Vivo reveals roadmap for FunTouch OS 13 based on Android 13

Smartphone manufacturers have been busy baking their custom skins with the latest version of Android since it became official. Realme, Samsung, Oppo, and OnePlus have already revealed details about their UI and rollout timeline. And now joining the league is the Vivo FunTouch OS 13. Here we will go over the list of devices that are eligible for the Android-13-based FunTouch OS 13 update.

FunTouch OS 13 Update Roadmap

Protection and Security

Vivo has added a feature called two-level pinning for increased security. It’s especially useful when someone uses our phone. It keeps the apps you select visible while blocking access to other apps on the device.

FunTouch OS 13 Privacy

This feature can also be used to hide photos and videos. Similarly, you can restrict various applications’ access to specific photos, preventing unwanted viewing on the device.

Improved Application Management

Vivo’s in-house iManager app on the FunTouch OS 13 allows you to shut down any apps if the CPU usage becomes too high. It can also prevent overheating by reducing the number of active apps and adjusting the CPU frequency based on the cooling feature of the phone.

As a camera-centric brand, it’s natural to expect new photo and video enhancements from Vivo. Users can now mute the video’s sound and make precise volume adjustments on each segment of the video while editing. OnePlus 10 Pro, which was the first smartphone on the rollout timeline, has already completed beta testing and received the stable OxygenOS 13 update in September. However, the availability may vary depending on country or region.

What’s new in OxygenOS 13?

It’s inspired by the amorphous properties of water and features “fluid adaptation, seamless integration, natural vitality.” According to OnePlus, the new UX includes a completely redesigned color scheme, icon design, interface, and layouts.

Memory Management

OxygenOS 13 also brings enhancements in resource allocation and memory management. Its new AI Booster system increases fluency by up to 30%, speeds up app installation by up to 20%, and speeds up app startup by up to 10%.

For gamers, the OxygenOS 13 includes the HyperBoost Gaming Engine and the GPA 4.0 frame stabilizer. As a result, the gaming experience will be smooth and effortless. You can also switch between different performance modes for a better gaming experience or longer battery life.

Smart Launcher

Moreover, the ‘Smart Launcher’ in the new Android skin is now more efficient and intuitive in its operation. Similarly, the folders on the home screen can dynamically adjust to create a more organized space. The smart features also extend to widgets, app handling, and update notifications.

OxygenOS 13 Sidebar

Users can also add their favorite apps to the Sidebar Toolbox. A similar feature can also be found on Oppo’s ColorOS or Realme UI.

Security

Private Safe

OnePlus has improved OxygenOS’s Private Safe feature, which now uses AES encryption to protect sensitive files such as documents, images, videos, and other files. This prevents third-party apps and unauthorized users from accessing private files.

The phone will ship with Android 13-based One UI 5,0. It’s not clear how many memory configurations, but the Geekbench listing does confirm a 4GB RAM variant.
