Huawei Nova 5T launched in Nepal: Better than Redmi K20 Pro?

0

Huawei has officially launched the Nova 5T in Nepal. It is a device targetted at the upper midrange market segment. The phone comes with decent camera setup and a flagship-grade Kirin 980 chipset. Let’s see out if it can battle against the likes of Redmi K20 Pro in its price range.

Huawei Nova 5T Overview

Camera

Since the camera is the major highlight of the phone, let’s talk about it first. The phone embraces a quad-camera setup on the back. The camera quadruplet comprises of a 48MP main camera, which uses a Sony sensor and an f/1.8 lens. A 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor complete the camera module. The dynamic range of the picture is good for the price range. Ultra-wide angle shots are also average. The macro lens is a gimmick at its best as it can’t capture many details. On the front rests a 32MP selfie shooter right under the punch-hole cutout. The selfies come out very well on this device.

Performance and Memory

Performance-wise, you get the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset, which is the flagship SoC in Huawei’s arsenal and which we have seen in a much expensive P30 Pro. The chipset can perform the everyday tasks fluidly and handles just fine. But rivals like K20 Pro come with Snapdragon 855 which is more powerful and handier for gamers.

The performance is further complemented by 8GB of RAM. The phone also ships with GPU Turbo 3.0 software, which promises smoother gameplay even while playing high-end and demanding games. It comes with a Performance mode that contributes to smoother gameplay but at the expense of battery life.

Talking about the storage, Huawei Nova 5T comes aboard with 128GB of onboard memory. However, you won’t get an option to expand the storage any further as the phone lacks an SD card slot.

Display

On to the display front, Huawei Nova 5T features a 6.26-inch IPS panel with Full-HD resolution. Just like on the Galaxy M40, Vivo Z1 Pro, and the Samsung flagship devices, the Nova 5T also gets a tiny punch-hole cutout on the top of the display. Since there is no OLED panel, you won’t get the in-display fingerprint here. Awkwardly, Huawei managed to place the fingerprint scanner on the side. In addition, you also get the Face Unlock feature as well.

The power supply to the phone is provided by a 3750mAh battery. Huawei has also included 22.5-watt SuperCharge support with which the phone gains up to 50% of charge just in 24 minutes.

Huawei Nova 5T Specifications:

Xiaomi Redmi 7 received a price drop in Nepal: The budget phone got even cheaper!

0

Xiaomi brings a lot of phones every year. Since they bring a lot of phones. So it’s really hard to keep track of all the Xiaomi smartphones out there. Plus the model names are equally confusing. So the launch and price drops of the Xiaomi phones usually get us befuddled unless we see the specs. Xiaomi recently cut the price of Redmi Note 7 in Nepal. And it didn’t take too long to cut the price of another smartphone in their Redmi series. This time, the company slashed the price of the Redmi 7. Although the name may sound confusing, let me clear it out for you. The Redmi 7 is a budget device, whereas the Redmi Note 7 is a lower mid-range handset. Since both of these devices have received a price drop, you’ve got quite a treat if you were planning to buy any one of these this Dashain.

Redmi 7 Overview:

On the design side, the Redmi 7 looks blatantly similar to the Redmi Note 7. It comes with a plastic back with an appealing gradient color. Even on the front, there is nothing much of a major difference. The Redmi 7 comes with a 6.26-inch IPS display with a minuscule notch on the top. The display on this device is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5. So the handset has better chances of survival during the falls. However, the resolution here is only HD+. So you might notice some pixelation while viewing the contents on the phone.

xiaomi redmi 7 display

On the performance side, the phone gets the Snapdragon 632 chipset. Although three memory variants were launched in the international market (2/16GB, 3/32GB, and 4/64GB). But in the case of Nepal, you get the 2/32GB and 3/32GB variants.

The phone boots with Android Pie out of the box with MIUI 9 on the top. And talking about the camera, there is a dual-camera setup at the back. A combination of 12MP and 2MP sensors form a camera duo on this device. With two rear cameras at its disposal, the handset is also capable of capturing portrait images. On the front lies an 8MP snapper, which takes care of the selfies.

Xiaomi Redmi 7 Software UI

On the battery front, the handset is enriched with a 4000mAh non-removable battery. With a low-res display on the board, it may provide a decent backup. The phone also comes with a 10W charger on the box.

Samsung devices update tracker: Even low-end Samsung devices are getting Android 10 update

0

It seems that the Android 10 update is just around the corner. And we’ll get to see the latest iteration of the Android first hand on the new Pixel series. But what about other devices. Well, I cannot speak for each and every Android device out there, but rumors about certain Samsung devices have surfaced online. However, there’s no confirmation about the validity of this list. Whatever it may be the this leaked Samsung devices update tracker does look promising.

From what we found, it seems that most of the 2019 Samsung devices will receive the Android 10 updates. Aside from the flagships, the low-end Galaxy M series and the mid-range Galaxy A series will also receive the updates.

samsung galaxy devices android 10

Android 10 promises to bring with it some advanced customizing and privacy features. The highlights as we know till now about the Android 10 is the Live Caption, Smart reply, Sound Amplifier and many more. Furthermore, this year marks the change in the naming of the Android OS as it no more is a reference to a tasty dessert. Yes, you read that right, android 10’s name will not be attached to any dessert.

Another major change that Google seemingly has brought in the Android 10 is in the Privacy department. Now more than ever, people are concerned about their privacy. Concerned that their data is being used without their consent. So, it was probably a high time that the new Android featured some privacy update. The new app permissions give users a much better understanding and control over what the apps can and cannot access.

Coming back to the Samsung Android 10 leaks, we find that the major missing in the list were the Samsung S8 series and the Note 8. Then again Samsung promises only two-year major Android updates on its devices.

Though we’ve sort of found a tentative list of the Samsung devices that’ll probably receive the Android 10 updates, we’ve no knowledge about the time frame. So, for that, you’ll have to wait for an official statement from Samsung itself. The obvious priority for Samsung will be its flagships. But hopefully, the mid-range and low-end devices won’t have to wait too long for the update.

Top 5 TV deals to look out on Daraz Dashain Dhamaka 2019

If you were looking to buy a new TV this Dashain, you are up for the treat. For the upcoming festive season, Daraz has brought amazing deals on various electronic devices. And amongst all, I found quite amazing deals on the television segment. Although there are many lucrative deals on the TV segment, here I have listed five TV deals in Daraz, which I found really intriguing. In Daraz Dashain Dhamaka, the e-commerce website is offering a handsome amount of discount. On top of that, Daraz is also providing discount vouchers to make the purchase even more worthwhile. Further, you can get an extra 20% (up to Rs. 2,500) off while making purchases through debit/credit cards.

Wega 32″ HD Smart LED TV

This TV from Wega probably has to be the least expensive 32-inch Smart TV in Nepal. Wega has incorporated an A+ panel on this device with Double Glass Protection.

This is a smart TV with Android OS in its system. You can find Android Nougat (v7.1) on this one. The TV also comes pre-installed with Miracast software. As for the memory, the TV comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage on the board. Talking about the price, the TV is currently available for Rs. 18,000 at Daraz Dashain Dhamaka.

Thomson 43T590S: 43″ Full HD Smart LED TV

The offer on the Wega TV has surely made it a good deal. But if you want to go higher than 32-inch, you might want to consider the Thomson 43T590S. The TV comes with a 43-inch display with Full-HD resolution. So if you compare it with the aforementioned Wega TV, you can not just find a bigger size but will also get higher resolution.

The TV comes with Android OS on its system with 1GB RAM and 8GB of onboard memory. The TV is currently up for grab at Daraz for Rs. 35,990.

Hitachi LD43SYS04A: 43″ Full HD LED Smart TV

Among all the TV deals, I found the offer on Hitachi LD43SYS04A the most lucrative of all. Daraz is offering a whopping 48% on this product, which is surely eye-catching. And since Hitachi is a Japanese brand, there is a trust for the brand as well.

The Hitachi LD43SYS04A houses a 43-inch display with the viewing angle of 178-degrees. You will get Full-HD resolution on this TV. And considering the size of the TV, the resolution sounds decent. But unlike most of the Smart TVs, it doesn’t come with Android OS. You would rather get Roku OS on this model. Nonetheless, you can download all the necessary apps from its App Store. You can also find apps like Miracast and Netflix pre-installed on the device.

Samsung UA43N5300: 43” Full HD LED Smart TV

If you are more brand-focused, you might want to consider this TV from Samsung. The size and resolution are the same as the aforementioned TVs from Thomson and Hitachi. But you will get a better display panel. As you know, Samsung is really innovative when it comes to the display.

The TV flaunts a Picture Quality Index (PQI) of 500 and the display panel on this device is HDR-enabled. And like most of Samsung’s TVs, you get PurColor and Contrast enhancer as well. So the display on the device really looks promising. Even on the audio front, the TV sounds noteworthy. The device delivers 40-watt audio output with support for Dolby Atmos Digital Plus. As for the price, the TV is now available at Rs. 57,500 at Daraz after 34% discount.

Videocon 55DN5-S: 55 4K UHD Android Smart LED TV

If you want to create a theatre-like experience, you might need an extra-big TV on your home. And for that, a 55-inch TV could suit your needs. So in our list, we have included a 55-inch TV as well. And this TV is from Videocon. The device can now be purchased on Daraz Dashain Dhamaka for Rs. 65,440 and you’ll a vacuum cleaner (worth Rs. 8,000) for free.

The TV features Android OS on its system with 4GB of storage at its disposal. The TV also comes pre-installed with apps like YouTube and Facebook.

Vivo Nex 3 5G with waterfall display and Snapdragon 855+ launched

0

Vivo usually brings midrange and budget phones to the market. In that context, its V-series and Y-series devices are quite popular in the market. But recently, Vivo is shifting its focus from the affordable devices to the flagship ones. And its gaming-oriented flagship Vivo IQOO Pro smartphone is here for the proof. The Chinese smartphone maker is also bringing a lot of innovations in the industry. Vivo was the first to bring a pop-up style selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Pushing its innovation further, this time, the company has brought Vivo Nex 5G smartphone. And in this flagship device, Vivo has incorporated a waterfall display.

Overview:

The major highlight of the device is surely its waterfall display. The phone comes with 6.89-inch Super AMOLED panel without any sort of bezels, notches or hole-punch cutout. Vivo flaunts a whopping 99.6% of screen-to-body ratio on this device. To achieve that, the company has tried to remove almost all the bezels on the forehead and the chin. So there is a motorized pop-up selfie camera on the front. To remove the bezels on the sides, there are extremely curvy edges, which are curved to nearly 90-degrees. To curve a screen in such a way definitely has to be a challenging job. Maybe that’s why Vivo had to get rid of the physical buttons entirely. But it did not much of a surprise though. Vivo had already removed all kind of ports and buttons in the Vivo Apex 2 2019.

vivo nex 3 5g display

As a replacement to the physical buttons, Vivo has brought virtual buttons named ‘Touch Sense’. And Vivo says that the Touch Sense simulates the real touch of the buttons and delivers “more exquisite vibration feedback in various use cases”. For the Haptic feedback, there is an X-Axis Haptic system. With the X-Axis haptic, the smartphone should provide a more comfortable vibration, applied to games, typing and other scenes.

vivo nex 3 5g touch sense

As for the performance, there is Snapdragon 855+ chipset. And this flagship chipset is complemented by either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. You also get 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage under the hood. For cooling, the phone has been provided with Vapor Chamber Cooling System. And with this hardware setup, Vivo is pushing this device as a gaming phone. The phone also comes with a Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem inside, which makes it the first gaming phone with the next-gen connectivity feature.

vivo nex 3 5g camera

On to the camera front, there is a triple camera on the rear panel tucked neatly inside the circular slot. Among the three, the primary one incorporates a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor with an f/1.8 lens. A 13MP telephoto lens and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens complete its rear camera module. Talking about the selfie camera, there is a motorized selfie camera. But unlike the Vivo V15 and V15 Pro, the size of the module is rather wide. Alongside the selfie shooter, an LED flash also comes in the elevating module.

vivo nex 3 5g fast charging

Since the 5G-enabled phones devour quite a lot of battery juice, Vivo has included a massive 4500mAh battery on this device. And to refuel the battery, there is also 44-watt fast charging support.

Subisu Dashain Tihar offer: Internet and Clear TV Service for just Rs. 99

0

Vianet and Worldlink’s Dashain offer was definitely tempting. That was until we saw the offer from Subisu. For the upcoming festive season, Subisu has also brought Subisu Dashain Tihar offer. And the offer is definitely compelling. The Internet Service Provider is offering its Internet and Clear TV Service for a mere price Rs. 99.

Subisu Dashain Tihar offer

The current plan of Subisu costs Rs. 1,158, Rs. 1,358, and Rs. 2,058 per month respectively for its 30 Mbps, 40 Mbps, and 75 Mbps internet packages. But in this Dashain offer, you can connect the internet to your home and offices just for Rs. 99. And that too after the inclusion of VAT. So the deal really sounds lucrative. However, it should be noted that this offer is only available for the new subscribers. Existing customers still have to pay the price included on their old tariff plan.

Rs. 99 for a month of the internet is surely one heck of a deal. But one cannot simply take advantage of this offer by Rs. 99. New subscribers have to pay Rs. 1,327 as ONU Device Charge to use the internet services. So that makes a total of Rs. 1,415 (VAT excluded) for a month of internet and an ONU router. That’s still a great deal though. And what’s even interesting is that, despite the internet bandwidth (30 Mbps, 40 Mbps or 75 Mbps), you will just have to pay Rs. 1,415 for the ONU device, its installation and a month of internet.

It’s in the case of Clear TV as well. The TV service is also available for just Rs. 99 (VAT included), which originally used to cost Rs. 442 for the premium package. This service is also for new subscribers. And the new customers have to pay Rs. 1,327 extra for the Clear TV Set-Top Box. So just like the internet service, you will have to pay a total of Rs. 1,415 for a month of TV service. You can also subscribe to both of these services at once for Rs. 2,829.

Vianet and Worldlink’s Dashain Offer: Lucrative internet packages bundled with an LED TV

0

Dashain is approaching. And in this festive season, every company bring various offers and deals to lure people to purchase their product and services. In that context, we have already seen Dashain offers from Vivo and Oppo. Daraz also started its Dashain Campaign with Dashain Dhamaka. And we might even see more of such offers in the coming days. But right now, the internet packages from Vianet and Worldlink is creating quite a lot of buzzes. Both of these internet service providers have included their internet packages with an LED TV. If the price of the bundled package is considered, it’s cheaper than the price of the TV itself. Let’s look what’s interesting in this Vianet and Worldlink’s Dashain Offer.

Worldlink’s Dashain Offer

In Worldlink’s Dashain offer, the ISP has included the 32-inch CG-32D1905 TV. And the bundled package starts at Rs. 14, 240. Vianet Dashain Tihar TV ko Upahaar!

Was it to steal Worldlink’s thunder? We don’t know but Vianet has also brought a similar offer on its internet packages. Vianet has bundled a few niceties on its internet packages to make it even more compelling. And in that case, the inclusion of a TV would be the most notable one. But unlike Worldlink, Vianet has provided an option whether you’d like to include a 32-inch or a 40-inch Skyworth LED TV on your package. The ISP has also revealed all the specs of the TV on its website to be more transparent on that part. In addition to the internet and a TV, you will also get a NET TV subscription (with all channels) for free.

This year’s Apple event had everything. From the highly anticipated iPhone 11 and Apple Watch Series 5 to the surprising new entry-level iPad. It literally had everything – or did it? Despite the second-gen AirPods being only six months old, people actually expected a refresh in the lineup. But that didn’t happen. Not even a single mention of the Apple AirPod 3 was made. This led to many people wondering whether the rumors about Apple Watch Series 5 AirPod 3 were nothing but rumors. However, a new leak has surfaced online.

Apple AirPods 3 Leaked Specs:

A leaked photograph, courtesy of famed leakster Leakspinner, shared an image of what supposedly is the new AirPod. Though the image is a little blur, the image does resemble an AirPod case sitting on a smartphone. However, the details about the image were sparse. The only other thing mentioned was that the picture is in fact of the new AirPod prototype.

Apple Airpods 3 leaked images

Not releasing the AirPod in this year’s Apple event does actually make a lot of sense. I mean second-generation AirPods had arrived in March this year. They had a new chipset, Hey Siri control and enhanced talk time. Furthermore, it came with an optional wireless charging case. So, it made sense not to announce its successor so early.  Well, the reported AirPod 3 along with similar features will actually have noise cancellation. In addition to that, it will be water-resistant too.

It’s possible that the new AirPods will be out by the end of the year. However, my bet would be on early 2020 as its release date. Keeping in mind the success of the first as well as the second-gen AirPods, the new ones will certainly be the one to watch out for. Claimed as being the best wireless headphones, the new ones will hopefully meet the standards its predecessors have set.

However, the rumors are pretty hazy for the Apple AirPod 3. In fact, there’s another rumor claiming that there are two further AirPod models in the making. So, every news about the AirPods until now is entirely based on rumors alone. Thus take it with a pinch of salt and do wait for an official announcement confirming the new AirPods.

New picture surfaces corroborating the earlier Google Pixel 4 XL leaks

When it comes to the camera smartphones, the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL usually come on the first. They also happen to be the first one to bring the new Android OS in an unadulterated form. That’s why the launch of a new Pixel device get most of the tech enthusiasts excited. Although Google brings interesting hardware on the table, they can barely keep the specs under the veil till the launch date. The complete specs sheet of the phone usually leaks ahead of the launch. It was case on the Google Pixel 3/3XL and that seem to continue on the new Pixel device as well.

Before the launch of the product, we can hear quite a lot of rumors regarding its specs and features. In a similar way, we also heard a decent number of rumors regarding the upcoming Pixel 4 devices. Such rumors are usually taken as a grain of salt. But the recent pictures of the Pixel 4 XL has obliged us to think otherwise. There has been a plenty of Pixel 4 XL leaks in a matter of week. And it came mostly from the Vietnam-based mobile store called D Store Mobile. And the same store sent 21 new pictures of the Google Pixel 4 XL to The Verge, which wasn’t published anywhere.

Google Pixel 4 XL Leaked Images

In the images, we can see a white phone carrying a Google branding on the rear panel. That’s enough to understand it as a Pixel deice. The top-left of the rear panel also houses a triple camera shooter inside a square box just like the recently launched iPhone 11 devices. Earlier rumors had also suggested triple rear cameras on a Pixel device. After these images, we can be quite sure about it. And since all the major players like Samsung, Apple, and Huawei have already joined triple rear camera bandwagon, it won’t come as surprise.

Another image of the device shows the UI of Device Info HW app. The Device Info HW app detects hardware components used on the phone and display details about them. Inside the app, it’s clearly written that the phone has a 12.2MP main camera with f/1.73 aperture. Although the resolution is same as last year’s, the aperture has surely got wider. If it comes in a commercial product of the Pixel 4 XL, we can expect the images to be slightly brighter than Pixel 3 devices. On the front, there is the same 8.1MP selfie shooter.

Those were the information regarding the cameras. There were also the images, which show other specs of the phone. The “General” section of the app showed that the display on this device would feature quad-HD+ resolution. There is also a hint about the RAM and storage. Google seems to have upgraded the RAM to 6GB (LPDDR4X). The phone will embrace a UFS storage but there is no clear indication if it’s a UFS 2.1 or UFS 3.0. However, in other picture, we can see that there will be 128GB of onboard memory.

In the app, it was mentioned that the phone will have a Snapdragon 855 chipset. But since the Snapdragon 855+ is also available in the market, we cannot be entirely sure if it will have SD855 or SD855+.

90hz display

But what has got us more excited about the phone is its display. Just like the OnePlus 7 Pro, the phone comes with 90Hz refresh rate. So the device could be quite fluid on the use.

Other images show the display phone with the latest Android 10 and September’s security patch.
