Honor adds one more foldable to its portfolio, the Magic Vs2

0

Honor is on a roll with a third foldable phone this year. The Chinese brand introduced Honor Magic Vs and Magic V Purse in July and September, respectively. And now the successor to the Magic Vs has arrived with a Magic Vs2 moniker. Here in this article, we’ll discuss the specs, features, and expected price of the Honor Magic V2s in Nepal.

Honor Magic V2s Overview:

A slightly lighter body

Honor has not altered much when it comes to the looks of the Magic V2s. It looks quite identical to the Magic Vs while managing to lose some slight chunks (229g vs 231g), thanks to the magnesium alloy material. While folded, the thickness is 10.7mm, a pretty sleek side. To ensure some sturdiness, you also get a titanium hinge alloy which has passed the SGS gold certification as per Honor.

Honor Magic Vs2 Design and Build

Likewise, folding and unfolding the device is claimed to be smooth and natural due to Honor’s Luban 0 gear structure, a self-developed shield steel. It is available in three color options: Glacier Blue, Coral Purple, and Velvet Black.

Display

In the display department, the Magic Vs2 borrows the same 6.43-inch and 7.9-inch cover display and inner displays from the Magic Vs. Both are LTPO OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate, 3840Hz PWM dimming, and HDR 10+ certifications. What’s even better is the Dolby Vision and IMAX certifications, making it an ideal choice for a great movie experience. On top of that, both panels support stylus input.

Honor Magic Vs2 Display

Camera

As for the optics, the foldable phone boasts a triple camera setup on the rear side. The primary camera is a 50MP shooter, accompanied by a 20MP telephoto lens with 2.5X optical zoom and a 12MP ultrawide unit. For selfies and video calls, you get two 16MP front cameras embedded in the hole punch cutout of the cover and inner displays.

Performance

Under the hood, the foldable is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, one step back from the 8 Gen 2 on the Magic Vs. This 5G silicon features one Cortex-X2 at 3.2GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores at 2.75GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores at 2.0GHz. Handling the graphics here is an Adreno 730 GPU.

Honor has paired the chip with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Talking of the software, the Magic Vs2 boots on Android 13 with MagicOS 7.2 on top.

Battery and Others

Moving on, the smartphone gets its juice from a 5000mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. Connectivity options include 5G, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

Adobe Firefly 2 can now match your previous image style with Generative Match

0

With the release of the Adobe MAX conference in Los Angeles, Adobe has announced a bunch of AI services and features. The major highlight of the conference is their upgrade to the Image to Text model, Adobe Firefly Image 2, putting it directly against the popular choices: Midjourney and DALL-E 3.

The date also marked the entry of new AI models: the Firefly Vector and Design Model. Let’s break down the key points to take away from the conference:

Adobe Firefly Image 2 Overview:

Additions:

Generative Match

So, Adobe Firefly Image Model 2 includes the Generative Match feature. In this feature, users can provide pictorial references to the image style they want to generate from a pre-selected list or upload it from the device. The AI then evaluates all the images and creates new art replicating the supplied files, which might help imitate brand guidelines and design elements.

Content Credentials

Another addition is the Content Credentials, FireFly’s way to credit the source. Through Adobe Creative Cloud, this labeling mechanism applies metadata to the generated portrait, classifying whether the image was AI-generated or based on a reference image and, in that case, the citation to that image.

Adobe Firefly Image 2 Content Credentials

Improvements:

Text Prompt Capabilities

Improving on its previous generation, the new Image 2 Firefly model allows it to understand user prompts better. The prompter also receives suggestions or auto-completions based on their input, allowing for effective and efficient prompts.

Image Generation

The Image Generation part itself has been improved as a result of more extensive training. The 2nd generation of Firefly Image enables more photorealistic imagery, as they quote in their conference. Furthermore, enhanced control over motion blur, depth of field, and lens settings contribute to the higher-fidelity details of the Generative AI.

Adobe Firefly Image 2 - Image Generation
Prompt: a beautiful woman with a white draped flowing dress and diamond earrings

By the way, do you know that you can also play around with this version of the Adobe Firefly Image Model? Go to firefly.adobe.com and find its Beta version link there, and the thing is, it is free.

The fun part is that creators can manually tinker around with these settings, giving them more adjustment powers. Additionally, Auto Mode picks the image creation style automatically between ‘art’ and ‘photo’ and also determines a more suitable configuration for the picture based on the text input.

The rest of the Adobe MAX conference

As I mentioned, there are two new models released to Firefly.

Firefly Vector Model

One is a Firefly Vector Model for Adobe Illustrator, allowing for generative vector graphics to be a thing. Creating a vector illustration might be more straightforward, thanks to all the tooling that this model delivers. Some of them are Generative Match like Firefly Image 2, gradients, seamless pattern tiling, and precise geometry.

Firefly Design Model

The final one is the Design Model, which focuses on helping designers create templates using AI. Like any other model in Adobe Firefly, this design engine allows prompts for development templates in Adobe Express while still being fully automated, editable, comprehensive, and whatnot.

Another thing that was announced at the MAX conference was Project Primrose.

Budget Intel Arc A580 GPU goes official.

1

Intel has announced a new GPU called the Arc A580 which now sits in between its budget-friendly A380 and more expensive A7 lineup. In this article, let’s take a look at the specs, features, and expected price in Nepal of the Intel Arc A580 GPU.

Intel Arc A580 GPU Overview

For starters, the new A580 is based on the exact same Alchemist silicon as the Arc A750 and A770. That means just like the other GPUs it also supports hardware-based ray tracing, XeSS (similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS), and DirectX 12 Ultimate.

It features the DG2-512 graphics processor chip with 21,700 million transistors but only has 3072 shading units compared to the 4096 in the A770. It has 24 Xe cores and 24 Ray Tracing units compared to the 32 Xe cores and 32 Ray Tracing units on the A770. Intel is marketing this GPU towards budget gaming builds so the 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM is an understandable choice.

Compared to the RTX 3050 and RX6600, the new Arc GPU has more than double the memory bandwidth at 512 gigabytes per second.

Gaming Performance?

Intel Arc A580 graphics come with modern technologies such as AI-enhanced Intel® Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) and hardware-accelerated ray tracing to boost gaming performance and deliver realistic visuals.

The card is going to be competing against the RTX 3050 and RX 6600 in the (sub) USD 200 price segment. Intel’s own Arc A770 which was originally launched for USD 320 is also available at around the same price now.

According to Intel, the card is capable of handling even the latest games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales at 1080p High settings with over 60fps.

An independent test by Tom’s Hardware showed the new Arc A580 outperforming the NVIDIA RTX 3050 and Radeon RX 6600 in Ray Tracing overall.

Intel Arc A580 Gaming Test

And how can we forget about XeSS. According to the company, this upsampling technology can boost the fps from 50 to 73 in games like Remant II which is a 46% increase. Furthermore, for well-optimized titles like Ghostwire Tokyo, you can expect twice the frame rate with XeSS.

Intel Arc A580 Gaming Test

So, all in all, the gaming performance on the Arc A580 looks promising for its price. But one caveat may be that most games that run well on the card are Direct X12 titles so ones with older versions (Direct X9, X11) may not perform the best.  That being said, Intel has come a long way when it comes to drivers and optimization here.

Others

The card also features dual hardware-accelerated AV1 encode and decode engines for content creators and video editors. Furthermore, Intel XMX (Intel Matrix Extensions) besides driving XeSS also provide good performance in AI workloads including generative models like Stable Diffusion.

Intel Arc A580 Specifications

  • GPU: ACM-G10
  • Xe Cores: 24
  • XMX Engines: 384
  • GPU Clock: 1700 MHz
  • Memory Size: 8 GDDR6
  • Memory Bus: 256-bit
  • Memory Clock: 16 Gbps
  • Bandwidth: 512 GB/s
  • Total Board Power (TBP): 185W

Intel Arc A580 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Arc A580 GPU is available for purchase for USD 180. When it is released in Nepal, we expect the Intel Arc A580 to start at NPR 29,999.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 16IRX8H Price in Nepal (2025 Update)

1

Lenovo has just unveiled two new gaming laptop series under the Legion branding. The new Legion Pro 5 replaces last year’s Legion 5, while the Legion 7 Pro takes the place of last year’s Legion 7. In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, latest price, and availability of the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Series (2023) in Nepal.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Series (16IRX8H ) Overview:

CPU and GPU

There are two models under the Legion Pro 7 gaming series: Legion Pro 7 and Pro 7i. The former is an AMD-variant powered by the new Ryzen 9 7945HX. The “i” in the Pro 7i stands for Intel, and it is powered by the latest 13 Gen Raptor Lake mobile processor. Unlike the AMD version, you do get to choose the CPU here, as Lenovo ships the laptop in Core i9-13900HX and Core i7-13700HX variations.

As it is Lenovo’s premium gaming lineup, the Legion Pro 7 series packs the high-end RTX 40-series GPUs. Even here, the Intel-powered Legion Pro 7i has more GPU options. You can only pair the Ryzen 9 7945HX on the Legion 5 Pro (2023) with either RTX 4090 or RTX 4080—with a 175W TGP. However, the Intel variant also offers an RTX 4070 option in the base variant.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Series Design

That aside, the new Legion Pro 7 series (2023) features a MUX Switch to connect the GPU directly to the display—avoiding the latency and performance drop brought by having the integrated GPU in between. This dedicated GPU mode will ensure a better gaming experience than what we get with the hybrid mode.

New AI Chip and Cooling

Talking about the improved gaming experience, the new Legion Pro 7 and Pro 7i now feature a dedicated AI chip called Lenovo LA chip. This will now power the Lenovo AI Engine+ to boost the maximum frame rates. The chip on the Legion Pro 7 is named LA2-Q, which makes us believe it is better than the LA1 on the Legion Pro 5 series. However, Lenovo has not shared much detail about the two chips for us to be conclusive.

What we do know for certain is that the new Legion Pro 7 has a better cooling setup than its smaller sibling. Here, you get the new Legion Coldfront 5.0, consisting of a dual-fan system, phase-change thermal material, and hybrid heat pipes. In addition, you get a liquid metal cooling for the CPU and a dedicated vapor chamber. The vapor chamber on the base RTX 4070 variant covers only the CPU, whereas it is expanded to cover both CPU and GPU on other models.

Design and Display

Even on the design front, Lenovo Legion Pro 7 series stand out because of the premium metal build. Lenovo says to have molded the chassis from recycled aluminum and magnesium and finished it with a matching Onyx Grey color variation.

Opening the metal lid, you are greeted with a 16” WQXGA IPS screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response rate. The screen has 100% sRGB coverage and can get as bright as 500 nits. It even has VESA HDR DisplayHDR 400 certification to back it. Furthermore, the “Puresight Gaming” display has NVIDIA G-Sync and X-Rite Pantone certification.

Rest of the specs

Fueling the Legion Pro 7 and Pro 7i is a 99.99WHr battery rated for 12 hours of endurance. The new gaming laptops have Super Rapid Charge technology, allowing them to go from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes. Moreover, the laptop can charge fully in an hour’s time.

You can configure the laptop with up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM using the two SO-DIMM slots. What’s interesting here is that Lenovo has added support for overclocked 6000MHz memory sticks, which we don’t see in laptops that often.

MiOS isn’t coming. MIUI 15 confirmed instead

1

There have been rumors regarding Xiaomi’s MIUI being replaced with MiOS soon. But recent developments have proven that claim to be baseless and unlikely. In this article, let’s delve into the claims and responses to gain a deeper understanding of the MIUI/MiOS situation.

End of Xiaomi’s MIUI?

A reliable leakster, Digital Chat Station, posted on Chinese social media Weibo claiming that the current MIUI 14 will be the last official version of MIUI. Speculators suggested that it might be replaced by something entirely new like MiOS. Xiaomi would go the ‘Huawei Route’ to launch its own Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and run that instead. This is supported by the fact that Xiaomi has already trademarked the MiOS name and mios.cn domain in China. But a new blog post on Xiaomiui forums speaks a different tale.

Digital Chat Station MIUI 14

MiOS is not coming, prepare for MIUI 15 instead

The blog post by Erencan Yilmaz begins by addressing the claims as ‘baseless and untrue’. The author then states that the Chinese giant is currently testing the MIUI 15 update which will be officially released with the upcoming Xiaomi 14 phones. He doesn’t outright shut down the claims of MiOS though instead opting for the ‘we don’t have that information’ response.

The author even entertains the idea stating that, “If such a switch were to happen, it would only take place in China. MiOS would not be available globally.” But quickly points out that Xiaomi’s current focus lies on optimizing their MIUI skin and not launching a new operating system.

Who to trust?

Although Digital Chat Station is a trusted source, he didn’t cite any sources for his claims. On the other hand, Erecan provides screenshots of the latest internal builds of MIUI 15 obtained directly from the official Xiaomi server. Hence, it is much more likely that MIUI isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and MiOS is still far from our sights.

“ MIUI 15 is currently in the testing phase for millions of Xiaomi smartphones such as Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Redmi K60 Pro, MIX FOLD 3, and more. All claims about the future of MiOS are false”

Festive Offer: AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) now available at a discounted price

2

Along with the iPhone 15 series and a couple of new smartwatches, Apple has updated the 2nd Gen AirPods Pro with a USB-C port as well. And it’s now available at a discounted price in Nepal. So let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and official price of the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) in Nepal.

Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) Overview:

Design

As aforementioned, the new AirPods Pro comes with a USB-C port instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector. Apple did the same with its latest iPhones too, as a response to the European Union (EU) mandating a USB-C port on different consumer electronic goods like smartphones, wireless earbuds, and more.

Anyway, the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) has a design that is very similar to its predecessor. It has the same stem-style layout and silicone ear tips. While the first-generation AirPods came with three different sizes of rubber tips, there is now a fourth, extra-small ear tip for those with smaller ears.

The charging case has undergone some cosmetic changes, though. It’s sweat and water-resistant, with a lanyard loop to keep it close at hand. And it also has a U1 chip, so users with a U1-enabled iPhone can also use guided directions to find their case. It also has a built-in speaker, making it even easier to find.

Users can personalize their AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) charging case with their own Memoji, such as custom-posed Memoji, Animoji, and a selection of stickers.

Audio

Let’s move on to the audio, where Apple made significant improvements this year. It’s now driven by the new H2 chip which enables better ANC. Per Apple, the new AirPods Pro cancels up to twice as much noise as the previous generation.

There’s also a new transparency mode that listens for and cancels out any loud noises around you. Like in a construction site, as the company hinted at the launch event.

Furthermore, Apple has equipped the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) with a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier, allowing the earbuds to cover a wider frequency range. You can now create a personalized spatial audio space to enhance the listening experience.

Moreover, Apple has fitted the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) with a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier so the earbuds can cover a wider range of sound frequencies. To make the listening experience more pleasant, you can now create a personalized spatial audio space.

Personalized Spatial Audio

This is an upgrade over the regular spatial audio feature since Apple says “Users perceive sound individually, based on the size and shape of their head and ears.”

As a result, you can now create a dynamic sound space that is tailored to your preferences. In order for this to work, users must first create a personal profile for Spatial Audio using their iPhone’s true depth camera. These guys support 20-bit, 48 kHz Lossless Audio with ultra-low latency when paired with Apple Vision Pro too.

Touch controls

Moreover, one major new feature in this year’s AirPods Pro is to adjust the volume with touch gestures on the earbuds stem. While the first-generation model has touch controls, they cannot be used to change the volume levels.

Battery

The Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) is claimed to provide 1.5 hours more listening time than the first generation. It totals up to 6 hours of music playback time with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).

When paired with the case, users can enjoy up to 30 hours of total listening time with Active Noise Cancellation enabled. Aside from wired charging via the USB-C port, the case now charges with a MagSafe charger and a Qi-certified charging mat.

Apart from switching from Lightning to USB-C connector, Apple has also managed to secure a stronger IP54 rating for both the earbuds and the case. To compare, the original AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) had an IPX4 rating only, protecting them from water splashes but not dust particles.

  • Dimension (AirPods): 1.22 x 0.86 x 0.94 inches (H x W x D), 5.3 grams (each)
