we’re definitely intrigued.
Performance and Battery
Reports suggest the Magic V5 will be the only other foldable this year from a Chinese brand, after the Oppo Find N5, to use the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Interestingly, while the Find N5 has a special 7-core version of the chip, the Magic V5 will use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite, according to Li Kun. Moreover, the phone has passed 3C and CMIIT certifications, confirming a 6,000+mAh battery with 66W fast charging. Tipster Experience says it won’t support satellite calling, but it will allow Beidou satellite messaging, which is still a helpful feature.

Design and Display
Li Kun also mentioned that the Magic V5 will be incredibly thin, starting with the number 8 in millimeters. That would make it slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which measures 8.9mm when folded and 3.9mm unfolded. It will come in Silk Road Dunhuang and Velvet Black.
Other leaks point to a high-end display setup. The outer cover screen will likely be a 6.45-inch LTPO OLED with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, users can expect an 8-inch foldable panel, also with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh. That makes for an incredibly immersive viewing experience.
Camera and Rest
On the camera front, the Magic V5 may include a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an ultra-wide camera, and an impressive 200MP periscope telephoto lens. Yes, 200MP! That’s a serious upgrade, and it shows Honor is aiming big with this one.
It should also support wireless charging, Beidou satellite messages, have IPX8 water resistance, and feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Honor Magic V5 Availability
The Honor Magic V5 is expected to launch within the first half of this year. Stay tuned, because if all these features come through, this could be one of the most exciting foldables of 2025.
