What separates the Note 11 Pro 5G from its 4G counterpart is the chipset. Redmi has included a 6nm-based Snapdragon 695 chipset, which is different from the Helio G96 found on the 4G variant.

Both 4G and 5G models of the Redmi Note 11 Pro are equipped with Xiaomi’s LiquidCool technology. In terms of memory, Note 11 Pro can be configured with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Design and Display

Designwise, the two devices are the same. Like the rest of the lineup, Redmi Note 11 Pro phones have a flat edge design. They also have a splash-proof IP53 rating. The Note 11 5G has a fancy Atlantic Blue color option compared to gradient Star Blue on the 4G one. Graphite White and Polar White are common among the models.

Camera

At the back, Redmi Note Pro 5G has one less camera than its 4G counterpart. However, it won’t be a major concern since it’s a 2MP depth sensor that is missing. The rest of the camera setup is the same.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Camera setup

Both get the same 108MP primary camera with ISOCELL HM2 sensor. The sensor combines 9 small pixels for a combined 2.1 m pixel. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. There is a 16MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calls.

Redmi Note 11 Price in Nepal [Updated]

1

Redmi unveiled its latest Note series last night. Among the four new devices launched, the vanilla Note 11 is the first to launch in Nepal. In this article, we will be discussing the key specs, features, official price, and availability of the Redmi Note 11 in Nepal.

Redmi Note 11 Overview:

To start with, the Redmi Note 11 is a completely different device from the Note 11 5G that went official in China last year. Here, the global version of the Redmi Note 11 is a 4G smartphone, and it sports a flat edge design. They also differ in display, performance, and camera specs.

Design and Display

As I mentioned earlier, Redmi Note 11 now comes with flat edges. The phone is 8.09mm thick and weighs around 180 grams. It is available in three colors—Graphite Gray, Twilight Blue, and Star Blue. The first two offer a matte finish, while the third has a shiny gradient look to it.

Over on the front, there is a 6.43” FHD+ AMOLED panel, which now supports the DCI-P3 color gamut. Likewise, it’s a 90Hz panel with a 180Hz touch sampling rate. It can even hit brightness of up to 1000 nits.

Redmi Note 11 Design and Display

Performance and Memory

In terms of performance, the Redmi Note 11 is powered by Snapdragon 680 chipset. The silicon is fabricated on a 6nm process, which makes it more power-efficient. That being said, it doesn’t offer much improvement on the performance when compared against Snapdragon 678.

There are three memory configurations to choose from—4/64GB, 4/128GB, and 6/128GB. Weirdly, the phone still ships with Android 11 despite Xiaomi already announcing its Android 12-based MIUI 13.

Camera

Over on the back, Redmi has upgraded the primary camera to a 50MP sensor. The rest of the camera setup looks identical to that of last year. Accompanying the primary camera is an 8MP ultrawide lens. Likewise, there are two 2MP sensors for macro and portrait shots.

Redmi Note 11 Camera Setup

As for selfies, there is a 13MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture on the front.

Rest of the specs

Fueling the phone is the same 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. A compatible charger is included in the box. It will take the phone from 0 to 100% in one hour.

In terms of connectivity, the phone has 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and an IR Blaster. Redmi is also offering NFC support in limited regions.

Redmi Note 11 5G Chinese Versions (4G, 5G)

As mentioned earlier, Redmi also offers a 5G variant of the Note 11, which is currently exclusive to the Chinese market. It sports a bigger 6.6-inch LCD screen but has a lower refresh rate of 90Hz. In addition, the phone’s edges are curved rather than flat.

Likewise, the phone gets a completely different chipset treatment. Here, you will find MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G at the helm. The camera and battery specs look identical except it is missing the two 2MP sensors.

Redmi Note 11 5G Design and Display

There is also a Note 11 4G in China which is a straight-up rebranded Note 10 Prime that we have in the Nepalese market.

Realme plans to roll out the new OS update based on Android 13 to as many as 30 smartphones. However, the roadmap revealed by the brand is not for a stable version, but rather early access to the Realme UI 4.0. This will help to eliminate any bugs prior to the release of the stable update.

According to Realme, the early access stage will last four weeks, followed by the open beta stage, which will last another four weeks. Users can then anticipate the stable rollout.

Realme has already released early access update for the Realme GT 2 Pro in August. It was followed by Realme GT Neo3, GT 2 in September, and GT Neo 3T, Realme 9 Pro+ 5G, 9 Pro 5G, and 9i 5G in October. Here is the Android 13 early access roadmap for all the Realme smartphones.

Samsung One UI 5 Update Roadmap

Samsung has already released the stable One UI 5 updates (based on Android 12) to the S22 series. The company has now confirmed the update for the rest of the Galaxy lineup.

According to Samsung, the new software update will be available in November for the majority of its high-end phones and tablets. Older flagships and mid-range Galaxy devices receive the OneUI 5.0 update in December. The remaining mid-range devices will be updated to OneUI 5.0 in January 2023.

This One UI 5 update roadmap is for South Korea and thus includes some Korea-exclusive devices. However, global users can take it as a reference. Devices not listed above but eligible for the update will get the update in the first two quarters of 2023.

Samsung One UI 5.0 Overview:

Samsung discussed the new version of One UI at large during its annual SDC (Samsung Developer Conference event). Nearly two months after Android 13 made its way to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), the smartphone manufacturer is officially launching One UI 5.0 update for its Galaxy devices.

What’s New?

Android 13 is a relatively minor update over Android 12. However, with the One UI 5.0 update, Samsung is bringing a few of its own customization features to the platform. One of the most noticeable changes in the new OS is the revamped lock screen. It now supports new clock styles as well as video wallpapers, among other things. Users will be able to edit these directly from the lock screen, much like with iOS 16.

OneUI 5.0 - Widget Stack

The brand is also adding Stacked Widgets support, which allows users to place multiple widgets on a single home screen and navigate through them. Samsung has also improved the animations, quick toggle area, and notification customization with the One UI 5. Users will also be able to customize call background effects for specific contacts.

New “Maintenance Mode” from Samsung will keep your personal data safe during repairs

0

Concerned that your sensitive data might get compromised when your phone goes to a repair shop? Samsung is tackling this very problem with the new Maintenance Mode. So, let’s learn about the Samsung Maintenance Mode and what it actually does.

Samsung Repair Mode Overview:

Samsung’s new Maintenance Mode allows the user to hide the data they want when sending the phone to a repair to a third-party repair company. It blocks the access and possible leakage of personal information of a Samsung phone user.

Maintenance Mode allows the phone owner to create a separate user account that only has access to the phone’s core functions. When the owner exits the Maintenance Mode, any data or accounts created and apps installed will be automatically deleted.

Activating the Maintenance Mode

The Maintenance mode can be found under the ‘Battery and Device Care’ menu in the ‘Settings’ of a Samsung Galaxy device. After enabling the mode, the phone reboots with no access to your personal data, such as photos, messages, and accounts. Moreover, only the default installed apps can be used.

Samsung Maintenance Mode

After the phone is repaired, you can disable the Maintenance Mode by using fingerprint recognition or a pattern lock. The phone will then reboot and allow full access to all the user data.

Additionally, the user can create a log to record the issues alongside the app usage when the problem occurs. The log will not record any personal information and turning on the logs is no compulsion.

Now available globally

Samsung’s Maintenance Mode was first trialed on the Galaxy S21 series in Korea in July. Later in September, it made its way to China. Now, Samsung has launched the Maintenance Mode globally and it will roll out over the next few months on Samsung Galaxy devices running OneUI 5.0.

Motorola Razr 2022 makes global debut with 144Hz foldable OLED screen

Motorola took the stage in China in August to introduce its latest clamshell phone, the Razr 2022. The foldable smartphone has now made its way to the global market with initial availability in select European markets. For starters, the Razr 2022 will go head to head against the new Z Flip 4. So, let’s get into the specs, features, availability, and expected price of the Motorola Razr 2022 in Nepal.

Motorola Razr 2022 Overview:

Design, Display

A Makeover

The new Razr 2022 brings a significant redesign for the foldable. Unlike its predecessor, the company has ditched the enormous chin of the primary display to accommodate larger screen real estate.

Motorola Razr 2022 Design and Display

You’re now looking at a 6.7-inch canvas, up from 6.2-inch on the original Razr and Razr 5G. And since this is a flagship phone, Motorola has included all the bells and whistles on the screen.

It’s a Full HD+ resolution OLED display with 10-bit color depth and HDR 10+ certification. Plus with a 144Hz refresh rate, it also has the fastest refreshing screen of any clamshell folding phone.

Beats the Flip

Moving on, compared to the measly 1.9-inch screen on the Z Flip 4, the Razr 2022 flaunts a large 2.7-inch cover display. No prizes for guessing that this is an AMOLED panel and boasts a resolution of 800x 573 pixels.

The cover screen lets you swipe between nine different widget panels, including weather, fitness goals, a camera, and more. You may also reply to text messages from this screen, saving you from the hassle of entering the main screen repeatedly.

Motorola Razr 2022 Hinge

Motorola has also redesigned the hinge mechanism in order to provide a gapless folding design. The Razr 2022 employs the company’s third-generation water-drop style folding mechanism, which aids in achieving a creaseless display.

Performance

Powering the device is a flagship SoC for 2022, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. That is a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 765G of the original Motorola Razr.

Likewise, the device is offered with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. On the software front, it runs Android 12 with MyUI 4 on top.

Additionally, the company has added new software features such as Ready For 3.5, which lets customers connect the device to an external to enjoy a full-fledged desktop PC experience. There’s also a function similar to Samsung’s Flex Mode for foldable that allows you to use your phone hands-free by propping it up on a surface.

Camera

Motorola Razr 2022 Cameras

As for the optics, the main camera module is positioned horizontally just above the secondary display. It’s a dual-camera array headed by a 50-megapixel sensor with OIS. This is accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera that can also work as a macro snapper. A 32-megapixel selfie camera is housed in the main display.

Rest of the specs

Furthermore, the Razr 2022 gets its juice from a 3500mAh battery. That is a 200mAh less capacity than the Flip4, and Motorola has not provided any battery life statistics. In any case, with 33W fast charging support, it charges somewhat faster than the Flip 4.

There is a dual speaker configuration that supports Dolby Atmos for audio. It also has a RichTap X-axis linear motor for robust vibration feedback.

Motorola Razr 2022 Specifications:

  • Display:
    • Main: 6.7-inches OLED panel, 144Hz
    • External: 2.7-inches AMOLED “Cover Display”
  • Resolution:

That aside, let’s talk about the design. OnePlus Nord N300 looks like a premium phone with its rear matte finish. The sides are flat and the edges round. OnePlus is offering the phone in two color options: Black and Blue.

Over on the front, OnePlus Nord N300 features a 6.56-inch LCD screen with a waterdrop notch. While the screen is bigger, it makes the phone look outdated even when compared to its predecessor because of the notch. The refresh rate is unchanged at 90Hz but the resolution is reduced to just HD+.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, OnePlus Nord N300 packs the MediaTek Dimensity 810 chip. It is a 6nm chip with two Cortex-A76 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The chip is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.2 storage. You can even expand the latter using an external SD card but that means giving up on the dual-SIM functionality.

Camera

The dual-tone rectangular camera module on the back of the OnePlus Nord N300 is home to a 48MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. They are accompanied by an LED flash. Over on the front, the notch encloses a 16MP shooter, which is an upgrade over the 8MP camera on the Oppo A77 5G.

Scientists achieve a record 1.84 Petabit/s of data transfer over single fiber optic cable

0

The demand for broadband communication services has soared in the past 5 years. So, data engineers, and infrastructure are always looking out for new ways to increase the available bandwidth. And recently, scientists have achieved a milestone of 1.84 Petabit/s data transfer via a single optical fiber cable. Let’s learn more about it here.

1.84 Petabit/s data transfer:

Scientists from the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen conducted the research where they were able to transfer 1.84 Petabits of data per second using a standard optical fiber cable in tandem with a photonic chip.

To put that into perspective, the average internet bandwidth used by the entire global population is estimated to be around 1 petabit/s. Since photonic chip technology and the transfer medium (optical fiber) use light waves, both have proven to be excellent data conductors.

The process

The team of Danish scientists, led by Asbjørn Arvad Jørgensen, also gave insights into how the actual process works. First and foremost, the streams of data used in the trial were split into 37 lines, with each one sent down a different optical thread in the cable.

Modelled communication system

Each line were then split into 223 smaller data chunks that matches different color frequencies on the optical spectrum. This allows for creating a “frequency comb” where data gets transmitted in different colors at the same time without any interference.

Scientists called it a “massively parallel space-and-wavelength multiplexed data transmission” system. Data splitting and re-splitting greatly increased the potential data throughput supported by a fiber optic cable.

Now, testing and verifying 1.84 petabits/s bandwidth is a difficult task since no computer is capable of doing so. As a result, the research team used dummy data over individual channels to confirm the full bandwidth capacity. That means each channel was tested individually to ensure that the data received matched the transmitted data.

Availability Plans

Since the research was done with fiber cables, scientists believe a device can be built to upgrade our existing infrastructure. An optical processing device with a Photonic chip should enable fiber cable to accommodate such high speed.  It will be the size of a matchbox that could replace optical data encoders and decoders of comparable size. This could result in an 8,251x increase in data bandwidth in the existing infrastructure.
